Memories of Those Lost but Still Loved

I miss my uncle so much today. I miss going shopping in the mall together. I miss taking breaks from shopping to get pizza. I miss the Christmas dinners at his house that he would lie and say he cooked but we all knew he got catered lmao. I miss going to his favorite diner and eating disco fries, then going into cheap little dollar stores and seeing if we could find anything worth buying. I miss him calling our house and poking fun of my mom while I brought her the phone. He'd ask what I was doing and when I said nothing he'd say, "so you're just sitting there staring at a blank wall?!" He used to have us cracking up all the time. He'd tell us these outrageous tales and when we would ask my mom about it she would be laughing so hard saying that none of it ever happened and he was lying his butt off. I remember my brother and I finally pranked him back by changing his ringtone to Cher and he couldn't figure out how to change it back for a month. Once he did figure it out he decided to leave it anyway.

I miss going to see theater shows and plays with him. Last year I bought tickets to a show by myself because no one else was available but I was determined to go. The play was very popular and the whole place was packed without any spaces, but there was one seat open right next to me. When the play was over we gave a standing ovation. I had tears streaming down my face because I KNEW that my uncle had been right in that seat next to me the whole damn time. I could feel it, almost as if I'd turn my head I'd see him there.

I miss him so much my heart hurts. It's been 9 years. I don't think I will ever stop missing him.
That was bittersweet and a joy to read, thank you.

My grandmother is the oldest memory of loss. She was the only family I really knew at all besides parents and that I saw somewhat frequently. Every Christmas for years was spent with her in Miami Beach for a couple of weeks. It was so jewish there that every block had a delicatessen and a Chinese restaurant. My grandmother and her husband owned a hotel on the beach. For old people:) There were lots of them in that area in those days. I think it's what's called South Beach now. It was one of those Art Deco buildings of stucco from the 20's and 30's, with thick horizontal glass rolling windows and a gated elevator and shuffleboard games painted on the concrete outside. And I had free run of the place. Including sliding down the long curving stair banisters. Days spent in the pool or the ocean.
She gave the greatest sweetest hugs, let me cook and mess up her kitchen, and it's where I learned at an incredibly young age to play cards; pinochle, and canasta. Gin was the favorite. We'd sit and pass hours playing ...my dad and gm and gf... It was a happy love filled time for me every year. She left us when I was in my early 20's and about a week or two after she died, she came and visited me in a dream one night. After that night I was at peace with her leaving, her letting me know she was alright.

Reading this thread from the beginning has shown how many entries that I have made in remembrance to my hubby *nerves
But it does help to write one. So here goes again!

He died 7 years ago today.
Officially dead for half of his sons life.
I will always love you, nobody could and will replace you.
You were the very best and important part of me and I look forward to joining you much sooner than later.
I hurt so badly and it feels like today is as fresh as the moment you passed at 9.30am in the morning. 2 mins after I arrived to the hospital after an urgent request from doctors for me to attend.
I'm so sorry, I wanted to be there for you and hold you like I always did and promised to do when we needed one other.
You were the most loving, kind and incredible person I knew and I, and my life has lost its value and worth and is a waste of time.
I'm sorry
See you soon. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Cat is over the rainbow bridge now. Funny thing I feel like the last month has been a blur trying to take care of him and extending his life. I have cried more for him than my own parents. My friend came to support me and was crying also at the end. But he is at peace now -the cat- and I am almost through the initial phase of grief. I will be okay and life goes on.

Sad to hear about the loss of your cat family. It is always tough when our friends that have been with us for a long time has their time to move on come up. It sounds like you did your best to keep the faith and do right by him and I am glad that he had his home and family and that your friend is there to support you in this time.

It's so hard. Condolences cymbele. I hpe you can rest assured that the love you and your cat shared is still a part of you, a part of them, and made this old world a brighter place. I miss my kitties so much and hope we all see each other again on the other side. I wonder if they will train us to do new tricks for them in heaven.

When I lost my cat, it was like my heart was torn out of my chest and I was collapsing in on myself. His death was sudden and unexpected though. I hope your grief eases and you can remember that you gave your furry friend a great life and love. He will always be with you in your memories and thoughts.

The day comes and we do our very best for their good and comfort until it does. You have your joyful sweet memories to carry with you. I like to believe we will all be eventually reunited with them.
