I'm so done with the way some people treat the gay/trans 'debate' as "just a difference of opinion/different ideologies", and claiming that the LGBT+ community is "shoving an agenda down people's throats".

For queer people, this isn't some hypothetical debate we engage in to sound smart and make people feel bad. It's about trying to get to a world where being openly gay or trans doesn't put you in a state of perpetual danger. All we want is to be able to hold our partner's hand in public, or even just walk down the street, without carrying the justified concern someone is gonna try to beat or murder us over it. That isn't an unreasonable thing to want, but the kind of people who make these comments would never get that, cos they don't have to feel that same fear, they haven't had these experiences.

I'm just so sick of the way some people treat the conversation like it has the same stakes as a Game of Thrones hot take debate, because those are the highest stakes they ever experience.

Picked up an extra shift last night to help out, then I was supposed to have an appointment in the morning after to get my testosterone shot. At this point, I'd already been awake for over 24 hours because I had 2 appointments in the morning on Monday then worked 1pm-7am. I grabbed some breakfast when I got off work, but then when it was time to head to my appointment, the bus never came. I was there waiting at the stop, and a few of the other routes went by, but there were supposed to be 2 of the one I was waiting for, and either one was supposed to get me down there in time. I saw neither. I could have walked because it's just under a mile and a half, but I was so tired and hoping to avoid that. And by the time I knew the buses evidently weren't coming it was too late. I had to cancel the appointment, and I was angry because I could have already been home and in bed if I'd known I wasn't going to make my appointment, and I wasted all that time for nothing.

It’s the 3rd day in a row electricity has gone out. It’s a common intermittent occurance in the area for years every week or so. But this is ridiculous. As much as we pay for electric in this area it should have been fixed long ago. But the money goes in personal pockets instead. I’ll be so glad to leave this state with its f#*’k*d up worthless old grid.

i hate how unqualified people make policies about pain meds. i wish that some could have chronic pain even if for only 6 months to a year, and give them a hard time to get their meds, it would change their minds fast lol. i also hate how some people with chronic pain get looked down on and thinking they are addicts or drug seekers. very few pain patients get addicted to pain meds. we do get dependant on it which is normal but not phscologically addicted. a quote from the one that started this opioid crises (and i am paraphrasing) " there is no difference between the legitimate pain patient and an addict. they both feel better after taking opioids" of course i feel better. i'm not getting high my pain level is going down.

I'm one of the 5246 on the standard waiting list, and this info has all been updated for the first time in 3 months (apparently that's how they usually do it).
....3 months ago they were seeing people referred in April of 2019.
They made 1 month of progress in 3 months of time.
I got referred to them in March of this year.
If this is representative of the rate things are gonna move going forward, it's going to take 15 years before i even get my first appointment.

Given that these are the people who can officially approve me for the hormones and surgeries i'm going to need, that's....worrisome. The thought of waiting 5 years (for the surgeries, i can get the hormones through other channels) didn't seem so bad, but 15 is another story. I'd be 44 years old by the time i could even be seen by them.

I have basically 3 choices in pharmacies. My preferred one is a local chain. There is also my insurance company's mail pharmacy and the evil CVS.

Whats happening though is these ultra expensive medicines are not being stocked by my local pharmacy so I either have to go to CVS or mail order. So at this point for example, my Mounjaro and my dexcom gcm sensors come from CVS and everything else from local pharmacy.

Problem is that makes it more complicated, including getting my doctors to send to two different pharmacies.

grr I would much rather support a local pharmacy than CVS!

As it stands, issues with the medicines supply chain has been going on for hell of a long time but has reached unprecedented levels over the last couple of years. The reasons behind this are varied from issue getting hold of raw materials, fluctuating prices plus "business practices" by the big players within the pharmaceutical chain.

In the US, I suspect an additional part of the issue may be due to your healthcare system/medical insurance and more specifically the role of pharmacy benefits managers who act as intermediaries between the insurance companies and the pharmacies where it comes to reimbursing the pharmacies for drugs that have been dispensed. It's not unheard of for the pharmacies to be reimbursed at a price that is less than what they bought it in for. So it brings into question as to what extent is a pharmacy willing to take such a finacial hit? So why stock something you know you're going to make a loss on?

So yeah, things are pretty much fucked up.

i'm lucky walmart carries all of my meds. i used to use another chain that i prefered but they fell out of network and with all of my meds a major retailer has more in stock usually

Wasn't able to get myself scheduled for my testosterone injection yet. I expected I could do it on Friday because for a while I was literally always doing it on a Friday, but they said there was no schedule for medical assistants that day. I wonder if they've cut back on MA hours/availability or something, because I used to always be able to schedule for whenever I needed, and the past few times I've struggled. But I need to go in to do it because I know from experience I will skip a lot of doses if I have it in gel form, and I feel like I'll skip all the time if I'm injecting myself. I heard there's more recently come out with a pill form of testosterone that doesn't destroy your liver or whatever like the old ones did, but I probably couldn't get it covered by my insurance because AFAIK it's fairly new and not too well-established here. But I am getting annoyed about this and wish I just had a pill I could take for it along with my other ones.

I need to say this. The more I learn about the details of UK life and law, the more I don't want to live here. I did make that choice and will go forward with it, in agreement with the husband, and I don't consider it a sacrifice. I accept it and am grateful for the rights I will have here on my visa (in a few months).

But I cannot deny the facts. Healthcare, education, immigration law, etc. but especially, workers' rights suck massively compared to where I come from. I don't want to discuss any of these here, they're not fun discussions and if curious, anyone can research everything online... but these things are such major issues, and probably the only cause of anxiety/depression states I might experience in the future. I am extremely happy in my personal life, and I hope to get lucky somehow for the rest.

Exactly, don't be sorry as you've got nothing to be sorry for. This one's all on her.
Her focusing on the negatives is only to be expected because as you're no doubt aware, this is how they roll, it's all part of their way of exerting and maintaining control by employing destructive means.

Something which you may consider doing, is trying to openly show that you are not affected by her actions. Those who pull your chains do so in order to elicit a response. So by showing indifference would neuter that intention of theirs. This could weaken their position because they're no longer part of the equation as far as you're concerned because they are becoming an irrelevance.

Something that I've also noticed in the past that I've used a few times to my advantage. Not showing that you're affected when someone attempts to drop shit your way tends to result in them themselves getting intensely pissed off and so fucking up the rest of their day. And all accomplished with the minimal effort on your part. I call that poetic fucking justice ⚖️ ⁴
