2014 was the downfall of 2nd gen kpop groups.

Now at 2019 i am finally accepting that their reign is over, that to make room for the young ones the old ones (unfortunately) has to die... or else there wont be enough room for everyone.

But i just can’t help but feel
Blackpink’s Ddu du ddu du, Solo, and Kill this love, were all meant for 2NE1.

And that Red Velvet’s Zimzalabim were either meant for f(x) or SNSD/Girl’s Generation.

I know the 2nd gen groups are gone and these companies are still working with the same people who made/produces the same style of songs for both 2nd and 3rd gen.
I kinda see what you're saying. i think blackpink and red velvet's music are their own style. but i can definitely see the legacy of other groups in their music.

I meant in particularly the aforementioned songs not generally their whole body of work.
Like i can see 2NE1, f(x), and SNSD really owning those songs (perhaps even better).

Just my thoughts...

With 3rd gen kpop groups i just dont see them rocking a bad ass attitude like 2nd Gens did... to me 3rd gen kpop girl groups are way too soft, too girly, they all look so young like babies... and for them to act bad ass is always a miss (at least for me)

What scares me is that there’s a bottomless supply of new groups coming out every now and then... Every gen’s era is ticking to their inevitable demise like 1st and 2nd gens did. I hope the companies have learned to handle kpop groups better and with respect.

2nd gen’s downfall was tragic, like literally how they all went down... I feel only SISTAR left in good spirit.

I just can’t ride along with the 3rd gen wave except for Mamamoo (they’re awesome)

Not hating, just my thoughts.

i know you're not hating. both generations are different. the 2nd was a lot more badass. i definitely can't see Twice pulling off badass. i think girls generation is the best there will ever be. i don't think that can be topped.

How do you define 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation groups @SBV24? I'm fairly new to kpop and Shinee got me into it - are they 2nd gen? I couldn't help but notice a similarity in some of kpop's hits and found that a lot of songs are written by the same people. So do producers really care too much about one groups image? Some of Shinee's songs could have been for Super Junior (Lucifer) and vice versa.

What happens to the girl groups? Seems to me (being into Shinee and Exo) that boy bands naturally go because of military service but what about the girls? Do the entertainment companies stop promoting them?
