It sucks having signed a contract with my doctor. So even though I feel, or I'm in more pain one day or the other, i'll never get an increase in pain meds. I guess I read your post @1964dodge ... thinking of you. I know I'm no where near the way you are, I feel for you. *sadhug

I can't ever be happy until my younger son gets his act together and makes his way in life. I love him, I want him to do well. The older son too, but he's managing ok.
I don't know this is the place to write this, it's not really a complaint. Just wishful that their lives get better.

I hope to ask God about this, in person, some day.
lol this is how i feel. god is not responsible for man's deeds but cmon he could help a little. i plan to ask him or probably one of his angels a lot of questions but sayng i don't question his plan but want to understand. like why he would take my 8 year old nephew and very young grandson before they had a chance to live. and why allow us to suffer with severe illness and chronic pain. i didn't believe in god for a year or two after my nephew died. i have a list why i can't commit suicide and being a sin and fearing hell was on the top of that list, now it isn't even on the list. it is supposed to be that god will not give you more than you can handle and now my pain is too high to cope with so i feel i have a green light from god. once i can deal with the rest of the list i'm gone. but one thing is a stickler, how not to hurt my family so i may be stuck until god calls me home. look at the bright side barb, at our age and health we are going home soon, at worst 5 or 10 years

I wish toxic people came with literal red flags. I've wasted so much time (months) on someone who literally turned out to be a poisonous viper.
please don't take this as an insult or attack on your character. i think the reason you find so many toxic people is that you have a good heart and give people a fair chance. some people take advantage of that and do bad things because they can. they gravitate to good people like you because others will call them out right off. in my opinon it's better to be like us and be fair with people but also set limits. when they start toxic behavior call them on it and if it happens again cut them off like a diseased hand. i hope you continue to be kind. although it would be good if toxic people had red flags or toxic tattooed to their forhead lol.

of course if our adult children aren't making the right decisions in life you are distressed and can be a major complaint. listen to advice from a parent that has been there and take what you want from my experience. we can help our adult children make their way in life but we have to set limits. for example if an adult child needs a few hundred bucks for rent we will try to help but if it's every month we have to say no.

it's a fine line to help a child or not. and the worst part is we don't want them to suffer. but if it comes to the point that you say no more help for a while you can still help a little. when my kids had to stand up on their own, once in a while goceries would magically appear in their car. like i said it's a tough call and i hope you can find a way to teach your children to fly on their own. by the way my kids turned out great my way. whenever one of us needs money we help each other out and we always loan each other money. and all the great stuff they do to help us out. my kids aren't rich but they do ok and can stand proud. you are a good parent just keep it up. as for the pain if you want to talk more please use my inbox. there i can talk more about options. of course options will be legal so i don't break rules

People in my job are just refusing to do parts of their job for no good reason and it's just frustrating that nothing seems to be getting done about it. There was a guy who used to primarily work at the hospital and moonlight with us at the crisis center as a level I clinician, and I'm pretty sure I could count on one hand the amount of times he'd actually showed up on time for his shifts and a lot of times that screwed us over because we'd have to reassign some of his work that he wasn't there to do, then there was one time the lead clinician assigned him to sit and monitor the adolescent side for an hour or two because she was trying to evenly distribute that task since a lot of people don't like just sitting back there. So that day he showed up an hour and 45 minutes late, then threw a fit when he was told to go sit on the adolescent side and just went back home. Don't know if that was ever addressed, but last month or so he decided he wanted to work here full time and was given a promotion to level II clinician. It's nothing I feel personally because I didn't apply for clin II at all, but I feel like it reflects badly on us as a team that he was given that and is now trained to be a lead himself.

Another recent promotion was given to someone who started working the same time as me. I thought she'd be decent and didn't mind seeing her get the promotion, but apparently she has been avoiding her new responsibilities that come with a higher-ranked position, and when she is lead, she assigns herself all the easiest caseload/intake. Like we have this one dude who comes in every day for a meal or two and we let him because he isn't disruptive, being around people is helpful for him, and we know his home life isn't so great, so she'll assign herself to do his intake since she can phone it in. And she just takes things out of order so she only has easy cases. No other leads do that. The others make an effort to be fair, although they may assign themselves a smaller caseload due to having more responsibilities as lead.

Then the other evening two of our techs were supposed to trade off between working front desk half the night then going on the adolescent side the other half, but the one guy refused to go to the adolescent side for some reason and left the other person back there, so they got really pissed off and were telling a coworker that they would refuse to watch the adolescent side at all in the future, and this coworker told me they were also badmouthing other coworkers and saying why they all suck and are bad at their jobs, and this was all in front of the one adolescent consumer we've had staying with us, who's had a history of severe behavioral problems and definitely needs to have better behavior modeled for him than that. Plus to be fair, this person is the one I've heard the most complaints about how they do their job. They purposely escalate people sometimes at the front desk, one time I heard they left people sitting up front for a long time and didn't bring them through security when they were supposed to because they wanted to make sure they got out of work on time, and that's not even the first time I've heard about them modeling inappropriate behavior or giving harmful advice to the adolescent consumers.

I have no idea if anything ever gets done about any of this bs, but I doubt it, since it just keeps happening. I try to do everything I can and it just frustrates me.

i don't know whose idea it was to make a life cycle the way it is. i think they should have us start out in life very old and sick and year by year our body gets younger and younger by todays standards. this way we can really appreciate things and life just keeps getting better. the only drawback is at end of life we turn into an infant then nothingness. but i think it's a better system lol

mike
yes. It is messed up isn’t it. Like we go full circle from dependency and helpless to independent to dependent and helpless again. Like who thought of this cockamamie developmental pattern? And why?

I have no doubt you are a very good parent. I've made mistakes, I think mother's guilt is what does it. I did use up a lot of my inheritance on my sons. I do get him groceries, and the older will get a bit of money if he needs it. I have to put my foot down though with the younger. He's not trying to get a job. So until then, it's a bit of groceries and times spent toghether. Thank you for the reply mike *hug

I agree with you, and the other message. Just like can't get hired without experience but can't get experience without being hired. That circle jerk of life. By the time you have the experience and wisdom for things you are breaking down...

This will undoubtedly sound absurd to most here, but I swear I just saw a shadow person out of the corner of my eye.

Not surprisingly I feel freaked out.

Where I live is nearly all elderly people and probably at least one person has died in my unit.

I don't know how many people believe in ghosts, but I do.

I believe. The world is or at least can be strange, weird, bad and wonderful in ways I can't fathom.
