I've just applied for a job. Eeek! Two years ago I would have been able to do that job standing on my head so why am I so terrified of it now? Ugh, I wish I could unsend that email...
In my late teens/early twenties, I worked for a little family owned restaurant for a few years. It was somewhere I came to feel really comfortable. I was friendly with the owners, played with their kids when business was slow, had dinner at their house a few times, that kind of place.
A year and half ago, I decided I was gonna get my shit together, get back on my feet again. I was in a bad place, sure, but I figured that going back there would be an easy way to dip my toes back into the working world.
They were surprised to see me, but happy to hire me again.
The anxiety was so bad, I spent the whole night before my first shift puking my guts out, and had multiple panic attacks
during the shift. I finally had to just get the fuck out of there and ignore my phone for a few days until they stopped calling.
If I couldn’t handle that, what are my odds of surviving a
real job.
Anyway, good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great!
