Jim's Cafe - August 28, 2021 Weekend Edition

Fall pictures are great. It is still hot & steamy here, so it seems a long way off. But American 🏈 college football is starting so that means fall is going to happen quickly.
Our refrigerator is trying to die. I have spent most of the day trying to get it working. If it‘s not cold enough by morning, I will be getting a replacement. 😢
I fell down the stairs last week. As I showered this evening, I looked at my leg- I was surprised at how much dirt was on it. Wash, wash… not dirt - bruises! 🤦‍♀️ Injured my tailbone (coccyx), it burns like fire to sit. 🙄 it turns out I am a uncoordinated, cranky, old lady. 🤣

@Sunspots -it looks like a fun adventure! Very nice gift. 🎁
@may71 I think Ted is the dog on the foot stool.

I would call mine pasttimes: hunting, fishing, camping, but I have always loved solitary or near solitary activities.

Any sport you hate?

Can't think of any that I hate but I don't get as much into being negative.

Never in team sports.

With my complete lack of talent, surely you jest? LOL

Favorite Teams?

None for me but I also have no least favorite. My favorites were always what my nephew and nieces were playing on as kids. Always quite fun watching the little ones just having fun especially when the too competitive parents stayed out of things and just let the children have their fun playing with each other because that is what little league, pee wee football and the soccer games are all about. The kids will grow up soon enough and lose that magic feeling of carefree childhood, let them have it as long as they can.

No problem at all. I claim to be too lazy to compete at things, but I am as lazy as a cat. LOL I always say have fun with whatever you like and never worry about what anyone else thinks.

i struggle with steps, so you know sports are out of the questiin for me! 😂. I am not competitive . I was a manager of the high school football team. I loved doing that.
which reminds me, I should check with the school nearby. Perhaps I could volunteer to help with the football games. Doing the chains is fun.

Sounds like that would be great. Time is the most valuable commodity there is because you can never accumulate or save it up but experience is also priceless. Never know what tidbit shared can help another especially someone just starting out and learning.

It's my son's birthday this weekend so his girlfriend and I have rented a little cottage for a few days for him. It's really pretty here, probably one of the prettiest areas in England. We booked it a while ago as we thought it looked quirky. It turns out it's actually a converted public toilet block

thank you @Blue Star for opening the cafe and inviting me.

i love the cooler weather of fall as well as all the beauty when the leaves turn. but i hate fall because i lose my 64 dodge on thanksgiving weekend until early spring. this year it's going to be even earlier because it's going away october 25th for 2 or 3 weeks for body work and paint then i'm going to put it in the garage for the paint to cure. so i love and hate fall lol.

this weekend i have to deal with getting a suit for a funeral , try to find and buy chrome wheels and raised white letter tires, take my wife to yard sales, and maybe a country ride. and maybe even get some lobsters.

i don't really care much for sports. even nascar is boring. but i do love amature racing and grudge racing. and i feel sorry about your fridge, we had to get a new one this year and our old one was only around 20 years old.

I fell asleep in the middle of trying to make this post
Yesterday was miserably hot in my house, so hopefully it'll be nicer today.
My only real plan this weekend is to watch Spurs tomorrow morning, even though I can't make it to the pub for this one since I don't have any money left on my bus pass.

Which sports do you like? I'm mostly into hockey and soccer, but baseball games can be fun to go to as well, though I don't like to watch it on TV much.
Any sport you hate? I dislike basketball, probably mostly due to how embarrassing it was trying to do it in gym class. The teacher wouldn't let us leave until we made a basket, and I ended up being late to class multiple times because of it.
Did you participate in sports? Which ones? I did soccer a long time ago for a little, and more recently rugby.
Were you- School age/college/olympics/professional? I was in elementary school when I did soccer, about 6 years old, but quit quickly. I did rugby in college, but it was a club sport, not varsity.
Favorite Teams? My top favorite teams are Tottenham Hotspur and the Washington Capitals. The teams I consider "second tier" that I like but aren't top favorites are the Seattle Sounders and the San Francisco Giants. Then I also have a few minor league or lower level teams I like as well.
any memories of sports to share? My greatest sports memory was when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup, and the second was Spurs coming back from a 3-0 aggregate score to win the Champions League semifinal on away goals. Unfortunately the final of that year's Champions League didn't go so well.

I love fall but here seems a long way off as supposed to be 105 I think today...but enjoying the morning before gets too hot.

I played field hockey and lacrosse in high school and college

Diehard Steelers fan (grew up in Pittsburgh in 70s)

Going to field hockey camp and we had to do situps tp music think pulled every muscle I had ...lol...skiing in Zermatt in July still remember like yesterday

There might be some trouble shooting that you could do, if you haven't ordered a new one yet. If it's a fridge/freezer, and the freezer is still cold, it's probably something like frost build up blocking the circulation of air. Unplugging the fridge for a day may be enough to clear it out.
