3) What are the most important rules when going on a date? (Even if you dont date, have never been on a date, humor me)
1) This is written from a heterosexual male viewpoint.
2) You should offer to pick her up, and your car should be clean; clean it before you go, wiping down the dash and everything. Get rid of the junk behind the driver seat.
3) When you arrive at her house go up to the door and ring the doorbell, do not sit in the driveway and honk the horn.
4) Give her your arm to hold on if she willl take it as you go out to the car.
5) Open the car door for her if she will let you; you should know before hand if she is independent and does not like traditional role gestures.
6) Wear a clean blue button down shirt with a plain white t-shirt underneath, leave two buttons open at the top of the shirt. Jeans for a first date; a first date should be informal, open, and friendly.
7) A first date should be a a coffee bar of some sort, maybe with alcohol, but alcohol should be limited. This avoids the commitment of a long time dinner date; if you hit it off you can ask her to dinner or a movie.
8) Conversation; if she takes the lead in the conversation then let her, respond with all your heart, put some effort into it. If she does not take the lead then you do; ask about her music likes, whether she has any pets, her preference in art, etc; keep the conversation flowing smoothly back and forth. Whatever you do, never lie to your date, always be perfectly honest.
9) When it is time to go home walk her to the front door; she might wait to see if you open the car door for her. I am older, so this is common. Ask if you can hug her, but do not move in for a kiss or anything more physical than a hug.
10 Text her the next day, in the afternoon, telling her what a great time you had. Invite her for dinner on the next date if you hit it off.
