I worked 1-11 PM then went home and crashed within an hour or so. Then I woke up. I've been up for hours and I don't know why. It's 6:15 AM and I have to go back to work at 1 PM again. Was feeling depressed and trying to not let myself wallow in it so I'm thinking about planning on what tattoo I want to get next. Been listening to some music I really like.

I'm back home now, trying to trust the new info and meds I was told to start. I have lots of research to do since this is a newly approved med and I'm not familiar with it personally or as a nurse. Thank you so much*hug
I'm sorry it maybe wasn't good news, it sounds like it might have been quite devastating and frightening. I hope the medicine helps you. Listening if you want to talk more.

Am awake at a reasonable time today. I did go to bed pretty early and woke at 4.30am, but again forced myself to stay in bed. Heart rate was smooth from bedtime until 4.30am but after that it was a bit all over the place, up and down. This is already more sleep than I got last week put together so things are crawling in the right direction.

Hello all hope it's ok if join in...sleep has always been hit or miss for me, when I was younger I'd have night terrors, and would refuse sleep for as long as possible. I feel very talkative and full of energy that is wasted as everybody else is asleep and I don't want to do chores. Or exercise.
It's 4:30am and I woke up around 1.30 due to hunger and an over active brain. Went to bed at 9pm so I guess.
Laid in bed for a while hoping to go back to sleep, no such luck got up, made coffee, will shower and get ready for the day soon.
For some reason I get the less likely side effects of medicines and have had some scary nights with sleep aids and visual hallucinations.
This was discovered when I called the police on a blanket that began to move on its own.
Followed by a series of experimenting with "new and approved" before we all called it a day. I hate the hallucinations and the sleep eating was horrific. So now I just deal with not always sleeping well. It's fine.
Sorry for the chatter, hope everybody was able to get a little rest!
Yikes. Wonder what the police told you on that one? I've seen stuff move on its own too and I have schizoaffective disorder.

Woke up at 4 am because I went to bed around 3 in the afternoon yesterday. If only I could have slept at least until 6 that would be great, but 13 hours is long enough I suppose. Yesterday I just felt bored and there was nothing to do so I was like you know what, I'm going to bed. Watch, when I finally start working tomorrow I'll want to go home and tell myself that I'd rather be bored again at home.

I woke at 4 also. I guess I should be grateful for the 5 hours I did sleep, but I think as I'm getting older, I need more than I'm getting

peace
:)
I definitely need more than I'm getting. Somewhere I once read that there are two types of insomniacs - those who can remain somewhat functional without sleep and those who can't. I've somehow always found myself in the former category. I've had people tell me if they get 6 hours instead of 8 they turn into a complete wreck, can't function, call in sick, and panic. At points in my life, such as recently, I've had to somehow remain functional - barely - on pretty much zero sleep. If I couldn't do that I don't know what would happen, things would unravel pretty quickly. As it is not sure what damage the insomnia is causing - it's supposed to cause obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure among other things, but currently I don't have any of those things. I've often wondered if I'm one of those people with phantom insomnia (sleep misperception syndrome, ie you sleep but don't realise it) but the trail of wreckage from nights of insomnia around the house suggests I really do not sleep at all some nights. So getting even 3 hours sometimes feels like a blessing.

I hope you can get more of the sleep you need!

Woke at 3.30am. Resisted urge to get up/post/etc, forced myself to stay in bed. Had intermittent weird dreams and got up 8.30am, but don't feel well rested, was awake for most of it. Similar heart rate pattern to previous night - smooth low line during the sleep phase up to wake up, but then quite erratic after that - probably in and out of REM but nothing deep.
