When you design an aeroplane the important thing is that it flies. The state of being of the designer is not important.
The state of the designer is important; a designer high on PCP is unlikely to create designs that will be able to operate within safety protocols.
Spiritual knowledge is to create a state of being, the knowledge itself is not important.
And how is it that state is achieved? By reading the Bible according to every Christian I've ever heard of; you're to read the Bible and in doing so hear the stories of God to let you see him in ways you cannot by sitting about. You're meant to read of Jesus' life and follow suit. God gave homework and all too many of his supposed followers aren't meeting their deadline!
All knowledge is lost when you leave the physical body.
[citation needed] I'll agree it's reasonable to assume physical death means that the collected knowledge dies, but it's not reasonable to assume that we in any way do survive said death.
So what’s the point of learning a language at age ninety if it just gets lost?
I never instructed anyone to do so, I said that they should have read the bible at least five times over by 90 if they're Christian; they should have read the teachings of God as they'd refer to it, and read it again to gain everything they can.
Furthermore if one can say "Why bother at age 90, you're so near death" why is that any different from saying "Why bother at all, you're so near death compared to the life of the cosmos".
You will take the skill of learning with you.

I’m reminded of the great Bobby Fisher (chess) who left his body recently. Such a remarkable talent who gave so much joy to so many, but left bitter and twisted.
[Context to explain relevance needed]
Now, with no knowledge or understanding of why he is the way he is, he will have to struggle to resolve these issues.
He's dead, and even if I were to grant you the assumption he'd have to work out such things post-mortem I'd say that you didn't know the man's mind and for all you know he was was the most self-aware man on Earth.
Someone who is good at designing aeroplanes doesn’t need to know about the stresses acting on reinforced concrete.
Actually they do pretty much, as it turns out physics is a rather portable thing. To understand the physics related to stress on the hull of a plane and whatnot will very quickly allow you to understand how it would act on concrete in, say, a dam. The basic concepts are all still there, you just need to pick up a few experimentally derived variables such as the difference in stress tolerance between concrete and a plane hull.
That's the thing that's so wonderful about reason; it's portable. I can take the logic of mathematics and apply it directly onto rhetoric and in doing so can find fallacy. I can take the concept of the conservation of mass and energy and, even if I had no prior education on the matter, could quickly understand where all the energy comes from in a fission reactor. In time I can also see how the physics ties into concepts in chemistry or biology. All sorts of things.
If I take the teachings of the bible I can go out and... well... not do so much really. I can't use it to accurately determine the outcome of a scenario nor can I use it to understand other fields or how they interconnect. In theory I can use it to learn the ritual of prayer and petition God for assistance, but that's not shown to be effective... Ah, here we go. I can cure leprosy with it!
Leviticus 14:49-53 said:
And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water:
And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:
And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet:
But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.
Ah, nevermind. I can only cure my house of leprosy, my bad...
