Not really, since I live in Tennessee, the state was first settled with being 20% Scotch-Irish so it is very Ulster Protestants. True, I was born in Michigan, and the man that came to America with my Scotland clan name, was working in the coal mines and left Scotland on his own when he was 14 years old to dig for the California Gold Rush. He must have thought, I am child laborer to dig in a coal mine for Englishmen in London to have a heated winter house. So why not come to America and dig for gold than coal. Smart kid, when he was 18 he owned two farms.
@Callousgirl you've clearly done your research, I'm impressed. I think most Scottish people back then emigrated because of hardship and in search of a better life.

I did not do the research of the family tree, that research was done by my sister. She has sent me detailed historical evidence of the family tree. My sister was interested to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sure, she discover that information, plus, a different branch on my mothers side who was a loyalist and moved to Canada. So, I have Dutch, Canadian, French, German, English, Scottish, Irish, Norwegian, Swedish, running around in my DNA. It is nice to have that information, but, since I am not going to have children -- it just shows I am just a evolutionary dead end. Since my father only had daughters, it just becomes self evident that my fathers Scottish clan name will go extinct. So the evidence of the family tree is not really that important to me. My last name has value, but, it is complex how I feel about it at any given time.
