Gasoline tends to be relatively inexpensive in Alaska, courtesy of the petroleum industry that exists on the "north slope". I haven't been there since 2005 but I remember being surprised by how low the price was back then.

I guess there's got to be some kind of base price for what it costs per gallon from a tanker truck, and then it's a matter of overhead and charging what the market will bear.

45 cents per/g, that's a big difference. My guess is that $2.75 is right on the highway or something.

Hahaha. Yeah, that temperature kind of grabs one's attention, no?

I absolutely love Alaska. If I could retire there, I would. Homer, Alaska is one of the nicest places in the world. Fantastic place to grow veggies in the summer because of the very long days...the sun stays up until 11:30p and rises again early. Of course, the inverse is that the nights are very long in the winter...which wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

What's really odd (at least I think so) is that I live in the most expensive county in the entire state yet our gas is lower than downtown, but downtown is super pricey, too.
