Thanks for opening @cymbele and for the tag @may71. Loved everyone's posts----such a wonderful family SF is!!!!...

Admit this Christmas is hard as 2022 was quite a year as they say... but am thankful and grateful for all here and for my wonderful husband.

We did put up our tree and few decorations along with new Christmas cactus & poinsettias so festive. Did manage to get out a few "real cards" and e-cards (text & email---admit love that can do that now)...so felt good to reach out to folks...

Also made a coconut pie from my mother-in-law's recipe box with my husband (after disastrous attempt at a "Martha Stewart -like "version of the same---don't ask....down the sink it went...lol).

At least 2nd attempt at pie appears edible so will know later today as taking to our friends to watch Steelers game and eat lots of course. Christmas Day will just be the two of us... having steaks- fairly low key and will watch the Rams game--as he cooks all year long so this is a bit of a well deserved break for him.

Wishing all the very best---whatever your plans and the weather may be---sending *hugs to all!

Thank you for opening and tagging me @cymbele and @may71 . Sorry if I missed anyone.

It's very quiet today and tomorrow. I do have my 2 sons coming for dinner, so I'm grateful for that. Making them prime rib steaks, stuffed shells and mixed vegetables. I'm going to try to find something to watch on Hulu or Netflix or maybe just listen to my new Elvis CD.

Happy Holidays to all the good people here Screenshot_20221224-132432.jpg

Not many plans, aside from going through as many Stargate episodes as I can on Amazon Prime before they (yet again) yank it. (Apparently due to licensing or syndication disagreements, as in someone not getting paid what they feel they're entitled to. It's been a recurring issue over the years. Seems like a big waste.)

Anyhow, Christmas time used to be my favorite time to go around the NW wilderness coast and logging lands between the US and Canada. Absolutely zero people there at this time, only the rain, wind, and storm (or the quiet fog). Not that anyone often went there during any other time, either! 😂

Im meeting some of my partners extended family and they are very kind and seem to like me so far. But Im struggling personally/mentally, because I feel very awkward not being able to contribute conversationally since all of their stories are very light hearted and happy while any that I have....are not that...And Im also missing my own family and wishing that things weren't the way they are (Im only talking to one grandma out of my whole family) but Im muddling through I guess, currently taking care of my partner since he drank a bit to much hanging out with his brother. Thankfully we dont have anything going on in the morning so we can sleep in and get rid of any hangover we may have. Anyways, happy holidays everyone, hope you find peace and joy!

Happy Holidays, everyone.

My focus is not entirely on the holidays, because my main event as it always has been, is the New Year. It's like looking forward to the Super Bowl or the World Series, to me. The only thing that came close to anything that has gone good for me in the holidays, was yesterday after getting a good thrift haul on X-Mas eve, despite the weather. Unfortunately my 4 day vacation is up, it's been pissed away because of stupid circumstances and basically caving into mental stagnation.

X-Mas is today of course, but my mind is shifted to the resuming of work later tonight. 2022 has been an abysmally underwhelming year for me, a continuation of a 5 year drought that's begging to be snapped. I don't expect everything to be perfect every year, but I'm tired of every year filled with more bad memories than there are of good ones. If the ratio could at least be tilted in favor of good stuff, then I'll conclude that it as a huge victory. So, sights are set to 2023 in hopes that it'll be something of a turning point, but with what's riding into from 2022 into 2023, my hopes are considerably low. We'll see.

Other than that, happy holidays, people.

I'm not sure if you celebrate Christmas, but you're certainly welcome to the thread!
I always do. I almost did this year but 5 mins with the fam. Made the best of it. Where I am, the weather is BRUTAL lately. Like "feels like -10 degrees F" kind of weather with 20-30mph winds.

I was panicing because everyone with a key was 2 hours away and I locked myself out of the house. I probably would be an icecube if the window didn't happen to be open. I love the holidays but the weather sometimes is a bit much.
