Could be better. Today for whatever reason I was feeling pretty tired, dizzy and had a bunch of headache spells. I also couldn't sleep well. What's my plan for the week? Well I am trying to catch up with some lessons and assignments I have.
I hope you take good care of yourself. Sleep well, eat well, plus any stress-relieving activity. *hug

Now as an Egyptian I am obviously biased, but I would like to share the wonders of Koshary with people. You can't also forget the tasty Falafel. Now there is oil mentioned but to be honest we use sunflower oil for the frying, and I am sure you can use your own oils.
You really sound like you know what you're talking about there! At 18 it's bloody impressive. *bravo

I sometimes have falafels, but Koshary also sounds like something I'd make, with some veggies to have a full meal. Thanks for sharing! *thumbsup

I am very fond of hummus for dipping or as a smear on a veggie sandwich.
OMG me too! It is the best thing! *bounce

I may make potato/leek soup this week. Thinking some kale would be a lovely addition, and ground black pepper! Thanks for the inspiration!
Excellent! It sounds wonderful.

I'm doing ok, pretty hum drum weekend, but off tomorrow and leaving next Sunday for a ten day hiking smorgasbord in Far West Texas so excited about that...this week will be work interspersed with trip preparations...
It sounds like lots of fun! Enjoy. *dance4

though I will drink a cup or two of plain old Lipton with honey if I'm sick with a cold, which isn't often. Coffee, on the other hand....
Coffee is life, I know. *agreed

this fun vegan restaurant in my city that's rock/metal themed
I'm sorry... WHAT?! *faints

So my next holiday destination will be Pittsburgh. *thumbsup

I'm from the South, we don't drink hot tea.
That's what I realized reading this thread. All Southerners mentioned iced tea! I love the comforting feeling of a hot drink, and the taste, but then again it's always freezing in my room. *facepalm

I've never made my own soup. Is that something people do?! Do people make their own soup? It doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort. It's just soup...
Well apparently, all people on SF, lol. I've been cooking for the longest time and have done plenty of dishes, but soup is definitely something I never think of cooking. The only times I have it is when my mum or grandma prepares it. :)

As Michael Scott said: "That's why I hate bittersweet chocolate. I don't even-- What's the point of that? Why not just sweet? I mean who- who are you helping? "
:D Am currently on season 3. What an... iconic character!

veggie bowls, for a lack of a better name. These bowls are simple, and have ample variety. You can mix rice or beans of any kind, with any veggies, which leaves many options.
I know, right? When people ask me for my favourite meal, all I have to say is properly seasoned veggies on a pan, with a starch and protein, in a bowl. Which doesn't say anything about the actual content, it can be anything. *facepalm

Well, I also love vegan lasagna.

I just like Mexican food, a lot.
YES, one of my favourite cuisines as well, though I believe I haven't experienced "the real deal" here in Europe.

Hello, thanks for inviting me to this café

Could be better. Today for whatever reason I was feeling pretty tired, dizzy and had a bunch of headache spells. I also couldn't sleep well. What's my plan for the week? Well I am trying to catch up with some lessons and assignments I have.

Now as an Egyptian I am obviously biased, but I would like to share the wonders of Koshary with people. You can't also forget the tasty Falafel. Now there is oil mentioned but to be honest we use sunflower oil for the frying, and I am sure you can use your own oils.

I can drink many teas but my favourite is green tea. As for the right way, there is non. Here in Egypt having milk tea (done with black tea) is very popular. I drink tea with milk or no milk depending on my mood.

Yes, I often make my own vegetable or spinach soup (there is also Molokhia, Orzo soup, red lentil soup and turkish chorba) , I am also a fan of Cabbage soup. Honestly one good thing about soups is that there is a lot of combos you can do with them, and you can take out or add in whatever ingredients you want. I mean, there's even Cucumber soup! Now many of these are traditionally made with ghee or chicken/beef broth, but I am sure there are Vegan or Vegetarian alternatives. For example instead of the ghee you could use oil, and maybe instead of the both you can switch it with tomato sauce for a different taste, or even buy one of these stock cubes etc...

I like simple and quick things to make, so usually hard boiled eggs with whole grain toast, or oatmeal and milk, or a yogurt fruit salad (adding a little bit of honey is optional). Although I will be honest there are many times where I am not hungry so I skip breakfast altogether.

Dark chocolate, I actually tried to make my own before.
The best falafel I've ever had was in Israel and Egypt. Maybe one day I'll find some that good here. I can still picture the street carts with it and all the pickled veggies and more. Have some for me!*shake

1. How are you doing today? What's the plan for the week?2. Veganuary Month : what's your favourite meatless (or vegan!) recipe?3. Hot Tea Month : what tea flavour do you drink? What's the only right way to drink tea? Milk or not?4. Soup Month : do you like cooking your own soup?5. Oatmeal Month : what is your go-to breakfast?6. Bittersweet Chocolate Day : which chocolate is the best?
1. I went out for new tires this morning first thing, glad it's done:) Front end alignment for tomorrow. that's as far as actual plans go this week so far.
2. I make kitcheree frequently. It's Indian mung beans, rice and veggies. I use ghee in it so it's not vegan.
3. I love teas.. I make chai usually daily, it calls for milk. I like hot black English or Irish tea definitely with milk, most any herbal, green and white teas, and iced tea with a bit of sweet in it pretty much daily.
4. I make a lot of vegetable and lentil/bean soups but my best "recipe" is chicken soup my grandmother and mother made.
5. Usually breakfast is a seed/protein bar or fresh fruit if anything. Oatmeal's good on cold days.
6. I have tried forever to fall in love with very dark chocolate. It hasn't worked yet. So good milk chocolate or dark under around 60% remains the go-to if I get a craving.

Just don’t forget the spices :) They make everything taste so great
"Variety is the spice of Life." ;)

Seriously, there are so many wonderful fresh herbs and spices you can add to any dish that can totally transform it. A couple of favorites: ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, cardamom, tumeric, and never forget the sea salt! :) I also absolutely LOVE fresh basil, parsley, and cilantro!

1. How are you doing today? What's the plan for the week?

Today I’ve been ok, I had a telephone appointment with my Dr to talk about going back on propranolol for anxiety. I’ve been looking after my son, I took him to his grandparents a couple of hours ago and will be picking him up soon. This week I’ve got some appointments and my husband goes on annual leave for 10 days from Thursday so I’m looking forward to spending some family time together.

2. Veganuary Month : what's your favourite meatless (or vegan!) recipe?

I would say either veggie chilli or a tofu stir fry.

3. Hot Tea Month : what tea flavour do you drink? What's the only right way to drink tea? Milk or not?

I’m very sorry to say this because I know some people see it as sacrilege, but as a stereotypical Brit, it’s got to be milk in my tea! I put milk in what we call “breakfast tea” or earl grey but I leave herbal teas as they are.

4. Soup Month : do you like cooking your own soup?

I hate to admit it but soup is wasted on me, I really wish I could enjoy it. I keep meaning to try and introduce it more into my diet but I can’t get over the concept of savoury liquid (even if it’s a chunky soup). I just don’t “get” soup :D

5. Oatmeal Month : what is your go-to breakfast?

I love a bowl of porridge with honey or some fruit or I will have a couple of slices of buttered toast.

6. Bittersweet Chocolate Day : which chocolate is the best?

I’m going to say that milk is the best, followed by white, then dark. I love them all though. I guess the sweetest ones win me over first though lol.

i don’t understand why milk in tea needs defense. its delicious and very appropriate at times (which can be seldom, often or daily or whenever). i’m thinking there needs to be some more open mindedness in this respect and it matters not from where one comes but the delights one wants on the tongue. and even though the subject was hot tea, lets not forget bubble tea which often is with milk too. so yay Aves, maybe we can have tea together some day. 😎

Lol, same! And then people stare at you like, “that’s all you’re going to eat?”*yes4 But, these meals are very filling, tasty, and not to mention, I feel much better than when I ate meat more often.

I’ll have to try vegan lasagna. There really are so many delicious vegetarian dishes. This was a great topic today, indeed *thumbsup

Thank you @extraterrestrialone, I was saying it in a jokey way but yes I agree. I was brought up on milk in my tea so it’s just a normal thing for me anyway. Well, I do love a good “brew” (that’s what we call a cup of tea where I’m from) and it’s always nice to have one with company as well.

1. How are you doing today? What's the plan for the week?

Feeling in-between. Not good or bad, but tired and maybe a little cut off emotionally, which isn't a bad thing. I picked up a lot of work this week, so just going to do that and hope it keeps me distracted!

2. Veganuary Month : what's your favourite meatless (or vegan!) recipe?

I'm a vegetarian but not much of a cook. I love veggie India food with Saag Paneer being a favorite.

I do make egg muffins with egg whites and whole eggs and usually red peppers and maybe cheese. It's almost impossible to mess up!

3. Hot Tea Month : what tea flavour do you drink? What's the only right way to drink tea? Milk or not?

Love tea, and can have with or without milk. There's a litchi tea that is superb but can be hard to find. I like peach tea, apple cinnamon and honey vanilla the best.

4. Soup Month : do you like cooking your own soup?

Again, not much of a cook. I just bought a really great potato leek soup, and had some carrot/apple soup the other day which was surprisingly yummy.

5. Oatmeal Month : what is your go-to breakfast?

I used to eat oatmeal a lot, but got overwhelmed by the carbs, so I usually have egg whites with spinach and some other protein like soyrizo or tofu.

6. Bittersweet Chocolate Day : which chocolate is the best?

I like milk chocolate!

Of course no type of tea needs defense. :D I just enjoy teasing British people (and others), back and forth, because I didn't know tea with milk even existed a few years ago! It's all supposed to be in good fun. *hug
