Greer..I gave in yesterday after over three bloody weeks :(
I bummed one off of a friend so at least I don't feel like I've got to finish a whole pack. I didn't even particularly enjoy it, felt too guilty.

Oh well, new day, new start.
if you bummed only one cig you are still at 3 weeks it's normal to do that while quitting. try to avoid the temptation in the future but don't knock yourself over a little slip i'd say if it's no more than 1 a week it's still a quit. i'm waiting for you to say it's week four you are doing a great job please keep it up

Hey, I only read the first couple of posts so I'm not sure how or what everyone is doing, but I tried to quit smoking for years. I did it cold turkey. I did it using patches. I even did it by taking small tokes of pot in place of a cigarette (yay Colorado!). I would succeed and then something would trigger me, usually a high stress event, and I would fall off the wagon.
In February, I quit for what I hope is forever. I did it by vaping, not an e-cigarette but an actual vaping device with e-juice that had some light nicotine in it. Then I gradually moved to no nicotine. I think it worked because it felt so much like smoking and the "smoke" was much more satisfying than wimpy e-cigarette. I also enjoyed the delicious flavors much more than the taste of smoke.
I don't use the vape device much anymore and I don't want to smoke another cigarette ever. All the flack and criticism that vaping and e-cigarettes have received over the years is quite unfair, because without these options, I may not have quit. So I am grateful for them.
I hope my story helps someone.

Im losing track now. I think Im on 4 weeks. I sure am still thinking about it a lot for a month in lol

Could've really smoked today. Being a stupid fucking whiner today & stressed myself out over nothing at all. (Just mind fucking myself)
I asked my daughter for a cig quietly when she visited but she told my wife on me, did I catch hell. 4 weeks is a great feat try not to falter now you'll just have to suffer all over again. i'm sure you're starting to feel a little better by now please keep up the good work even though it's difficult and you are an example to others

How are you all doing?

Apart from the one ciggie a couple of weeks ago (which I'm choosing to ignore!) I'm five weeks in. Haven't used any nicotine lozenges this week.
Feeling pretty darn good about it :)
Amazing, good job! The old lungs must be feeling better by now.

I slipped up and was smoking for a while again. I suck. But I haven't had one in 4 days as of today. Went for a little run this morning and was a bit easier. I really want my cardio back

That's great! I still can't run after 5 weeks - but to be fair I couldn't run before I started smoking :p

an occasional slip doesn't count. you being 5 weeks in is amazing i'm sure you are noticing a difference in your breathing already. it just gets easier as you go along now. you will still have the occasional I wish I had a cigarette moment it will pass. at 5 weeks you have quit so keep it up and remember you can win this war.

I made it 12 days and then had to hit restart, once again! Currently on day 4 and getting really pissed off with myself so I am using that to fuel me.

I feel like going around and posting a sign of myself where I would buy cigarettes stating" "DO NOT SELL cigarettes to this woman" lol !

it sucks trying to quit. it's ok to falter as long as you don't fail by not trying anymore. day 4 is pretty awesome please keep at it until you make it i'm proud of you

There was a man on the TV this week who was trying to lose over half his weight. He did just that - went to all the takeaway places, shops and cafes where he bought all his junk food and gave them his photo, telling them to throw him out :D

His first week he lost 13lbs

You'll get there. Just keep doing your best and that is always good enough.

Hey guys, so I thought I'd plant us a thread here to whine and complain in peace about quitting smoking - thinking of quitting - encouraging each other - screaming and acting like a jerk so your family doesn't have to hear it - helpful tips for each other, etc. Whatever you've got, really. Just a gathering spot.

Let's see how it goes, eh?
I want to quit therapy, enough said
