It's only $2.30/gal where I live, but go just 10 miles away and it's almost $2.75/gal
I guess there's got to be some kind of base price for what it costs per gallon from a tanker truck, and then it's a matter of overhead and charging what the market will bear.

45 cents per/g, that's a big difference. My guess is that $2.75 is right on the highway or something.

Gasoline tends to be relatively inexpensive in Alaska
Mostly I was making a joke about noticing the gas price and not the -62F. $2.42 is pretty cheap though.

Alaska eh? How do you like it?

You might have an easier time with the ladies outside of Alaska though. The m/f ratio is notoriously high

Actually that price is in the downtown area of the capital here
I guess that makes sense. Downtown real estate may be more pricey. The place with $2.30 may have that price to lure people out if they are in a low-traffic area. It's probably worth traveling for a bit to save that much. I'd fill up gas cans for that price.

Hahaha. Yeah, that temperature kind of grabs one's attention, no?

I absolutely love Alaska. If I could retire there, I would. Homer, Alaska is one of the nicest places in the world. Fantastic place to grow veggies in the summer because of the very long days...the sun stays up until 11:30p and rises again early. Of course, the inverse is that the nights are very long in the winter...which wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

What's really odd (at least I think so) is that I live in the most expensive county in the entire state yet our gas is lower than downtown, but downtown is super pricey, too.
