Of course you can join but there is a fee of 10 quid, juuuust kidding :P

So sorry to hear that you had a ''wake up call'' at the doctors, are they going to refer you to a nutritionist? I think that would be a good idea seeing as your cholesterol and your pre diabetic diagnosis is coupled with lots of intolerance's, it might be too much for someone unqualified in your health history - i guess your nurse could help there too.

Do you exercise at all regularly, if you want to get toned maybe join a gym and pay the extra bit for a few personal training sessions to help you get started and fight this head on, sometimes they do bundle deals especially in the new year. The new year is when all the offers are on so its best to join in the new year, in my humble opinion.

We are here to help you cope with all of this and to take the pressure off a little. Welcome to the healthy lifestyle thread :)
Thanks @Petal! :) I've had intolerances for ages now and seen a few people and had a few tests. The last nutritionist I saw was ok but then it kind of ended when she advised on supplements and left it at that. Since then I developed an aspirin and an apple allergy - they just keep on growing!

I'm doing ok, I'm used to it. I just get fed up trying to come up with interesting meals on the limited list of foods.

I do have a stationary bike and some gym equipment at home that I use but I'm very sporadic. I'm intending to use it most if not every day now and I've kept it up so far. I used to go to a gym when I was living in another country and close to town and I surprised myself by actually enjoying it. I'm happy to work out at home now. I think the drive to my gym from here would put me off and I'd make excuses. I drop my son to work really early in the morning and then I get on the bike and that works ok. I'll mix it up as I get my fitness levels up.

It's great to have somewhere to talk about it!

Clearly it is ALL OVER for Christmas at this point. We had the work pot luck thing yesterday. We have the work xmas party on Friday. The monkey flies in on Saturday. I did my online Christmas shop yesterday and I think there were probably about 117,000 calories in that shopping basket (to get us through 6 days...) and that is not counting the 412,000 calories already in the cupboards...

Yeah. So. January 5th lol

Im in agreement with waiting until 2020 to start eating better. Too many homemade cookies for me to resist and free food.

Egg nog. Cant turn those things down either. Even got silk eggnog yesterday at the food store to taste test if its still as good as the real thing.

Holiday baking championships on food network tv, cant stop watching different bakers with different ideas etc. Too cool.

Its not so bad. It does not have the same thickness texture of the real thing. Its like drinking flavored water.
