Re: Jim's cafe Tuesday 3rd June

I had to wait until 12:01 here to feel comfortable writing in the Tuesday thread but now it is Tuesday here too....

Well I got a new computer a week or so ago. Was long over due and I really like it but has been a problem this evening. It has a touchscreen which is nice but it is a very sensitive touch screen and sitting in front of an open window with a glowing monitor at night makes the tiny flies and moths land on it. A single moth fluttered across the screen and opened about 10 files while launching word excel and internet explorer.... And when the cat gets up to say hi a swish of the tail sends me searching for where the cursor landed....Maybe someday I will learn instead of swearing and looking for it I could just touch the screen myself where i wanted it to be :dunno:

Re: Jim's cafe Tuesday 3rd June

Today has been extremely frustrating so far - everything I have tried to do has stalled due to not enough information from the "upper echelons" in the office. So now I am going out for an hour to play with a colleague's new puppy. I expect to return full of puppy bounce and joy :D

Re: Jim's cafe Tuesday 3rd June

It's still morning here and I have yet to go to work. Should be busy at work today which I would like (my work ebbs and flows -sometimes i'm flat out busy and other times I am bored). Looking forward to the day and I get to play tennis after work for the first time this year with a new player. I hope I can keep up. I know it is time for World Cup but it is not even known about in my social circles (USA -of course).

Have a great day everyone.

Re: Jim's cafe Tuesday 3rd June

Hello, all! :)

Didn't see this before I went to bed last night, and then was up and out early today. Not much on my plate now that I'm home again.

Yay, World Cup! My city has so many people from different home countries that there will be people cheering for all teams!

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday! :arms:

Jim's Café - June 4, 2014

Good morning, Café! :)

I went to bed at a reasonable hour and woke up before 6 a.m. Star Kitty has been fed and is snoozing again. Well loved cats have a good life, I think! :D

Helping with an audio-visiual presentation today. Well, with putting it together on the computer. Choosing the photos and positioning them in the PowerPoint presentation. It's kind of fun. Must also figure out if I can renew my library books or if I must return them all.

Nothing else on my plate today.

Hope it's a wonderful day for all! :balloonhearts:

Good morning!

I did well at Tennis yesterday. I was able to keep up for about an hour. Today later on I have a phone interview. I like my job but I worry about being furloughed again when it is slow. My expenses are high this year since I bought the new car (car payments, bleh). Life is good though.

Good day all,

Not got much planned for today. Just ordered a repeat prescription of my meds, not very exciting. Going to have a long soak in the bath later and perhaps play some games.

Re: Jim's Café - June 4, 2014

morning coffee forums,

had a bit of a freak out last night regarding new gecko Gilligan. it had seemed to me that she had not moved in some 15 hours. she looked okay but i wanted to make sure she wasn't dead. because that's what i automatically assume will happen instantly when living things are in my care. -___- so i put my hand in tank and sort of slowly cupped it in to the substrate beneath the possibly dead/possibly sleeping Gilligan. POOF she headed off in to the foliage at high speed. Very much alive. I think she may have started eating now. That is also difficult to tell. She licks the equivalent of a fruit protein shake from a little deli cup. If she doesn't eat all of it, it's tough to tell that it has been touched at all. ;)

Starting switch from effexor back to Cymbalta today. Hopefully i don't go all batty. Effexor withdrawal is supposed to be bad, but as I am just switching over to a different drug of the same class, it shouldn't, presumably, be an issue.

Re: Jim's Café - June 5, 2014

Good afternoon! :)

I was up early and puttered a bit this a.m., then went out for a walk with a friend. There is an art gallery near us, and behind one of the halls, there is a garden labyrinth. In older times, when people went on religious pilgrimages, some people were unable to do the journey, so they built elaborate intertwining labyrinth paths in their gardens. As you walk, you are supposed to meditate. To be honest, I can think a bit while I'm walking a labyrinth, but I really need to focus on the path or I get all confused with the direction I'm going in. Some labyrinths cover a few miles because they are so intricate and go back and forth to and from the center. It was good exercise today!

TE, congratulations on finding the sale goodies! It's always nice to find the bargoons! :D

Not much else new here. Maybe I'll put my feet up for the rest of the day. :) Hope everyone has a great day! :arms:

Re: Jim's Café - June 5, 2014

Yikes, TE, I know what you mean about feeling trapped! :scared: There is a difference between labyrinths and mazes. Mazes have dead ends and false turns, and often you cannot see over the shrubs. A labyrinth is open and the path is open - though can be confusing if you don't pay attention (like me!). I would not enjoy a maze as I would probably begin to panic.

This is the explanation given for labyrinth vs maze at "diffen" - link

There is also a flower garden there - in the private home part of the gallery. My friend knows the person who owns the gallery, so we were invited to have tea on the porch overlooking a magnificent flower garden. Super huge irises, a pond with a bridge over it, large trees, bright red poppies...and the wild birds just going non-stop from tree to tree! So beautiful!
