I finally submitted an application to volunteer at an equine therapy center! I had been kicking this around since November 2025. I found one place that is only 20 minutes away from me; the others were over 90 minutes on the road (one way). Now that I've sent in my app, I'm wondering if I will really do well or not. I guess there's only one way to find out, though. If they don't like me or I don't take to it as well as I anticipate, then I can quit and at least I will have what I have learned from that experience. :)

I went outside and walked somewhere voluntarily today.
@AvidFan - I'm closer to 2K than 10k, but I'll get there someday.
I had a sudden, but very intense, craving for an orange soda, specifically Orange Crush. 7-11 is one block away meaning it would actually be more trouble to get in my car, drive 1000 feet, park there, and then repeat for the way back than it would be to just hoof it. It's a bright sunny day that is warm, but not oppressive. Turned out to be windy out, which blunted some of the glare from my solar nemesis (I am, technically, a vampire. Not in terms of diet, but I am so white that I burn in minutes by just standing near a sunny windowsill). Grabbed a small cap to cover my bald spot (aka, my head, lol), shades, and set out on my mission.

No Orange Crush at 7-11. Not even Sunkist! No orange anything on the soda fountain (first world problems, i know). They have 4 colors of Fanta but the craving was specifically for something that is NOT Fanta. Closest match is Jarritos, which is familiar to me based on my geographical situation. It's very popular in Mexico, and where I have lived my entire life was at one point, Mexico, so it's purely a historical accident that I am American, if I look at it that way. Jarritos it is! I also grabbed a coca-cola slurpee because I keep forgetting that those make my stomach hurt. It was about the same amount for the 32 fl oz. (~ 1L) Slurpee vs the 11 oz Jarritos, so what the hey.

I did 45 minutes of house chores which is 15 minutes on top of my minimum self-contracted half hour. Cleaned the draining board and cooker surfaces, counter tops, emptied trash and recyling, hoovered. Also cleaned the front windowsill of ant frass and dead ants/bait blobs so I can reassess the situation with a clean slate. I need to get the cracks between sill and wall repaired/sealed in due course but that's a job for another day - and one I will pay someone with the skills to do it!

Been a busy day. I went for a 3.5 mile run, and when I got back I sprayed the patio/walls with weedkiller everywhere any weeds are beginning to take hold (saves pulling them out when they have turned into trees, which was my fatal and expensive mistake in years gone by!). Also discovered the kitchen drain was spilling over onto the patio a bit, as some sludge had accumulated over winter. Cleared that out and now the drain works properly without water going all over the place. Made a note of the garden gate hanging off - only so much you can do in one day!
