Jim's Cafe TGIF June 6, 2014

Good Morning all - Hope Friday and the weekend brings a sense of rest and relief to all as well as the opportunity to relax and maybe even enjoy an hour or two at some point this weekend.

I have a very empty calendar for the weekend and am pleased about that. Hopefully the weather will be nice and I can leisurely work around the house and gardens to make some small improvements and catch up at a relaxed pace with a lot of stops in the hammock or lawn chair for lengthy sitting around watching the animals and kids play.

Here's me sitting wondering what TGIF means - oh, I get it - Thank Goodness it's Friday, lol!........ We had an earthquake here this afternoon, only a moderate one, but it lasted for quite a long time, as earthquakes go, like about 6 seconds........ made a skirt out of an old dress today, that I was going to throw away, am trying to finish all my bits and pieces of sewing jobs before the end of the year, that's my goal - and start becoming more disciplined about reading the books I need to. Taken to going for 30 mins brisk walking every day - feeling better for it, even though it's mid winter here now, we only get snow here about once every 70 years!

you sound like you really enjoy the outside a lot.

i'm totally the oppositte

i guess my weekend will be spent watching tv, reading, listening to my music, just getting by really

getting no sleep makes each of the days seem longer than it actually is

Just noticed on the side bar the typo that said "Goof morning " oops....

Rehabilitating old clothes by sewing - I like that concept but is not in my skill set. Glad the quake was not major!

Emily83 I do tyr to enjoy the outdoors because if I do not intentionally get out than it can become like winter where I easily go 2-3 weeks without setting foot outside my door. Watching TV and reading is not a bad alternative if that relaxes you - hope you find something interesting this weekend :)

Today has been pretty awesome and it has only just begun on account of I have done nothing and intend to do nothing; I don't even feel guilty about it. Just mindlessly gaming and ignoring my phone. I even bothered to cook a nice breakfast. Mmm hash browns and red onion and rosemary sausages.

Good morning folks!

It's a lovely day here in sunny ole' England so we will be cracking out the barbeque out later on. My dad got a new barbecue for his 50th birthday (the old fart) which will go down a treat this summer. Nothing better than barbeque and summer salads. In the mean time I am just relaxing, will probably do some reading around my mentor preparation module (boring) so I will actually have a clue what I am talking about in my assignment. Unfortunately I am working all weekend so for I will TGIS (thank god it's Sunday).

Good morning! :)

It is another nice day here, so hoping to get in a walk at some point. Off to volunteer at Bingo later today. Need to do laundry and that's about it.

NYJmpMaster, enjoy the time outside watching the animals and kids play! It sounds wonderful.
urPrecious - wow, an earthquake! Glad to hear it was small! Very impressive skirt-making. Terrifically eco-friendly to re-purpose a dress into a skirt. :D
Emily83, a good book is a kind of journey, don't you think? I love to curl up and read!
Adam, it sounds like you're relaxing and enjoying your day! Mmmm, yum - hash browns!
Butterfly, maybe the work will fly by if you can arrange for Dad to barbecue Sunday night dinner? Yum!
TE, YOU have a great weekend, too sweetie!

I hope everyone gets good weather, good company, and a good weekend! Peace out, man! :hippie:

Good morning
Going to see the pdoc in a few minutes before work. Should be able to give him a good report for the past month. In general I have been good with occasional dips in mood like now.
No plans for the weekend. BORING. I hope to go see Maleficent at the movies. But no one to hang out with. But it will be ok.

Re: Jim's Cafe TGIF June 6, 2014

Good morning everyone.

It's been some time since I've checked in here. Things have been a little better. I'm still struggling with depression and symptoms of PTSD, but since I began EMDR a few weeks ago, the symptoms of PTSD have been less. I've had a little more appetite, gotten a little more sleep, and my mood has been less dark in the last few weeks. I've still had more really dark moments and days than I'd like and, to be honest, it's still disrupting my life. I will be honest and say that I don't trust this improvement, because I've had other moments of similar improvement in the last sixteen months and none of them have lasted. I am trying to just enjoy this respite instead of worrying about when it will end, but that's easier said than done given how tired I am of this seemingly endless episode of depression.

I hope everyone has a good rest of their day. It's hot and humid here so we're going to probably stay inside the rest of the day. I might make some smoothies for us later to enjoy with some popcorn and a movie. Tomorrow there is a quilt show I want to check out and we'll likely go swimming at a friend's. Sunday is Mass in the morning, probably grilling something yummy for dinner, and laundry and preparation for VBS this week. For now, another cup of coffee :)

Jimk's cafe: Saturday 7 june

Just realised that as New Zealand is the first country in the world to greet the sun each morning (when it chooses to shine, that is!), that it would make sense if I began the daily thread for the new day. If that's not OK with anyone, I'm happy to not do that - but mostly, by the time America gets going the day here is just about over, so it's pointless writing my plans for it down, (it's more of a dated account of what happened....)

So, after some housework and laundry, it's cooking an early dinner of fish and a sweet potato (kumara) bake + always we have stir-fried veggies & eat at lunchtime. Then I'm off to a new place where I know some lovely ladies gather for encouragement, support and fellowship. Hubby will probably be out in the garden (thank goodness he loves gardening, otherwise it wouldn't get done!). Game of Scrabble likely, and then a spa bath and then continuing firstly a Blackadder, then Startrek series on DVD. Hubby's favourite word is Rhythm - except he always used to forget how to spell it, so he wrote it out and keeps it taped to his computer, lol!!

Heyroo!

Going to start buckling down on the school stuff. I have chosen to go for all the generaas first (ugh, calculus... *headdesk*). Will take English 102 first. School doesn't start until October 20th. But I need to whip my writing into shape. Good thing I have a writing book from when I started college. Time to get crackin!

The freshly groomed Tommy Tom says Heyroo!

 to all!

The 6th was Jim's birthday? I did not realize that. I hope Jim realizes how much he is missed, how much he was loved.

Re: Jimk's cafe: Saturday 7 june

Good morning! :)

Wow, Saturday and I'm awake before 7 a.m. Star has been fed and watered and she is a happy cat now. I've got my coffee so I'm also happy. No specific plans for today. Have general housework done and am not in dire need of groceries. A good day for a walk!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend filled with good things! :giraffe:
