Fun Facts
1) The Vinegar you get in Fish and Chip shops is almost always NOT vinegar. It is a mixture of water, ethanoic acid and various additives to make it look and taste as similar as possible, but ends up being much cheaper to make.
[/USER]
Just an extra fun fact, what dante is talking about here is sodium acetate. It is also the primary ingredient in reusable hand warmers. I have actually cut open a hand warmer before and used it as seasoning, so I can personally confirm :D

Thank you @Dante for opening the cafe and inviting me.
Food Table
So, as you probably guessed from the fun facts, we will he having a food table with all kinds of questions about food, pictures and mouth-watering descriptions are encouraged.
1) What is your favourite food
My favorite food is atlantic salmon with oven roasted potatoes and asparagus.

2) What is your LEAST favourite food
I have never tried them, I just can't get past the mental image, calf testicles

3) What food reminds you of better times
Sometimes my mother would put a roast in the oven before church with potatoes and carrots. We butchered out own meat so it was really good meat, tasty. This is the iconic home cooked meal, some home made bread and butter (actually home made butter) and I never appreciated it at the time. Now I do.

4) Do you know and love any good that most people probably haven't tried
Fried pig brains. You cut the skull open with a bone saw, similar to a hack saw, take the brain out and slice it into 1/4" slices. Fry it with a little lard, so tasty.

5) Do you know any great places to eat?
Texas Roadhouse
6) Tell us something we dont know about food or drink

Scotch is any whiskey made in Scotland. Bourbon is any whiskey made with 51% or more corn in the mash.

Eclectic Table
This table is more random and is filled with just whatever questions came to mind at the time. Enjoy.
1) What super power would you chose if you could

I would choose to listen to people's thoughts without them knowing. It would make life very interesting.

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn.
Playing an acoustic guitar. It is a chick magnet.

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why
French is the language of romance, so sexy.

4) Tell us a happy memory
When I was about 14 my dad made me skip a day of school to go fishing with him. We fished all night, a Coleman lantern hanging over the side of the boat to attract minnows which in turn attracted crappies. The sun rose and we switched to fishing for bluegills with red worms, we had slip bobbers and had to set the the right depth according to the fish finder. My teachers gave me a hard time about taking a day off school to go fishing but it is my favorite memory of my dad.
5) Tell us something we dont know.
In the old fashioned way a hog is dunked into boiling water to sear it, then the hair is scraped off with scrapers. This is what we used to do. When butchering, the skin with the outer layer of fat is cut off and cut into about 1" x 1" chunks. This is then heated up in a cauldron with a fire built underneath until the fat melts. We had a press to put the pieces of skin in, press out the liquid fat into a 5 gallon bucket, and what was left on the skin was cracklings. When the melted fat was cooled off it solidified and was lard.

Hi everyone *grouphug2

Food Table
1) What is your favourite food
Chocolate, nuts, any well-prepared dish from any continent, tbh.

2) What is your LEAST favourite food
Maybe pickles. Oh, and cabbage.

3) What food reminds you of better times
The smell of cinnamon reminds me of when I lived in Sweden (best time of my life) because of their cinnamon buns.

4) Do you know and love any good that most people probably haven't tried
Well-prepared tofu is delish.

5) Do you know any great places to eat?
Yes, plenty. The place with the best food I've ever had in my life is a tiny Japanese/Caribbean vegan restaurant in Amsterdam. The food is unlike anything I've ever seen, it has an edgy/zen style to it and is nature-themed, and you often gotta wait for a table, but it's incredibly worth it. I wish I was exaggerating. :p I think it's this one.

6) Tell us something we dont know about food or drink
I'd rather not. ^^

Eclectic Table
1) What super power would you chose if you could
Time and space control.

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn.
Perhaps public speaking like a pro.

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why
German, but I have learned it. Then Swedish when I lived in Sweden, and I've also been learning it... (Why would I want to learn something and not learn it?)
One that's on my mind lots is obviously Finnish, because Finland is my favourite country of all, but it's not a priority right now.

4) Tell us a happy memory
One of the best days of my life was the one I spent in Helsinki. It was just like I imagined and much more. Was with good people, the weather was great, and I was in heaven. :)

5) Tell us something we dont know.
If you don't know it, why would I?

Recruitment Table
Someone already volunteered, so... *woohoo

Fun Facts
1) The sky isn't blue. That's just the ocean reflecting on it.
2) Cats see in black and white. They can't distinguish colors like humans do.
3) There are some deep sea creatures that feed in lava. They eat the cooled minerals that enter in contact with the ocean.

Food Table
1) What is your favourite food

Shrimp, salmon and seafood in general.

2) What is your LEAST favourite food

Coconut. Can barely smell it.

3) What food reminds you of better times

Oranges remind me of my childhood. My grandfather had a few orange trees and I used to play there, climb on the trees. My cousin and I made a treehouse on top of one. Everyone were worried.

4) Do you know and love any good that most people probably haven't tried

Squid rings. They have a texture like plastic. Most people would be creeped, I liked it.

5) Do you know any great places to eat?

I know a few pizza restaurants. The food is good and it's affordable.

6) Tell us something we dont know about food or drink

Bananas contain alcohol when they are ripe.

Eclectic Table

1) What super power would you chose if you could

Islam says it's unreasonable to ask oneself this type of question and I agree. So, I'll skip. We shouldn't try or imagine to be anything but ourselves.

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn.

I'd like to play violin. I'm making plans to getting started.

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why

French. It's the most beautiful language, there are many intellectuals in France and in my opinion, they have the most classy and refined culture there is in the world. I know basic French. It's difficult to learn.

4) Tell us a happy memory

In high school I had around 5 friends. I went to their their houses and met them in their place at least once for each of them. Then someone suggested we do something at my place. I was kind of ashamed because my family is poor, and they all had neat houses. Around 15 people arrived to watch the movie and a neighbor my age wanted to join. It was nice to have so many people around.

5) Tell us something we dont know.

Chick Corea the jazz composer died about a month ago of cancer.

I sometimes think about opening the Cafe but I rarely have a theme or can come up with questions. Also I don't get on the internet until after dinner which means the day is almost over in all the world so why bother?

2) What is your LEAST favourite food Fish
3) What food reminds you of better times Amreican Chop suey which when I had a family we all liked
4) Do you know and love any food that most people probably haven't tried; I can't say "love" as I have tried alligator and yes, it tastes like chicken
5) Do you know any great places to eat? Mostly local.
6) Tell us something we dont know about food or drink Don't have anything

Have a good day

1) The sky isn't blue. That's just the ocean reflecting on it.
Hmm, that's actually not a true fact. :D

It's just (white) sunlight entering our atmosphere and the blue frequencies being more often absorbed by its particles, and then radiated back in all directions. At sunset, the angle and distance sunlight has to travel changes so it hits particles closer to Earth, which happen to reflect more reds.

Fascinating stuff, thank you for bringing it up! *stars*stars*stars

OK, Im actually going to reply to one of my own Cafes for a change :P

Food Table
1) What is your favourite food
A really good roast with all the trimmings. If it doesnt include at least 2 types of meat, 2 types of potatoes, parsnips, carrots, peas, Yorkshire puddings, appropriate sauces (apple for roast pork, cranberry for roast beef etc) and enough gravy to waterboard a whole rugby team, its not good enough :P

2) What is your LEAST favourite food
Liver, and from reading the replies it seems I'm not the only Liver hater.

3) What food reminds you of better times
Norwegian Julepølse, I havent had any since the family split up. In fact a lot of Norwegian food belongs on in this question. More on this in Question 4 of Eccentric table.

4) Do you know and love any good that most people probably haven't tried
Not really, unless you count the Norwegian christmas food..

5) Do you know any great places to eat?
Yes. There is this eccentric little cafe in Norwich called "The Bicycle Shop" the interior looks it was once someone's home which was thoroughly converted and the odd bits of furniture and odd layout are the only remaining evidence, it gives it a remarkably homey feel, the staff are friendly, and though the menu is only ever 3 or 4 things, it changes every day and everything on the menu is always excellent.

Eclectic Table
1) What super power would you chose if you could
I asked this question for a reason, I find people's answers kind of telling. I used to go for the cool or subtly OP super powers, but as I grew up I found myself going for Teleportation mainly for the commute and holiday potential, imagine living in a beautiful but isolated location and working 100 miles away in a city with 5 minute commute.
Although, lately I have been leaning towards Telepathy, because I am desperately tired of never knowing for sure what anyone is thinking.

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn.
Piano. I wrote this question specifically with this answer in mind.

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why
Norwegian, because I feel like I SHOULD know it having a Norwegian mother and all.

4) Tell us a happy memory
Christmas at my mother's parents house. The snow is falling outside thick enough to reach my knees at the time (I was a kid) Mormor (literally "mum's mum") was in the Kitchen baking fresh bread a couple times a week, and when christmas eve dinner rolled around we would all gather around the large table, my mum and dad, sister and brother, grandparents and usually an aunt and uncle with some cousins, and plate after bowl of delicious food would be place in the centre of the table, and Morfar ("mum's dad") would ALWAYS, without fail ask us what the spoon meant at our place setting, and tell us "It is a profit, it says there will be desert." Then, only when all the set up is done, Mormor is sat down and we have said grace, do we help ourselves to the food. Then everyone helps clear away the empty bowls and plates and desert comes out with a "I told you so" smile from Morfar, and we eat and chat and laugh, then only when everyone is finished, all of it is cleared away and properly cleaned up, and everyone is in the living room, do we open presents. (Norwegian tradition is Presents on Christmas Eve) The presents were always kind of underwhelming as I remember, itchy jumpers, socks, toys I didnt like, but it didnt matter because it was just such a nice time. I miss it every christmas, doubly so after Mormor died.

5) Tell us something we dont know.
Probably something many of you probably didnt WANT to know, but cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus. When you get it "down below" it is called Herpes, and causes occasional weeping sores, when you get it in the skin of the face it isnt really called anything except when it causes an occasional sore which gets called Cold Sores. It IS transferrable, and non-curable, once you have it, you will have it for life and it will cause cold sores on occasion, so if you get cold sores, do your best not to spread them :P

Yay so happy to see a cafe for today, ty for posting it @Dante & for tagging me! :) Love the tables thing, I think I'm gonna go to both of the tables so then at least online I can say I am a "social butterfly" which I've NEVER been described as, ever. Well now I have, by me at least lol ;) :) Cool facts too I didn't know those.

Food Table

1) What is your favourite food
Way too many to put just "one" here but some of my faves are: pasta, chocolate, cheese, samosas, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Greek, sushi (the non-raw rolls mostly, can't eat them anymore though cos of the rice), chips, crackers, fries, onion rings, cake, pie, like I said, lots of things lol.

2) What is your LEAST favourite food
Olives, definitely. So gross.

3) What food reminds you of better times
Bread and pizza cos I can't eat them anymore and when I still could those were better times cos then I could enjoy their delicious taste. I miss them. RIP bread & pizza you will be missed dearly by me, always :(

4) Do you know and love any good that most people probably haven't tried
Various Vegan foods (my sis is Vegan so whenever we go there it's all Vegan all the way) like tofurkey is actually quite good. I guess Vegans out there have prob. tried it anyway lol.

5) Do you know any great places to eat?
I like most fast food places, don't go to restaurants very much but there's some good ones I've been to & liked a lot.

6) Tell us something we dont know about food or drink
This is kind of impossible to answer because I have no way of knowing what anyone else does or doesn't know. I guess the only thing I could say is in terms of my own experience with it so how about that I've never tried Spam? I dunno lol sorry.

Eclectic Table

1) What super power would you chose if you could
Being able to be invisible, ohh how perfect & awesome that'd be! I know exactly where I'd be going :) ;)

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn.
I like your piano answer Dante so I will pick that too (sorry not trying to be a copycat just can't think of anything else lol). I know what you mean about making q's that you have an answer for in your mind, I always consider this with all the cafe's I've ever posted lol. If it's not a q I want to answer myself, I won't be asking it in the first place ;)

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why
Spanish, I technically did learn it a bit in high school but can't say I can speak it with any kind of fluency which I think would be impressive to be able to do. Don't think I have the patience to get to the level of mastery with another language though.

4) Tell us a happy memory
Going to California when I was 15. Had only been there 1 other time before and since I was a 4 yr old that time I did not have a memory of it. Was the first time my sis & I got to go to Disneyland, and we also got to go to Universal Studios and drove around some other places close to there, it was really great and I was so happy cos all my friends had been to Disneyland I was the only one who hadn't but after that I was able to say I'd been there too so I felt at least a bit less lame lol :)

5) Tell us something we don't know.
What I'm thinking right now. Lol. Trust me. You don't WANT to know :p ;) *hiding *shy *shh *halo

Hey @Dante thanks for the tag and opening the cafe. Love the facts and pics, the ones food make me kind of hungry.
1. Love all food except #2
2. Cooked spinach and any type of squash.
3. None.
4. Pickled bologna.
5. Most bars make a good burger.
6. A type of ginger ale called Verners can only be found primarily in one state of the u.s.
I'd also like to give a shout out to the potato. It is a highly underrated food.
On to the eclectic table.
1. I'm boring, none.
2. How to play the drums would be cool.
3. Viking. Why not?
4. A few months ago my 16yr old son recalled his fav memory of his 9th Birthday when I didn't have much money and had get to real creative in making his day special. It was cool to see how his remembering affected him, to see the same awe (" how did you do that without waking me up?!") I'll never forget that.
5. I have plumbing issues in my bathroom.

Hi everyone and thanks @Dante for having me. I'm going for the Eclectic table:

1) What super power would you chose if you could:
The ability to absorb others' superpowers and gift it to others

2) If you could learn a single new skill to perfection in one night, what would you learn:
Definitely the ability to compose music. I'm somewhat of a melomaniac and have never been able to play any instrument well. So when it comes to composing, mastering the piano would naturally be the best place to start.

3) What language have you always wanted to learn and why
Japanese. I find the tone and inflection fascinating.

4) Tell us a happy memory
I should be trying harder, but I'm unable to think of a genuinely happy moment at this point. I guess when I used to play football (soccer for Americans), all worries fade when I'm running around on the pitch.

5) Tell us something we don't know
When normalcy (in the context of the pandemic) will resume, if ever.
