I can so relate
@TreeShade17 as I posted here several times that I was going to quit. Managed to do once but then something stressful ... so didn't stick...think it's taken me at least 5 times to quit.
.For me I am 100 days+ (yes still counting and would be lying if said still don't miss it). I was at a pack to pack and a half a day.I can't tell you why worked this time--not sure if this is helpful or not but for me this is what I did--
1. Picked a date of significance (husband's b-day - I didn't tell him for a week or so (in case relapsed)
2. Had lower stress level as was off work for mental health,
3. Got patches (again) and a med from doctor
4. Called a quit smoking org. and they called me every week to see how I was doing
5. Smoked last pack without pressure
6. Put this empty pack on my desk where see it every day - Put date quit and hash marks for every day am a non-smoker. Then in head multiply by $10 as that was $ was saving.
7. Instead of smoking did adult coloring books and changed routines
8. Wore patches every single day. I tricked my brain into thinking that if I had a cigarette while wearing patch was very very bad.
9. Now don't put patch on everyday (just forget). But if feel stress coming on still will put on patch.
Be gentle on yourself as this is truly amongst the hardest things to do. You may also want to try reading Allen Carr's book - Easy Way to Stop Smoking. I read it last time quit and did internalize it realized for this time.
