It's really hard to give myself credit for the things I've fought through because I am scared to get myself feeling superior to others who may have had a harder time dealing with similar situations.

Don't compare, if you can, at least try not to! That's what I have found has been one of the most healthy things for me. You've earned the right to feel good about what you've accomplished thus far in life. So you've got to be fair, and objective, again if you can - there. . . I know I'm fairly unbalanced, when it comes to whatever the opposite of (self) praise is! And that isn't good, because it isn't accurate. Or a clear picture & (true) view of reality.

you should give yourself credit when desered. just like chronic pain or illnesses everyone has their own tolerances . so no matter what we go through we have it harder or less severe than others. that means to be proud of what you have accomplished and recognize your hard work.

Drug addiction. In my old neighborhood I couldn't walk outside without seeing people visibly high. In my new neighborhood it's a few blocks away thank goodness but still rampant.

I admit that I don't understand it at all, especially the street-level needle addictions. Mostly, I don't understand why it's so common. And I hate the politically correct term "drug user." They are not "using" the drugs - the drugs are using them! They invite a demon into their bodies and souls. I know so many people, including my best friend, whose families are devastated by addicts. Her older sister is a black hole who has sucked up literally hundreds of thousands of dollars from her parents. They put her through rehab many times, supported her son, and now the daughter is still leeching off her remaining parent even though this addict is now sixty years old. She is high all the time and forces her elderly mother to do all the cooking and cleaning. Her mother fell down and broke her shoulder in the shower, and the useless daughter came home from the pub and passed out and left her mother lying there with a broken bone for hours and hours. Nice work at being a human being. She is a horrible daughter, mother, and older sister. My friend used to look up to her when they were growing up - her big sister. Now she has cut her out of her life completely. As has her son.

You don't "use" intoxicating drugs. They use you. You trade away your humanity and become a hungry ghost. So very, very sad. And of course many addicts come from backgrounds of abuse - but in taking drugs they become the very monster that hurt them - they neglect or abuse their kids and families. But I can certainly respect and even revere those who get clean and try to make amends.

I feel ashamed of my country. I feel ashamed to be an Australian. We voted no to a referendum for an indigenous vote to parliament. I like to think my country is inclusive and progressive, but this result just isn't. For shame.
I feel it. I am a permanent resident and I had high hopes that things were changing for the better. For the future. This just adds to the end of my hopes for a land I felt would've been my home.

I can't have company over. It does make sense I guess, but I wouldn't have someone in here that isn't trustworthy. Yet my landlord now has another different woman staying here, I have no lock on my door and I always close my bedroom door. A couple nights ago I came back to it being open. I know it's judging, but sheesh it's been an endless parade of next, next next woman with him. There's no use saying anything, i've been here quite a while so asking for a lock wouldn't be something he'd do. I just want my own privacy protected. I shouldn't complain, a roof over my head is much more than many people have. But there's my complaint, it should be under petty.

i think it's a major complaint. you should be able to feel safe and secure where you live. maybe bring it up as " no big deal but i would like a lock on my door", all he can do is say no right?
