i thought that stuff weas like paracetomol, in that it didnt kill you any time shortly, but over a long period of time due to liver damage. But I have no real idea what they will actually do, and have no idea how many youve taken nor what damage the amount you have taken will do. Play it safe, call an ambulance now and get seen to asap, very few people want to die slowly over the course of several months.

I love your idea of an emergency box. When I'm feeling suicidal, I flip through my journal. I mostly have drawings that reflect how I'm feeling in there. I look back through my distressed scribblings and think, in a weird sort of third-person way, 'These are really good. Wouldn't it be a shame if the artist died young?' And then I immagine emergency personel or police psychologists looking carefully through my journal after my death to try to guess my state of mind, and going, 'Man, these are fabulous! This lady had so much to give to the world, what talent!' and lamenting that the world will never know me. :D Vanity helps! It would be good to put something in an emergengy box to remind you of things you're proud of doing.

No Salvation, please say you're okay!!

let's see...

chocolate
pics of all my friends from JSA Northwestern Summer School
Phone numbers for all ConLaw kids
A printout of my 'language slips' collection (a list of all the freuidian slips and language mishaps i've heard, typed or read)
Shadow (my first stuffed animal, yes I still have it)
Rubber bands/a razor (not sure if the blood or the pain is necessary)
a small, sharp knife (I can hold it, stare at it, and realize that I have to come here, and talk to y'all to make me feel better.)
my...well, the family, but I'm the only one who uses it, and it's in my room...laptop.
my guitar (it'll be in it's backpack case behind the box)
a recorder
a map with all the locations of churchs nearby (I don't know why, but crying in chapels sometimes helps me, especially if I can come here during or after)
BIG BIG HUGS!!! (Jodi)
printouts of some my favorite posts and pms just in case I can't find a wireless network
My travel CDs, player, and lots of extra batteries.
A map with all the locations of nearby gyms that may have punching bags
Money (both bills, and some quarters for bus money)
My japanese language kit (just in case I need an educational distraction)
The Redemption of Althalus (good book)
Most of my Anne McCafferey collection (good books to escape this world with for a while)
The numbers for hotlines I can call
A paper that says "you know you suck at figuring out where you are streetnamewise, go hang out by a landline" (if you call 911 on a cell where I am you get patched through to the state highway patrol, and they can't track you)

I think that's enough for now, maybee too much.

Hi,

I saw somewhere that it is a good idea to have an ‘emergency box’. Like somewhere where you can put things that will help you when/if you’re feeling really suicidal and/or low. I.e. put something together now in a box and if things get too much for you take a look in the box .. make sense?

So the next thing would be to find things and put them in your box. I am going to make one and so far have the following things :

  • A birthday card from work because it shows me just how much people care for me
  • A CD I made with music that cheers me up when I’m feeling blue
  • Photo of my cat – she gives me a reason to hang on
  • A little book of hugs that was gifted to me recently
  • £5 note so I can go out and buy something nice for myself
  • A printout of this post so that I’m reminded of this wonderful forum
What would you put in your emergency box!?
In my emergency box I would probably put a few crates of Newcastle Brown Ale to toast the good health of everyone involved in this cyber community.
CHEERS

P.S. You havent got any spare fivers have you ? Have a brilliant day.

A box of really nice, fancy, candies, some cash, condoms (maybe a sex toy of some sort), a fattie, a box of macaroni and cheese, some chips, crackers, a camera, and a loaded gun. Hasta la vista, baby!

Thankyou!

Any box worth its salt would need one of those! And a lighter!

While I'm at it... a book that I haven't read but looks good.

Photos of my kids. And something that each of them made me.

Cheesecake. It will have to be a refrigerated box. Maybe I should just keep it in the 'fridge. Maybe a note reminding me that I have hidden a piece of cheesecake in the back of the freezer would do, actually!

Sticky tape and a pen. Not because they make me feel better...just so I have a stash that no-one has wandered off with.

Some music. In original covers so I can check the credits and artwork out. Metallica, Jeff Buckley, You Am I, Angels, Nick Cave should cover most moods. Good thing cd's are small these days, just a shame the artwork is so small now.

Some cigarettes. I'm sick of giving up smoking.

I had thought about what to put together into a crises box, but I'd have no where to store it so I'll just have to write a list. :(

paints/pastels and paper (good for getting your feelings down on paper, drawing and painting is good for expressing yourself)
chocolate,
Lord of the Rings book/DVD
Music CDs
Journal
Pens
some of my Mathmos lights, the ones called Aduki are curiously egg shaped and change colours, very soothing
List of phone numbers/people to talk to when I am suicidal (good to have emergency numbers to hand)

hmm thats a good idea, I'll have to think about it, I think maybe I'd want 2 boxes tho, one with things in in that made me happy, and another with assorted methods of offing or hurting myself in it. then when i feel shit and go look at the shelf I'll have to choose which I want. - I'm the kinda guy that would always get the happy box first just cos I'd know there was chocolate in it.

Heh maybe I should just go buy like a whole years worth of advent calendars :)

i like the idea of an emergency box, it would be the perfect thing for anyone in a bad mood. although mine would be a very very heavy, very very big box! here's my list:

my piano (see, i said it would be big and heavy)!
every single song that i've ever liked
my journal
photos of my friends and family
money to buy maccas
all the phone numbers of my friends
a phone to call my friends on
and last but not least, all of my tamora pierce books

*edit*
lol, reading what i just wrote, that would be one heck of a big box! XD
