Star Wars!

I really liked the 3 original movies. I haven't seen the other ones, but it kind of seemed like they were milking the franchise. I'm not sure if other folks have opinions on that.

I think they used to run for like the entire month or something, but that was probably like 5 years or so ago. . ;^)

I don't recall their being any month-long JC's, but I've only been really active on SF for the past for years. Is there a reason why those were discontinued?

On other forums there are chat threads that last a few weeks or months, and then when they get too long, they get scrapped.

The "jump to new" feature of the forum software might prevent page flipping

Kind of think it is more fun having a separate thread everyday

The main idea would be to simplify the tagging process, and to keep the cafe open until a new theme arrived. In principle, there might be other ways to achieve the same result.

Maybe you could cut and paste blocks of tags, but I'm not so sure that wouldn't run into some technical snags.

Maybe there could be a policy of the cafe staying open until a new one is started?

Lol ya I only like the original 3 movies too, the rest aren't very good at all imo (I do like that Mark Hamill is at least in some of the newer ones again). I've seen most of them except Solo. My friend keeps saying I should watch it so then I can say I've seen them all but just don't really care about it lol.

I agree with what you said about the milking thing for sure too. It's too bad because they coulda done some really cool things with the newer ones & made the stories better and everything. My friend has some great ideas of how it all coulda been done a lot better, maybe someone will re-do them or do remakes of the newer ones someday, that'd be great I think

hello all and i think in general it's a good idea and would be ok. but i think it would kill the cafe after a while. i hope it continues daily and more people strive to open the cafe...mike...

Step One: Tag lots of people who might be interested in joining Jim's Cafe

Step Two: Ask anyone who wants to join to click on the "watch" button on the top right of the original post

Step Three: Whenever a new Jim's Cafe is created, the Cafe starter could post a link to the new cafe.

if that would work i think that's an awesome idea so whoever opens the cafe wouldn't have to tag so many people, just some new ones...mike..

Seems a reasonable idea although the watch button isn’t on the app version but not really a massive problem! Works to stop having to tag all the time although it is nice to get tagged. (Equally not so nice to get missed out!) Anyway, seems like a reasonable idea. Thanks for the tag @may71

I guess one work-around would be to post on the thread, which I think automatically adds the thread to your watched list. Maybe there's also another way for phone users to watch threads that someone knows about.

although it is nice to get tagged

the cafe is still open technically until another is open. like this cafe will remain open tomorrow until somebody opens a new one. but once they hang around for a while they get bored with it. that's why we need daily cafes. and i'll admit one of the reasons i don't open the cafe as much is the tagging...mike...
