Well, it depends on the band and the venue. But I know like Slipknot, for example, does not want people sitting at their shows. Corey Taylor will probably personally kick you out of the concert if he sees you sitting lol.
I don't think it's ok from him. *dunno

He's done it before. I saw a video of it on YouTube. I agree with you, that it's kind of mean, but hey, it's his show. He can do whatever the fuck he pleases technically.
People pay for his show. I agree he can do what he wants on stage, but respecting your audience is kinda nice too. :p

Yeah, that guy wasn't getting his money back either.
Or wait a minute, no, I'm wrong. He did get his money back I think. I believe Corey said something to the extent of, "I'll pay you back the money myself. Now get the fuck out of here; no one sits at my fucking shows."

It just took me 7 hours to watch a one hour TV episode. That's how fucking shot my focus is. And it's not a matter of not enjoying it, I was interested, but I kept zoning out anyway and having to rewind it over and over again.

Probably shouldn't complain, since it's something I'm doing to myself.

Haha @Auri and @Aurelia
I remember taking my daughter to her first gig when she was around 8 or 9. It was only a fairly small local venue so no seating. When we came out I asked her if she'd enjoyed it and she very wearily said "yes but I just wish they'd put some chairs out and turn the volume down a bit."
She's never lived it down

Usually VIP tickets allow you to come first, so you can get the first row, which is The Place To Be. Otherwise you need to come much in advance, camp in front of the venue, then make your most beautiful sprint to the barrier. lol The atmosphere of the crowd also makes more than 50% of the concert in my opinion. It's not uncivilized people there, it's people living the show to the fullest. I really recommend the first row if that's possible for you, practically and mentally. :)
@Aurelia

that’s just uncomfortable. There is no discipline even if you get VIP tickets no one cares if u were there first, everyone will try to take ur first row spot whenever they get the chance.

Getting squished like sardines in a can and pushed over doesn’t sound fun or give “more” spirit to the concert, it’s just rude, and to think you paid that much for all the trouble it’s just not worth it, it’s not like u even get to meet the artist up close and personal.

if a vip standing ticket would cost me 200-300$, i better be getting a seat with adequate space.

Yep. Apparently, he's also kicked someone out for flipping him off and someone who was texting during the show, got their phone slapped out of their hands.

Back in 1969. The Who was playing Woodstock and some dead-head called Abbie Hoffman invaded the stage. So their lead guitarist, Pete Townsend, told him to "fuck off my fucking stage" he then followed this up with rapturous applause "the next fucker that walks across my stage will get fucking killed."

No, trust me, once someone gets the first row, they don't leave it. Not even a millimeter. *bleh The only reason I took VIPs a few times (which were like 10$ more expensive than the regular tickets) was to be in the front and it was worth it.

Of course you're still allowed to go sit if you prefer that, it's fine. But the fact so many people like this atmosphere of being "squished like sardines" (which in fact doesn't even happen so often) means there is something enjoyable in it.

Yes, there is something special about it, because not only your sight and hearing senses are stimulated, but also your sense of touch with the proximity to other people, much less smell and taste. Even visually, you are much closer, the confettis fall on you, you call feel the heat of the pyros on your face, you can sing, dance, jump, whatever alone or with other people, great feelings. In the first row, you have a special connection with the artist(s), they can see you. Being in the crowd, preferably quite close, is just a totally different experience than sitting.

Sure, sometimes it's annoying and not cool at all, but it's not happened to me very often and I suspect had something to do with my foul mood to begin with. I did sit on a few concerts, but they're usually not my favourites, clearly.

All right, he had just been "attacked", I understand. But kicking people from the audience for enjoying the concert the way they want and that isn't breaking any social rules is a no for me. Yes, it's sh*t when people watch your show through their phone, you can minimize it by asking not to do so, but don't ruin someone's evening just cause you want a pretty audience.

naahh i dont want to be squished like sardines amidst the body odor and sweat of everyone, that's not special. You can do that while commuting in an overcrowded public transpo for less the price

i'm talking about indoor concerts though, it's nothing like outdoor/open field concerts where people can put a blanket to sit on top of it.

vip tickets here can go up to 1,000$, do u really think that's worth it? to stand for hours, unable to sit, squished in a crowd, no elbow room, sweaty skin against sweaty skin, breathing everyone's halitosis? people will push you aside to get your spot, i've seen the videos of people from the back forcing their way to the front.

and to think VIP meant you're supposed to be treated special, with great comfort, nothing of those i've mentioned are comfortable.

and no you can't sit, because it's a standing ticket, there are no chairs, you can't sit down on the floor unless you want to get trampled and have your view blocked by everyone, you can't sit anyways because everyone's crammed within an enclosed space.

They're worth the same here... It just depends on the band and what's included in the VIP ticket. I'm not interested in meeting some big bands, so no I don't go paying 1000€ for it, or more. If that was the price to be in the front, of course I wouldn't do it either, I'm not in such a financial position at all. Most of the time at my concert there are no VIP tickets or I don't take them, so if I really want to be in the front (for my favourite bands), I have to come early, that's all.

I was talking very much about indoor concerts. We only have outdoor festivals when the temperatures allow it, but not concerts. It's cold here.

I've never smelled body odour or sweat on anyone at a concert. Never at any of my concerts, no matter where I stood. I did on Summer festivals outdoors though, but then I can also smell mine.

Yes, people want to get closer, of course they do, but they don't get the first row unless a person lets them have it, or if they become aggressive about it. We have security here and they can see what's happening in the front row, and also... we're civilized people, I've never seen someone fighting to be in the first row.

That all being said, it's fine, I understand why you don't want to go into the crowd. Please don't judge people going there and how it is unless you've been there yourself. I also have no reason to convince you of it because you're enjoying yourself at concerts, I am enjoying myself. Perfect, all people are different. Let's just be happy.

i’ve been to concerts and always chose the patron seats, i watch those people standing in the vip section dance, jump, and be rowdy, and the concert smelled like sweat, very unpleasant.

i wouldn’t even mind people with their phones up, but the rowdiness and smell of sweat in a enclosed area, hell no

Okay, I can’t speak for all types of music, venues, climates and fans. I know people party differently around the world. :p

I brought stuff downstairs to put in the community room. We can put anything there, like clothes, toys, food. etc. So I put some stuff there we don't use. I was alone, there was no one anywhere around....then this old lady appears out of nowhere. I heard no doors open or close, no elevators were opening...it's like she appeared out of nowhere. Which is weird I guess. but yeah. I said hi and she said hi, she continued to watch me from the doorway. There's a whole room that's open, so I find this weird. Finally she moves, I think she's going to sit down...no, she's standing behind me. My mom's like "Maybe she's lonely and wants company", yeah and maybe she's a face eating shapeshifter from Mars, we don't know that either. Next time I'll just fart loudly or something to scare her away.
