I first heard this song when watching the movie the Man from U.N.C.L.E. I didn't understand the words but damn if it wasn't one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Glad you liked it as well :)
I'm still listening to it. this man's version takes my breath:)

Getting back on the wagon tomorrow. I have lost 14lbs (i would say in the space of 2 months, pure guess) but its weird I didn't really intentionally lose it. I must have been eating better than I thought I was. We shall see....

How is everyone else getting on?

Hey! Hope I'm okay to join ^.^ have started really keeping on top of my health, and have managed to shift 9lbs so far (been about 5 weeks), but I've slacked a bit over the past week so thought I'd commit myself a bit more on here and get myself motivated :)

Sending hugs!

Can I join too? I have to get my cholesterol and my blood sugar down and get the stress under control. I got a wake up call at the doctors a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been doing more exercise every day, cut all all the gluten free crap I was eating and try to eat more fresh foods instead of snacks. People say I don't need to lose weight but I'm very short and any weight I have goes around my waist and feels very uncomfortable. I've been a good few pounds over my ideal weight and struggling with it for a couple of years but the combination of diet and exercise has taken off about 5 lbs which feels good but I really want to feel healthy and get some more muscle tone. I have loads of intolerances and an aspirin allergy so my diet is really limited - hence giving up and just eating snacks. Now I plan my meals ahead so I don't go back to old habits. The only problem is, like yesterday, when I write about how good things are going I immediately sabotage myself. I don't know why but I recognise it's a thing with me. I'm tempting fate writing about it now but I really need to keep going and get my body working and my health back on track.

Has anyone else got pre diabetes? It really scared me to hear that but I was looking at info today and it sounds like blood tests are not a very accurate way of checking it. I found a YouTuber called Goji Man who has a lot of info that made sense of how my intolerances developed but he's big on explanation and not so much on what to do about it. I have no idea how to get my blood sugar down long term apart from cutting out snacks and hoping for the best.

Sorry for the long post, I'll keep it shorter next time!

After much debate and looking at the Calendar I have decided I don't care again until next year (such a bad attitude). I mean I'll eat semi healthy, because I feel better when I do. I'm also going to eat the free pecan pie they gave me with my grocery order today ... yep. Mentally I'm so back and forth here. ugh.

Here's my situation:( My dietary changes that I have to put in place have to do with kidney stones. I will do my best to never again go through the pain of last February/March and the procedures and down time if I can help it. And since I am now considered at risk.....kidney focused diet is pretty much a no-brainer for prevention..the docs don't tell you this, I have found out through my own research and connecting with groups and so this is why I'm just now finally putting it all together. Healthy choices I've used for years are off the table. Nuts, spinach, potatoes, certain kinds of beans, and more. Sigh. :)
oh, and to improve my core strength, it stinks. Sit ups are going to become my thing.

I wish you the best of luck in your new eating/exercise lifestyle. You can't buy your health so mind it as much as possible. You will get a lot of support here, i'm sorry to hear what you went through earlier in the year, its sounds very painful *hug
Start afresh now and I think it would be a good idea to tell the doctor that you have done your research and discuss whatever topics of it you want to. Work with them. Good luck with the dietary changes. :)

For the #4535 I am getting back on the wagon today. I am not waiting until the new year because I feel like I am making excuses to draw it out longer and longer if I do and I will still eat delicious food at Christmas just using smaller portions and common sense. The right time is now.

@Walker How is your progress at the moment? I wanted to ask you that yesterday but I had forgotten to.

Of course you can join but there is a fee of 10 quid, juuuust kidding :P

So sorry to hear that you had a ''wake up call'' at the doctors, are they going to refer you to a nutritionist? I think that would be a good idea seeing as your cholesterol and your pre diabetic diagnosis is coupled with lots of intolerance's, it might be too much for someone unqualified in your health history - i guess your nurse could help there too.

Do you exercise at all regularly, if you want to get toned maybe join a gym and pay the extra bit for a few personal training sessions to help you get started and fight this head on, sometimes they do bundle deals especially in the new year. The new year is when all the offers are on so its best to join in the new year, in my humble opinion.

We are here to help you cope with all of this and to take the pressure off a little. Welcome to the healthy lifestyle thread :)

@Livelife I've had kidney stones for a very long time also. Surgery for them, all sorts of shit. If you care to hear what I've done to eliminate those let me know. (If you're doing great then awesome! Don't feel compelled only because of the offer)

I'm doing so-so @Petal We had Thanksgiving here and my birthday. I tried to get back on track a bit but I lose by doing low carb mostly and cutting carbs seemed pointless when I was going to see Lu in 3 weeks. (Justifications anyone?) So I just tried to mostly stay steady until I leave (only a couple days now!!)
Then I'll go there and we'll both gain a stone because it'll be Christmas and New year's and we're already prone to packing on bunch when we're together. It's terrible.
That'll leave both of us scrambling to catch up for the following two weeks... So much work!

It sounds like you are having a super great time at the moment with birthday, thanksgiving, travelling and spending Christmas with your lovely fiance, so do whatever is best for you diet-wise and we will all put a little weight on the week from xmas- new year. Merry Christmas matt :) And we shall get into the real hard work in Jan ...oooh i can see the spring already :D

@Walker. I'm sorry to hear of anyone having to deal with these. This was a surprise last February. There's a deep one remaining after the lithotripsy/stents that couldn't be accessed. I hope I can dissolve it somehow and prevention is the goal. I would love to have your input whenever you have the time. Thank you so much.
