I always have to be the odd one out. I had planned to get up and post here during another night of tortured insomnia but I slept like the half-dead. Was so messed up yesterday I can't remember what time exactly I went to bed (my watch says 1am but that's wrong as I last posted here about 10pm then went to bed shortly after). I don't remember lying awake too long, I did wake at 5am but kind of dozed off a little longer until I eventually got up after 8. Definitely had dreams, so went into Rem sleep, and my heart rate went through several troughs under 60. So I think I got 6-7 hours. I'd normally sleep about 12 hours after a several day long bout of insomnia but this isn't normal times, so I'll take anything I can get. Hoping this disproves the "I will never sleep again" chatter in my mind and is the start of some improvement as sleep is so essential to any kind of recovery - mental, physical, or emotional, and I've been/am on a rollercoaster.

Sure I'll be back posting insomniac ramblings in due course - maybe this club helped, as instead of "trying to get some sleep" I was thinking ahead to posting here, maybe it distracted me enough to help me nod off!

Insomnia is a real bitch. I've tried seroquel, trazodone, remeron - nada. Been on sedatives but some like xanax, actually disrupt my sleep, while valium and klonopin have been hit and miss. Opiates are the same way. So who knows when I'll actually crash for a good night (or early morning) sleep.

I've taken every sleep aid available by prescription (seriously, I have).

I gave up. Resigned to bad sleep forever, then my GP said, "try melatonin". So I got some and it really does help a bit. I'm using the Natrol brand gummies (purple packaging) at 20 mg. Its not a wonder, but it does help.

Ha! Good to know, I'll try that one as any other melatonin I've used (up to 10 mg) didn't do anything. Thank you Angie ma!

Hello all hope it's ok if join in...sleep has always been hit or miss for me, when I was younger I'd have night terrors, and would refuse sleep for as long as possible. I feel very talkative and full of energy that is wasted as everybody else is asleep and I don't want to do chores. Or exercise.
It's 4:30am and I woke up around 1.30 due to hunger and an over active brain. Went to bed at 9pm so I guess.
Laid in bed for a while hoping to go back to sleep, no such luck got up, made coffee, will shower and get ready for the day soon.
For some reason I get the less likely side effects of medicines and have had some scary nights with sleep aids and visual hallucinations.
This was discovered when I called the police on a blanket that began to move on its own.
Followed by a series of experimenting with "new and approved" before we all called it a day. I hate the hallucinations and the sleep eating was horrific. So now I just deal with not always sleeping well. It's fine.
Sorry for the chatter, hope everybody was able to get a little rest!

Glad to have you here, but sorry you suffer also.

And yikes "a blanket that began to move on its own" would have scared the crap out of me!

Struggled to get off for a good few hours, woke at 5am, managed to drift into some dreams almost by forcing myself to stay in bed and then got up at a reasonable hour. Not sure it was refreshing, restorative sleep, but it was something.
Sometimes we just do have to "take what we can get" in the sleep department.

I hope your day pans out well *hug
