Walked half an hour home from the train station Wednesday. Woke up with a calf niggle on Monday that got worse on Tuesday, is now better but a bit weird, as I felt nothing during my run on Sunday, it was mild on Monday, pretty bad Tuesday and is now very mild and only present when I stand up, and goes away with movement. My walk didn't make it any worse, don't feel it walking, so is likely DOMS from the hilly long run, bit weird it's only in one calf, and actually on my good leg (other one has had a couple of bad calf strains, this one never has). I've had a lot worse but now in two minds whether to go on my group Christmas fancy dress run tomorrow 😟

Went to my fancy dress running thing after all, took it easy on the run there, set off really slow, and eventually did a 12 minute mile, an 11 minute mile, and a 10 minute mile, then jogged home. Didn't feel any discomfort at all in the calf, so will see how it fares after sitting still for a while as that's usually when I feel it (it goes away with movement, which is why I think it's DOMS and not an injury). This run was great fun, I wore my santa hat and so did a few other people, though there weren't many there and no elaborate fancy dress! We did stop at a few of the runners' houses and sing Christmas carols which was jolly good fun and there was one kid who was like WTF is going on?! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Maybe next year I'll get a full Santa outfit 🀣🀣🀣

I broke some records today. Day before yesterday I was bored, so I decided to see how much weight I can put in a backpack and do push ups. I started with 5kgs and I honestly thought I wasn't going to even do 5 but I did. I went up to 10kgs and tried and also got a few reps. Then just because I'm an idiot I put 15kgs in the bag and managed to 2 reps. It was as heavy as hell, but I did 2. I really really wanted to try for 3, but I was exhausted. And that night I felt really sick and yesterday I had problems with my leg. So I could only try again today. I thought at 15kgs extra weight I would do 3 push ups that was the goal 5 if I was lucky... And well long story short I actually got 9 in a row. I didn't even think 5 was possible with 5 kgs. This is 3 times the weight and double the amount of reps. I've honestly shocked myself. And then earlier today I finally got my first proper floor L sit too. Years and years of practicing calisthenics and I'm finally unlocking cool things 😁. And my body is so dead lol

5 miles in 2 runs. First was a progression run, 11 minute mile, 10 minute mile, 9 minute mile, followed by a cool down with a hill sprint. Got a number of hill segment PRs and even a top 10 overall placing on one segment, still life in these legs yet! πŸ˜‚ Felt much better than when I was sofa bound scoffing chocs and mince pies, this should be a lesson to me, though am going to scoff more treats because... Christmas! 🀣🀣🀣

Foggy little run with running group. Had sharp pain in hip the other day, niggle in knee walking to the shops, my hope was it was all due to inactivity so took it easy, still felt a bit niggly but will see what happens.

Surprisingly mild weather this morning for a new thing for me, a run with a group. They seem a nice bunch and I'm hoping this turns into something steady. I only did like 2.5 miles but today's a cross-training day anyway so it's fine.

Glad you got to run with other people. When I first went I wasn't sure about it, but it seems to have become a regular thing for me now. Have stuck with it over the holidays as I don't know how much work will take over come January. But I feel I've kind of got my foot in now, so even if I miss a few, it's already a habit. Hope you enjoyed it, runners always seem to be a nice bunch when they get together, very supportive πŸ˜€

Yes I did enjoy it ☺️. Plus it's on a wooded, pretty trail next to a creek through Portland. I agree with you as I've found that runners are down to earth and nice; especially those who run outdoors on streets or trails.

That's good you've established irl connections, and are having fun socially as well as the usual fun of running. πŸ˜› πŸ€—
