Prehistory. :P Ok ok... Probably ancient history for its philosophers. The middle ages ruined everything. The Enlightenment was fun though.
3) If you could live in any period of history, which would you choose?
The Enlightenment, because reason.

Well computers would always be useful.

Welcome one and all to Jim's Café, the sanctuary for the long suffering sane from the madness of the modern world.
Hi all, I havent done a Jim's Cafe in while as my PC is in pieces, but its been like that for over a month, so I thought "screw it" and made this cafe, luckily I was able to download the header from my previous cafe.
In all honesty, I went to my favourite resource for these cafe's "https://www.daysoftheyear.com/" and found out that today is crap (unless you really love trail mix) so I will be making it up this time, but first, some relaxing background music (I like jazz, so sue me).
For those of you unfamiliar with my Cafes, I like to start with some "fun" facts and then invite my guests to sit at one of the many tables and enjoy the menu of prepared questions. If you have had your fill at one table and wish to try another, feel free to do so, and for anyone who doesnt feel like answering loads of questions, head on over to The Bar and chilll.
Fun Facts
I figured I would go with some history facts today, less fun, more interesting with occasional ridiculous:
1) Possibly the most successful pirate in history was a lady called Ching Shih, she began life from humble origins and became a prostitute before being bought by and married to the leader of a pirate confederation named Zheng Yi. Far from looking down on her, her husband considered her his equal and she became an active pirate commander before eventually taking over the whole confederation after his death. (The pirate confederation spanned some 400 ships and 40,000 - 60,000 pirates).
2) In World War 2 a Great Dane named Juliana earned the Blue Cross medal for extinguishing an incendiary bomb by peeing on it.
3) Abraham Lincoln had gained some notoriety even before his presidency as a wrestling star in his early 20s and even now holds spot in the wrestling hall of fame for his only 1 loss in over 300 contests, including against county champion Jack Armstrong who he KOed by slamming him to the mat in anger after Armstrong kept fouling him.
4) In 1386, a pig attacked a child in France who went on to die later from their wounds. The pig was arrested, kept in prison, and then sent to court where it stood trial for murder, was found guilty and then executed by hanging.
5) The University of Oxford is older than the Aztec Empire. The University of Oxford first opened its doors to students all the way back in 1096. By comparison, the Aztec Empire is said to have originated with the founding of the city of Tenochtitlán at Lake Texcoco by the Mexica which occurred in the year 1325.

The pirate boss ended up having a normal life with a casino somewhere in Guangdong, after surrendered to the Qing emperor by 1810. A character, called Mrs. Cheng, in the Pirates of the Caribbean is based on her.

2. hobby i like that haven't broken into yet : painting, i have no talent
3. hobby i used to have : i used to fix tube type televisions and radios.
4. hobby i turned into something valuable : fixing t.v. s . when they started to turn into solid state there were a lot of tube types left out there. the local shop didn't want to work on them anymore so he sent me all of his customers that had them. that also killed my love for the hobby.
5. last time i did something new : when the dinosaurs walked the earth.

Different things to different people, things that you find pleasing in some way, often mistaken as being a shallow and "visual" thing but actually comes in all kinds of amazing forms, all of them wonderful in their own unique ways
2) What is friendship?
Two people enhancing each others lives in some way, caring and doing what they can to be helpful and supportive.
3) What is pain?
Very unpleasant sensation that can be either physical or psychological. The physical can sometimes be a nice distraction if the psychological becomes too overwhelming, but neither one is good except for it helping us better appreciate the non-painful times and also to become stronger.
4) What is pleasure?
Opposite of pain, something that causes you to feel happy in some way.
5) What is the purpose of football?
To play ball! Lmao I dunno, for barbarians to do barbaric things and call it a "game" I guess :p

Facebook, during either of the wars because then when people were still alive they could post it on facebook "Don't worry family, I'm still alive" and then those family members wouldn't have had to be so worried and have so much uncertainty about their loved ones who went to war. Or at least if there was email or a much faster way of them being able to contact their loved ones.

1800's in some ways cos of the incredibly, stunningly beautiful long flowing dresses they got to wear (the rich people anyway, ya only if I could be rich otherwise would be very miserable).

About 1-2 decades before when I was born so I could have been alive when Star Wars first came out in theatres. Seems like it was such an exciting time to be alive.

About 1-2 decades before when I was born so I could have been alive when Star Wars first came out in theatres. Seems like it was such an exciting time to be alive.

1) What is beauty? I believe that beauty is something that's within, it's not always how someone looks but also personality can make the ugliest person the most beautiful and vice versa, someone could be absolutely stunning but has the ugliest personality, which then makes them an ugly person
2) What is friendship? Friendship isn't necessarily who you've been friends with the longest, but sometimes who has your back no matter what. Someone who will drop everything to talk to you, make sure you're alright and be there if they can. My best friend is @Harrow because no matter what, he's always there for me

3) What is pain? Pain to me is something i deal with on a daily basis. But its physical pain. There's different types of pain. Physical, mental and god knows what else. I unfortunately suffer from physical pain and mental pain.

I think pleasure is something you feel amazing about. Whether its physical pleasure 
or whether its taking pleasure in doing something you really enjoy. I think pleasure in doing things is when you feel at your most relaxed.

I have been thinking about going to a practice for my local quidditch team (yeah, like the sport from Harry Potter, but without the actual flying haha.) I was first considering trying it out at the beginning of last year, and they ended up suspending practices for a while, and now that it's restarted, I've gained a fair amount of weight and am in much worse shape, so I'm worried about being able to keep up with everyone. :/
