It's gone cold again here but didn't really feel it - It's 1C but watch says "feels like -2" with the wind chill. I managed to get out for a little 5 mile run. On Friday I struggled walking from the office to the bus stop, so being able to jog 5 miles even at an easy pace shows how much of a difference the chemically-assisted sleep I've had the last couple of nights has helped. Of course I'm hoping I can start moving back to natural sleep but any port in a storm, and if I can at least function and keep up my exercise, it will all hopefully help as I move forward with my recovery. Felt OK on the run, clear headed and heart rate was within normal parameters. Just waiting to see how my energy levels hold up. I've got chances to get out for more little runs this week, I've missed getting out there with all this crap I've been going through with the insomnia and exhaustion.

I was tired mentally today but I forced myself out to my little running group. I gave myself a free pass to stop and go home if I needed to. So I ran to the meeting point and there was nobody there so I thought it had been cancelled again, but then someone came out of the pub and I started chatting. We did a relatively light 3 miles, I was in the middle of the group but when we did a hill I ended up overtaking everyone, as that's just what my body does when it experiences a hill! Heart rate slammed up to 170+ but then came down quickly again so it seems there's nothing wrong with my heart at the moment. Took it a bit easier on the run back to base, and then did my usual jog home, so I did about 4.5 miles altogether. Now I need to see how it effects my energy now I've been sleeping, as when I was running on empty (literally), I'd feel crushing fatigue after exertion. But I remember walking 40 minutes in the thick of things and nearly collapsing, and so far feel OK, so I am hopefully stabilising and getting better and if I can hold it together for the rest of the evening without flatlining, it will be a hopeful sign.

Northerly and very cold wind blowing here, so I almost didn't go on the little run I'd scheduled for today. There was no warmth to the sunshine. I guess it was a lot like my mood as I went out the door. Anyway I managed my assigned 4k. My watch said that the usual steady pace I go has gotten a tad faster over the last few runs; but I haven't actually been trying to go faster.

Got out for a 4 miles little run. First time I've been able to do a run with only a day in between since the last one. The weather said it was a moderate breeze but it was blowing bins over out there and I got anxious about my roof so it kind of spoiled the run a bit, but everything seemed OK and I felt physically OK on the run, though a little worse energy wise by the time I finished, but that could just be a natural energy dip, I will eat some toast to replenish my energy.

My today was supposed to be other exercises, but I felt like running instead. 5k this afternoon. I'm tired of watching out for vehicles, and I really miss running on the footpath at the ocean. :(🌊
But that's whinging, I'm proud of myself for getting out on a winter day :)

Proud of you too @seabird I have literally rolled over car bonnets before now, playing chicken when crossing roads - are they letting me over, yes, speed up, oh no, actually they're not, they were looking at their phone, oops just bumped into them as they are now in front of me. Fortunately not happened yet that they've bumped into me!

geez @AvidFan that's terrible. I hope you have a vehicle-free area to run now. Be careful okay.

I'm particularly sensitive and have more than a litle fury and utter disdain for people who use their phones while driving. My daughter was nearly killed by someone doing that, and it took her 5 years to finally, completely heal.

Went to the little Friday running group and blasted my way around. Did about 1.2 miles there and back, and 3 miles on the actual run, if I'd run 5k it would have been my first sub 30 5k in a long time, I did each mile in under 10 minutes despite there being some tasty hills as well. Felt exhilarated.

Well done @AvidFan 😁.

I dream of doing a sub-30 5k. It's sadly funny my watch says I can do one, but I certainly have no idea where it gets that idea lol.

I did not feel like going today. but I realsed depression has been creeping over me lately, so I forced myself out the door and managed a tiny run 2.5 miles.

Just a small weight workout today. I have an event coming up in just a couple of months; it's time to get back to longer runs again. They're forecasting rain and snow for the next few days. 🫀

A few miles run late this afternoon. I forced myself to go very slow - 12 min/mile pace, and just let my legs do the work, let my brain go along for the ride. I'm so grateful for running.

It was uncomfortably cold out on the street with the wind blowing, and next week it's supposed to get really cold. Sigh.

Cold here too @seabird I hope to go to running group tonight, but on top of everything else I've been having this awful back pain starting earlier this week. Started out of nowhere with a sudden shooting agony while not doing anything that might cause back pain, then went away, but keep getting it in various positions albeit not as intense. It was fine when I ran for the bus yesterday, so it might just be a stress/nerve thing as bending down is OK. I'll see how I to today and make the call later.

Friday night running group - jog there, nice run around with the friendly folks, then ran home. Decided to unleash my engine on the way back, and hit 7.30 minute mile pace, and ended up with 8.33 mile pace overall for the run home. Haven't hit that kind of pace in quite some time, at least in a sustained patch. Felt exhilarating and all my problems disappeared for a bit! Clocked about 4.5 miles altogether.
