Hey @Dante, cool cafe :)

I love hamsters. I had a few as a kid - Custard, Jemima and Noah. Then we had some again when my children were small - Scrabble, Herbie and Mole.

The Hopes Table.
Now that we're allowed to meet up outside we just had a BBQ at my son's house with his neighbours. It was a strange BBQ, it was snowing *blue

1) What have you missed most during all these lockdowns and panics?
I've missed spending time with my friends.

2) What are you most looking forward to when the world returns to normal?
International travel.

3) Who is the first person you plan to see that you couldn't so far, when you get a chance?
My brother - hence the international travel as he lives in Singapore. Somehow I think that's going to be a while though.

4) What are the wildest or most daring plans you have made for when all this blows over and we can cut loose again?
Another SF meet-up involving lots of gin and vodka.

5) What have you been doing to keep yourself sane whilst stuck at home and do you intend to continue it when you earn you freedom again?
I've been trying to teach myself macramé. I bought a kit to make a plant hanger. The kit said it was suitable for beginners but it's still looking like a pile of jumbled up string. Somehow I don't think I'll continue with this.

The Food Table.

1) Have you ever eaten a meal at you desk? Why and what was it?
Probably but not often. I've never had the kind of jobs where I spend much time at a desk.

2) Do you like Liquorice, and if so... WHY??
Hell no. Liquorice is one of the most disgusting things ever created.

3) What is your guilty pleasure food?
Cheese of any variety. And Scampi & Lemon flavour Nik Naks.

4) What do you eat when youre trying to be good?
Salad and meal replacement shakes.

5) What food can you simply not understand that ANYONE could like it?
Beetroot. Why would anyone eat that???

Hello, Dante. Thanks for the invitation, and the interesting facts you always post when you open Jim's Cafe. Did not know hamsters could fill their cheeks with air to help them swim.

1. There's nothing I've missed since the pandemic began. I was social distancing before the pandemic, so it hasn't really affected how I live my life - except for wearing a mask at work or when I go shopping for groceries. The only problem wearing a mask for me personally is that I could be attacked for wearing it. This is also why I don't dare share my feelings about how sad I am about what the pandemic has done to the world, how sad I am by all the people that have died or are dealing with long-term affects after recovering. I don't know who's ready to attack anyone who has the nerve to believe the pandemic is real. I wear a mask because it's the right thing to do, but how many believe I'm only wearing it to make a political statement.

2. Nothing. I'll still be an introverted-homebody. But it will be nice not having to worry about being attacked for wearing a mask.

3. No one. The pandemic has not affected me in this way.

4. No plans for anything out of the ordinary.

5. The same things I was doing before the pandemic. As I said, I was social distancing before all this started. I wasn't what you would call sane before the pandemic, but the pandemic hasn't made me any worse mentally than I was before.

Something else we have in common. Your answer to number 2 in The Food Table. To me, it's like trying to eat wax.

Thank you @Dante for the cafe and the tag. I had to go downstairs and get another beer for this and then I will go to bed, pick out a playlist to play on Spotify for the night.

The Hopes Table
Born of my country's Covid optimism and Walk On Your Wild Side Day, this is a table for discussing and hoping for the time of freedom when the world returns to normal and we all get to have fun.
1) What have you missed most during all these lockdowns and panics?
COVID-19 has not affected me much. I live with 3 other guys, one of them worked at Walmart, none of us has gotten the virus. THe company I work for was deemed essential by someone in the government that pocketed a lot of money during this time and I have worked 56 hour weeks during the whole pandemic, we have a 6 week backlog of orders.

2) What are you most looking forward to when the world returns to normal?
I am looking forward to the conspiracy theorists shutting their trap about masks. We had a mask mandate at work, most people wore theirs below their nose so it was totally ineffective. I vape all the time and yet I can wear a mask over my nose all day long and still breathe fine, figure that. On thursday the chief operating officer made his rounds through the shop without wearing a mask, which without saying a word means "The mask mandate is off." The guys on my team didn't wear masks and on wednesday i told them that was a violation of my human rights and they didn't care so I threw my mask in the trash and nothing was said. Nobody is wearing a mask at work any more. The world is forever changed; it will never return to our version of "normal".

3) Who is the first person you plan to see that you couldn't so far, when you get a chance?
There was nobody I couldn't see.

4) What are the wildest or most daring plans you have made for when all this blows over and we can cut loose again?
I cut loose every night, a couple doubles of whisky, a bottle of beer, bullshitting with a friend for an hour, no microscopic villain is going to slow me down.

5) What have you been doing to keep yourself sane whilst stuck at home and do you intend to continue it when you earn you freedom again?
Never been stuck at home, I don't go out much anyway, a trip to the grocery store maybe, I drink alone.

The Food Table
With Deskfast day, Liquorice Day, AND Grilled Cheese Sandwhich day all at once, I couldnt not have a food table.
1) Have you ever eaten a meal at you desk? Why and what was it?
I have a desk in my bedroom with my Chromebook and all my stuff, it is where I eat every night. These week I made some mac & cheese and then browned some hot sausage and diced a couple vidalia onions and spiced it up with garlic powder, cumin, a bunch of Mrs Dash, celery seed, and parsley.

2) Do you like Liquorice, and if so... WHY??
Love black licorice. Why? I'm not a doctor but I would say I like it because of the taste buds I inherited.

3) What is your guilty pleasure food?
Butter Pecan ice cream.

4) What do you eat when youre trying to be good?
A nice base of hash browns smothered in sausage gravy with 3 over easy eggs on top.

5) What food can you simply not understand that ANYONE could like it?
I eat just about anything, we were made to eat what was set in front of us as children and there is nothing I don't like. I like fried okra if that gives you any idea of how I will eat anything.

The DIY Table
What, you want me to think of everything? This is a self-serve table, find your own questions and answer them!
1) What question does no one ever ask you, and what's the answer?
Can't think of anything for this question

2) What question do you wish people would stop asking you and what's the answer?
I am an open book, I answer any question people ask me gladly, with no reservation.

3) What's the strangest question you have ever been asked and what's the answer?
Back when Craigslist had the personals ads, they have been removed now because of a lawsuit, I messaged a woman I was interested in. She responded "What is your shoe size?" I responded with just "10-1/2". She replied back "Not interested". That is the strangest exchange I have ever had anywhere. I realize my mistake now, I should have expounded on my shoe size, what kind of shoes I wore, my penis size, my pants size, my sport coat size, I should have written her a two page letter on my shoe size.

The Bar
For those who just want to say Hello
1) Say Hello
Hello to all, good evening and good night.

2) What do you want to tell us
I had a very good day off work, I work 6 days a week usually 10 hour days and yesterday after work I showered, got a haircut, shaved, the barber (a beautiful young lady) trimmed my goatee and mustache, trimmed my mustache off my lip, I trimmed my fingernails, I cleaned up my room today, took all the trash out, watched "Gladiator", one of the best weekends of my life.

My beer is gone, time to go to bed.

Tysm for tagging me & for posting the cafe today Dante! :) I had been thinking about posting one an hour or so ago but my fear of it being unpopular stopped me lol. I'm damn glad I didn't now cos yours are definitely better anyway as I'm pretty sure most people here would agree with. ;)

Anyway here's my answers and hope you and everyone else here are well. :)

The Hopes Table

1) What have you missed most during all these lockdowns and panics?
Being able to just go shopping in a normal way without having to wear a bloody mask all the time (so sick of those things wow)

2) What are you most looking forward to when the world returns to normal?
See answer to #1 (Not having to wear a damn mask anymore.)

3) Who is the first person you plan to see that you couldn't so far, when you get a chance?
I don't see many people in my life anyway since there just aren't many people who want to be in my life, but haven't been able to see my sis much so I hope to be able to see her more once it's finally all over. Probably won't though cos she's busy and also disappointed in me so w/e.

4) What are the wildest or most daring plans you have made for when all this blows over and we can cut loose again?
I don't make wild or daring plans because I'm not a wild or daring person so I got nothin for this one sorry.

5) What have you been doing to keep yourself sane whilst stuck at home and do you intend to continue it when you earn you freedom again?
Reading, trying and pretty much failing utterly miserably to form some serious, meaningful bonds with people online (that has NOT helped me stay sane though lemme tell ya, quite the opposite which is why I think it's safe to say I'm utterly done with that nonsense already!!!!) and just taking things one day at a time. After how things have been for me over the past few years it kinda feels like I can survive anything now so I will find a way to survive this too no matter how much more misery and suffering I'll have to feel for the rest of my life.

The Food Table

1) Have you ever eaten a meal at you desk? Why and what was it?
Maybe in school I might have...can't remember....never at work though I don't think.

2) Do you like Liquorice, and if so... WHY??
Red is fine, but heck no to black. It's so disgusting. Can't eat any chewy things like that anymore though, haven't been able to for years.

3) What is your guilty pleasure food?
Lots of stuff but especially chocolate, fries, chips and crackers.

4) What do you eat when youre trying to be good?
Carrots or other fruits and veggies. The stuff they say is truly "good" for you.

5) What food can you simply not understand that ANYONE could like it?
Olives.

The DIY Table

1) What question does no one ever ask you, and what's the answer?
Question: Why are you so beautiful, awesome, amazing, fabulous, charming, inspiring and wonderful?
Answer: I'm not. No one's asked that because no one thinks it. Whatever.

2) What question do you wish people would stop asking you and what's the answer?
No one asks me much of anything for the most part but it's fine, could be worse.

3) What's the strangest question you have ever been asked and what's the answer?
Can't think of any sorry.
Chocolate...the ultimate guilty pleasure food. I'm such a fan of chocolate I think it should have it's own spot at the top of the food pyramid. Or am I just too passionate of fan of chocolate?

1) Have you ever eaten a meal at you desk? Why and what was it?

Never here at the house because the desk is crowded, but yes at work. Mainly sandwiches or burgers I pick up so I could continue working or whatever I brought from home.

2) Do you like Liquorice, and if so... WHY??

It's OK, but for candy I prefer either solid chocolate or wild cherry Lifesavers.

3) What is your guilty pleasure food?

Cookie butter, just like peanut butter but made with cookies. :)

4) What do you eat when youre trying to be good?

Grilled protein and vegetables.

5) What food can you simply not understand that ANYONE could like it?

Sardines, great for a camp food since you can pack plenty of it, but nasty. Vienna sausages are right behind on the retch factor. LOL

You could dip broccoli and asparagus in chocolate and it wouldn't make either one even a little bit better. I know, I've tried. All that happened was the chocolate pudding I dipped them in was ruined. So sad.

thank you for opening the cafe and inviting me @Dante

1. what i miss : car shows, there were hardly any last year, this year is looking up.

2. looking forward to : car shows

3. first person to see : no one, i still see the people important to me.

4. most daring thing : street race again

5. what have i been doing : planning on car shows and work to do to the car. now that she's out we are working on the car.
Would you agree with me when I say that classic cars had character? I mean, REAL character, like a character in a book or movie? Older Mustangs, Corvettes - my personal favorite, LOVE the model from 73 - the way I look at it, a movie like "Christine" could not be made with any car produced today. Ever see "Christine?" It worked because the car they used had character.

1) What have you missed most during all these lockdowns and panics?

Nothing really. I don't really go out much so it did not change for me.
But I miss working

2) What are you most looking forward to when the world returns to normal?

Escaping.

3) Who is the first person you plan to see that you couldn't so far when you get a chance?

No one.

4) What are the wildest or most daring plans you have made for when all this blows over and we can cut loose again?

An investment so crazy it will either ruin me or put me on top. Ten years in the planning.

5) What have you been doing to keep yourself sane whilst stuck at home and do you intend to continue it when you earn your freedom again?

Do I look sane to you?

1) Have you ever eaten a meal at your desk? Why and what was it?

Always most meals during the day I eat at my desk and when I worked I ate every meal at my desk, I do not really have as many friends as people think I do

2) Do you like Liquorice, and if so... WHY??

I do not mind it, I actually have it fairly often, it is good for easing stomach pains which I get a lot

3) What is your guilty pleasure food?

Fish in a nice batter with tomato sauce

4) What do you eat when you're trying to be good?

I always eat healthily, so I do not really know what to say

5) What food can you simply not understand that ANYONE could like?

Spinach, I will never get it, I will never eat it and I simply do not understand it

1) What question does no one ever ask you, and what's the answer?

Why do I talk to a lot of people? I am always so surprised no one asks me that.

The answer is that I am in danger when I am alone

2) What question do you wish people would stop asking you and what's the answer?

Am I suicidal, I get asked it a lot, it is no one business this fight is mine and mine alone. I will lie every time someone asks me, but the very reason you care is the very reason I do not give up. So stop asking me, I have pride

3) What's the strangest question you have ever been asked and what's the answer?

Why are you so thin?
Soon as another man asks me that I just want to fight, I may be thin but I will put you down quicker than you can blink so stop asking me.
I was not allowed food a lot growing up, so I am not used to eating enough not to be thin, there now piss off with that annoying question.

yes i believe that the older cars do have character. i even named my 64 dodge jasmine. and i don't think a modern car would work for a movie like christine, and i love that movie. my favorite decade for cars are the 60's, i think they have more style. and i love the73 mustang mach 1.
