greedy corporations in the housing markets. they pay above market value to aquire multiunit buildings and trailer parks. there used to be 3 types of renters. 1. financially secure with luxury apartments, the poor and elderly and disabled subsidized apartments, and the working class. the working class used to have stable housing as long as they payed the rent. now millions are being priced out of the housing markets. until the last 5 or 10 years homelessness was a minor issue, usually addicts or alcoholics. lately homelessness has exploded. we should be ashamed

I heard about some new houses they are putting up a ways from me. They are supposed to be affordable. They start at around $500,000. Who the heck is that affordable for?

Exactly. Most people can't afford it. It's the same where i live. They built a tonne of new homes and most people can't afford them. Lots of homeless people and lots of empty homes. You'd think they'd make a solution here, but nope. Just keep leaving people to rot on the streets. Its despicable.

Teachers on the first day back at school after summer holidays:

Every year its the same deal, but every year its worse. All our clients come to us essentially saying "We fucked up bigger and badder than ever this year, now how you are going to fix it?!"
One client called us 20 times today alone, and there is zero shame, everything from forgotten passwords to "woops, I accidently fired 3 teachers on the system and now they don't exist anymore, how could you let this happen??"(about 4 clients did this today)

I feel like the last pair of trendy shoes in a black friday deal. They were rabid. We all had plans for after work, and we ALL flaked on them because we were too tired after dealing with those psychos.

I just found out the hard way that anaesthetic doesn't really work on me. Mid drilling during a filling.
Ouch. I've just been through 2 root canals in the last months and the doctors didn't believe me, as little as I am, that I would need extra anesthesia injection but they found out while trying to get me numb that more is better in my case. I'm sorry you had to have that happen and hope they were able to get you totally comfortable finally and got the work done.....

Maybe this is more petty instead of major, i don't know.

i had a seriously, what the fuck would you call it? Just a shit night where i was unstable, 2 hr crying episode unable to stop and i felt myself spiraling. i wanted to hurt myself, but i resisted. By around 11pm i tried calling the number my therapist gave me to get ahold of him during emergencies. i knew it was late and i argued with myself if it was an emergency or not. By an hr and a half i decided it was, because i was in a horrible state of distress. i panicked the first 2 rings and hung up before calling back and Ofcourse being late he didnt answer. Eventually i sent a lengthy message to my doctor asking to try new medicine or adding to what i have because this time of year is so difficult for me.

Since i didn't fall asleep until sometime early this morning i slept through all of my alarms and and woke up around 6:20. i start work at 6:30am. So i called the manager and explained i had a really bad night and didn't get to sleep until late and just woke. i apologized and he started off "so you're not coming in is what you're saying". If i can get a ride i will be there. Then he wanted to fuss at me saying my coworker drives all the way up here to get me and i am not ready and just makes me feel even worse than i already did.
i get it. i am an asshole. You don't need to add to me beating myself up more.

At about 5:30, my dad told me he was gonna head over to granddad's for a while, with much chagrin. Apparently my uncle had called him very stressed that granddad's prostate cancer has come back. So dad needed to go over, comfort granddad, and try to make sense of it. I offered to come along, hoping my presence would be helpful, for dad as much as granddad. Dad agreed, so a while later, off we went. We got there and it turned out to be another false alarm, granddad misunderstood what he was being told again. The paperwork had stated what his original PSA was when he first got the cancer diagnosis, and he'd mistakenly thought it was the result of his recent PSA test, which was actually very low, it shows the cancer hasn't come back. We managed to explain it to him, and he seemed to get that he was ok, but the dementia is clearly getting worse. He just got totally lost mid-sentence a lot, and we went around in several circles helping him understand what was happening.

We spent the entire journey home discussing that this can't go on much longer. He's obviously struggling to manage things on his own, even though he's a proud man who values his independence. It sounds like dad's coming around to my way of thinking more and more. He was making a lot of "you're absolutely right" and "well, exactly that" type comments, and saying i saw already what he's seeing now. It at least seems like my attendance succeeded in its goals. It gave dad an outlet to process, and made it easier for him to deal with, granddad seemed delighted to have both of us pop by to check on him during his cancer scare, and at one point, he mentioned "You look good, Tommy. You seem happy, you don't look depressed any more."

I hope it doesn't sound narcissistic or self-absorbed, but he's been so invested in my life for such a long time, making so many comments about how he just wants me to be happy, that he's so glad when things in my life go well. So i really wanted to make sure that he saw that i finally truly am, while there's still a real possibility he'll remember it. I like the thought that he can at least face the end knowing that his beloved, departed daughter's "son" is finally happy and right with the world. One less thing he has to worry about, yknow?

Had my first cataract surgery today. Most people I have talked said they say immediate improvement. Not me! Vision is blurry and foggy. Notes from clinic say this does happen and can take a few days to clear up. I will have a follow-up exam tomorrow. Sure not gonna have the other eye done unless this clears up. Please pray that it will be better in the morning.
