There is a comedy club night tomorrow, it is supposed to go on all night. If I plan to go to church at 11pm like previous years, that might not be a good option for me but I go keep an open mind. I talked to Mr May about being bilingual is making my life interesting and difficult at the same time. I might go to Christmas Mass with the Danish congregation at 1pm and go to comedy club night in the evening. I have been meaning to see more people and dust up on my Danish language skill anyway since I would be carrying a prayer book I can easily follow along the service tomorrow if it is not working out then it will an interesting experience.

Christmas is hard this year. It's the first one without my mum and my husband. It's normally a great big family Christmas with my brother's family flying in and my mother-in-law and sister-in-law too. This year it's just me and my two children - my brother has been over three times already this year when mum died so can't afford to come again.

But I guess with only us three it will be far less stressful - no need to go mad on the shopping and cooking. No need to move all the furniture to fit everyone around the table and a lie in too. Thankful for small mercies. I'll be on my own on Boxing Day as the kids will be visiting their dad and his family. I shall spend the day moving the last of my things down to my new house and then sit in front of a good film with a bottle of bubbly and a huge box of chocolates

I've been making kipferl today - little almond and vanilla cookies. They're a bit of a tradition in my family brought over from Austria by my grandparents. Although I've had to make them sitting down as I fell over this morning and now have a sprained ankle, big lump on my head and a painful back, hip and shoulder - the bruises are very colourful 😂
I might make another batch tomorrow if I have time because 60 is probably not enough for the kids!

Merry Christmas everyone. Already Christmas Eve here in New Zealand.

My sister and her partner is currently travelling eight hours and will be staying at mums for Christmas. I'll be joining them Christmas day.
Will be nice to see my sister again I miss her.

Christmas day I expect to be as eventful as always. Usually mum making us feel guilty about something but she can't help the way she is. She's my mother and I still love her.
We'll have present opening and then Christmas lunch which mum has planned (far too much food).
No idea what time I'll go home but I hope to be here for a bit and see you all.

Tammy cat sends you hugs, she just came for pats.

Oh and incase people don't know its summer here in New Zealand, so no snow.

I work tomorrow until 1pm or so. I work in management for an upscale boutique grocery chain, and this is the busiest week of the year. Christmas Eve I cue up some holiday films and order a huge Chinese takeout feast. I also call some friends and share some cheer across the miles.

My son spends Christmas Eve with his mom and her family. He comes over Christmas day in the evening and will stay over Boxing Day and go home the day after on the 27th.

I'll spend most of Christmas Day being a lazy bum, resting from the holiday crunch. I might go hiking if it isn't too too cold. Spiral ham for dinner.

I'll also reflect and be grateful for having a much better life (relatively speaking) than large swathes of the world's population. This song - my favorite this time of year - pretty much sums up my attitude about the holidays.

We had a Xmas one year where it was just my mom, my sister and I. She asked us what we wanted and my sis and I both said Nachos! So, that's what she made. We have tried to do it every years since. Really easy to make (takes about an hour at most)

I know that I have gotten older birthdays and holidays do shrink in how excited I get about such. I still do indulge my niece's two girls but they are not yet even in elementary school so they still love that magic of Christmas that does make it more fun, but the rest of the family is more and more us becoming old(er) farts. LOL
