I'm a pretty big Manchester United fan, mostly because my dad supported them so I got to see them quite frequently growing up.

Now I've moved South, that's sadly not the case, so I've kind of adopted Fulham as my second team. I actually had a youth trial there, and was signed up for the club before my mental health issues prevented me from pursuing it as a career!

My dad was a big Fulham fan. He took me to so many games when I was a kid. It's a great little old stadium ( if you can actually call it that) I love it there. Always reminds me of good times.
It's a shame you didn't get to play for them.

Okay... today's game was a bit of a rough one... not happy to see Spurs lose in the first home match of theirs I ever watched... but at least my friend unexpectedly came to watch this week. He didn't tell me he was going to be there, but I was texting him before it started, and I mentioned something about being at Piper's again, and he told me he was there too. He had come in not long before me, but it was crowded as hell and I'm so short I couldn't see him all the way over where he was. But I found him soon enough and we stood together to watch. It was nice that he was there to answer a few random questions I had, and he let me in front of him because he is taller and I was struggling to see. Plus I felt safer with him behind me rather than a stranger.

It was so much more crowded this week. The game started at 11:00 am instead of 8:30, so it was probably a lot easier for people to get out of bed for. Plus it was Chelsea... I looked it up and can confirm they have a supporters club here and they meet at the same place we do. Saw a lot of the fans there. They seemed nice enough. We are far away enough from the action that people aren't really jerks to each other much. It's not a big enough thing around here for people to get as angry as they do about hockey, it seems. A Chelsea fan sitting in front of me even politely answered a question I had about one of their players. (Was asking my friend, but he didn't hear me so this other dude answered me. Just wanted to know if the goalkeeper was the same one from last year.) I got so anxious about being in the crowd, but I definitely didn't want to leave and everything turned out okay. I wonder if it gets really crazy when Spurs play Arsenal. I know a lot of Spurs fans will want to come out but I just looked it up and the Gooners in Pittsburgh meet at a different bar. (Not sure if they have an actual club right now because it's not listed on the website, but the bar they go to was on a list.)

My friend had an awesome time, and I'm getting there. I'm still too shy to really cheer or yell or chant, plus I don't know most of the chants anyway. I kind of know the chant for Dele Alli that my friend told me about last week but I guess that would only come in handy if he scored. My friend got really into it though, and I hope I can join him in that sometime soon. He says he plans on trying to come back whenever he can, but we might have some conflicts with our rugby games.

Initially I felt bad for the Chelsea guy who scored an own goal, until my friend talked about it. From what he told me, it seems like it is much less of a big deal in football than it is in hockey. I was just thinking about the time one of my favorite Washington Capitals players scored an own goal in a game on national TV against a big rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. I think it was his first or second season in the NHL. Not quite a decade ago. When that happened, everybody made fun of him, and I felt really bad to see that. But my friend told me that even Harry Kane has scored some own goals and it's a lot easier for that to happen in football when all the people are in front of the net. I probably shouldn't have felt bad anyway, even if it was a bigger deal, but I am too soft-hearted for my own good.

This week I didn't drink anything at all. Not even a soda, which was my original plan. It was crowded enough that nobody really noticed who was buying stuff and who wasn't. So I used the tiny amount of money I saved to buy a quesadilla for lunch. Ended up a pretty good day despite the loss.

I watched the whole game live on my laptop and although in theory it was billed as a home game for Spurs, its a temporary home until their new stadium is opened for next season.

To learn some of the chants, just go to You Tube, most of them can be found on there.

Glad you are enjoying the games though.

Not much to say about yesterday's game... I was feeling terrible and too depressed to go watch the game at the pub. But at least I managed to get my jersey on and watch it online. I was really expecting a lot more from Spurs :/ My friend told me Burnley shouldn't be too hard. I was depressed enough that I fell asleep multiple times during the match, but I woke up during the stoppage time right before Burnley scored. I wasn't really expecting a draw. Think that is the first time I've seen a Spurs game end like that. It's not always boring, unlike what a lot of other Americans I've heard from think. One of the games that I found to be the most exciting in the 2014 FIFA World Cup ended up as a 0-0 draw (Brazil vs. Mexico-- loved Ochoa's goalkeeping!) But this was just disappointing.

@baywasp you should have been watching Liverpool's 4-0 demolition of Arsenal. They just blasted them off the pitch with their brand of "heavy metal football."

Classy attacking performance.

Finally made it back out to catch a game... last week I had rugby so we were getting ready for that while Spurs were kicking Everton asses. Also missed their first Champions League game due to being in the hospital :/ Heard that one was good.
I was very disappointed this week... again expected a lot more from Spurs. The Swansea keeper was pretty good, though, and that made it interesting to watch. I saw one Swansea fan in the entire pub, but there were fewer Spurs fans out this week than the last few times I went too. It was a nice enough time, not too early, 12:30 pm, and I had nothing else to do this Saturday. I got there a little after the noon hour and staked my claim to an actual table this time. That was nice. I felt less like I was in the way because my seat (with a tall chair to make up for my rather diminutive height) was against the back wall. For a while, I was concerned that I'd be forced out of my seat because I didn't buy anything, but everything turned out fine. I'll probably buy a beer the next time I come in when I have money so I don't overstay my welcome as a non-paying customer. Haha.

My friend the fellow Spurs fan was not able to attend this week because he went to visit his parents 4 hours away this weekend. But he got to watch the game on TV with them at their house so that's good. I texted him before and after the game, and a little at the half, and he and a lot of others were pretty annoyed at some of the calls from the referee. I'm still learning, so I wasn't sure which ones were good and which ones were bad, but there was one where they seemed to say a Spurs guy fouled the Swansea guy but the Swansea guy looked like he just fell over. (I might still sound funny and use the wrong words in trying to explain some stuff. I don't know.)

Also I'm very soon celebrating my 4th month of being a fan and Monday is 4 months since watching my first Spurs game (on online stream, in Spanish :D ) and making this thread. I might need to see if I can get some kind of just regular Spurs tee shirt to have in addition to my jersey so I can show off my fanhood more... even if they keep disappointing me. Will look at my options and next month I will have money and fewer expenses so I can more likely afford something. IDK.

Always good to have a range of shirts, if you're getting up to a few games you don't want to have to wear the same shirt everytime. From the sounds of it, the Swansea guy that went down was probably taking a dive. I think it's more pronounced in the Europian leagues, but asking a dive to try and get a free kick s pretty common place in the sport, there's quite a few clips of guys being missed by a country mile but going down like they've been hit by a bus.

Missed my Spurs game this week because of being at my rugby teammate's cabin without wifi. Could have used the one guy's mobile hotspot maybe (?), but I was having enjoyable bonding time with my friends. My friend the other Spurs fan wasn't able to be there, but my Everton fan friend was. I think I spent more time with him than anybody else because I'm a little clingy with him sometimes. We didn't talk sports much besides rugby and a little American football, which I don't really understand too well honestly. I think I'll be able to watch next week's Spurs game, or at least part of it, because it is so early in the day. 7:30 am for me. My rugby team is playing our rival that afternoon, but I think their field is nearby and if I go to the pub to watch Spurs I will be closer to where we will be meeting downtown than if I stay home.

(Also random note... I'm bored waiting for the electrician to come to my house. No Premier League games on yet so I just put on a random Bundesliga game... don't think there is a thread to discuss that, but I don't think I would have much to contribute anyway. Just that I am watching Hannover 96 vs FC Cologne, and Cologne has the weirdest third kits. Gray and neon yellow. Guess I'm vaguely cheering for Hannover because their kits are less weird.)
