I finished off the end of the pack I was on over the course of a week & that ended last sunday putting me on day 7 today. So - still shoveling along little by little. I had a mini melt down last night & if I'd had any more "oomph" I'd have gone to buy a pack. I held up and honestly it passed quicker than I imagined.
it is very hard to quit i'm proud of you keep up the good work i'm keep trying you're over the hardest part

Six months huh? I have a really good motivation to be honest. I have felt like smoking is completely pointless for a while but was mostly sticking with it because it was the basis for a lot of social crap. Now that social aspect is gone and at the same time replaced by a motivator to knock it off. (So vague, I know) Six months is both a long time and a short one. Still poking along... let's see what happens.

@Lulabelle What's up with you? You had a really really really stressful day yesterday (was that yesterday?) but you were on the exact same time as me. You still ok?
It seems like yesterday's stress is continuing today and by the looks of it is going to get even worse by the end of the week. The temptation to go and buy a pack... There was some bloke smoking this morning while I was walking the pooch and I SO nearly asked if I could bum one off of him - thank fuck for social anxiety ;)

What the hell do normal people do when they're stressed if they don't reach for the cigs????

I've found that I need to divert my attention from that initial time when I'm looking for one @Lulabelle When that 20 minutes passes I'm typically okay and it doesn't just hang around... til next time.
Why are you stressed *now* about yesterday? Seems this should be a good time.

This is exactly my question! When things really go to shit what do non smokers do? I went for a whole year including a broken back and then caved Sept 12 the day I picked up Pushkin's ashes. I've tried several times since to stop but I am failing. I just went and bought a carton. Sigh. I did just look over Ash's guidelines and I see I didnt do my homework. Its so much harder this time. Wah. Any advice?

I've been reaching for the chocolate and biscuits instead. I'm already the size of a house, by Christmas I shall resemble an apartment block o_O

first you are not failing you're faltering pick another quit date and on that date throw out any cigs lighters ashtrays etc. and use nicotine aids as long as you need to that will help but nothing will replace the will to quit if you don't make it try again and again it doesn't matter how many tries it takes remember it gets easier the longer you quit good luck i'm rooting for you

@Lulabelle Maybe you can reach for something else besides chocolate and biscuits - like IDK - whatever else you people eat there... fruit or something. I would do strawberries or pretzels myself but I sense that's not going to cut it for you. But maybe you can lighten the load with something that's not quite as poor a choice. Ultimately, you can quit smoking then drop the weight back off. It's all a trade off, right?

I just passed three weeks on this thing... a little with ecig, a little without... it's going. I'm good on it. Def not segued completely off the ecig yet but working my way there. I've got time. I feel like rushing it is potentially the way to shit bomb the progress.
