Quote from the Big Lebowski. "Sorry I wasn't listening" which he said in front of the Sheriff of Malibu......and then what happened, well.....go rent the movie. BTW: I am going no where near Post 796 in this thread.
Oh, come on. Join in on the fun and controversy I usually cause.

Guys wonder why so many women are attracted to assholes. Here's the thing, we're not. But we're also not attracted to effeminate men and cowards either. It just so happens that the ones who aren't cowards act like assholes sometimes, and the ones who are, are usually more compassionate. What a lot of us really look for is someone who isn't overly sensitive, isn't a coward, but is still compassionate, and isn't a total asshole. Is that possible? No? Didn't think so.
If I were to switch your gender, in this post, and repost in this forum....well I would be banned for 100 years from this forum.

I am thinking my anxiety is getting better each day, and without meds. It is a tough road to give up medication cold turkey, but I am encouraged by it all.

I've been in hundreds of internet fights in the past 10 years from a toxic motorcycling forum.....I am so happy to leave that toxic environment and happy to find this forum.

I've been banned a few times and threatened with a permaban so I'm not treading into your waters. I will say, that people like you make this forum a better place, honestly.

I'm thinking how I'm going to hang with a side after his breast cancer mastectomy tomorrow and how well, no one really cares compared to when it happens to a woman. I realize he's not losing a part of himself in the way a woman is, surely, but it's still cancer too.
Not a single person has even phoned to say good luck... Or whatever. Too awkward?
Not many people realize that breast cancer in men is nearly always caused by one of the breast cancer genes which always makes it a very serious issue, not only for him but also for his family.

I'm sorry he's going through this. It's major surgery and a mind fuck no matter what gender. And possibly harder for men to talk about than for women.

That's interesting. I should pass that first bit on.
Thanks, Lucy. *hug

Honestly, 99% of that is just bitterness.

I can’t say anything about the dudes who say that shit online, since I don’t know their lives (just in case anyone reading this might get all butthurt).

But, in real life, every single guy I’ve ever known who has said that, and I mean every single one without exception, the real problem was that they were hypersensitive to rejection and so never actually tried to take things in a romantic direction with women (if they ever actually interacted with women in the first place).

You talk to them, trying to figure out where they’re coming from, and they’ll have two or three stories about women who rejected them and how affected they were by it. And that’s it, that’s their life story. Meanwhile, they don’t realize that the “assholes” who supposedly have so much romantic success are out there getting rejected by more women than that in an average week.

If a dude has a problem with our culture putting such an emphasis on men making the first move, I’m sympathetic to that. If a dude is socially awkward and thus finds it difficult to navigate the dating world, I’m sympathetic to that. If a dude is so lacking in self-awareness as to not recognize his own contribution to the problem, and so egotistical as to decide that the issue must be with everyone else, well then I’m all out of sympathy.

You're right. They are hypersensitive to rejection. But the question is why they get rejected in the first place. For me, and I think a lot of other women, we like some masculine qualities. And it's just not attractive how some guys act. They think that it makes them look sensitive, in a good way, but in actuality it just makes them look like pussies. Like I said, I don't like cowards. I like men who can stand up for themselves and me if necessary.

I'd like to add, though, that the same applies to women. Feminine or not, being sensitive, and being cowardly and feeling entitled, are not the same :)
