My diet is mostly pretty good I think. Five fruit and veg a day etc. But chocolate is my nemesis. I cant have it in the flat without eating all of it. Yesterday (for the second time) I ate the box of chocolate I bought for my support group. So Im now even stealing other people's chocolate! The only answer for me is to not have chocolate in the flat. I've bought some organic cocoa powder and have been having that in porridge and I'm hoping that will salve my chocolate longings a bit. It was favourite food of the Aztecs apparently, though I'm guessing they didn't get their's from the supermarket. Anyway, will see how that goes. tbh I enjoy chocolate and wish I could eat it in moderation. Its stress I guess.

So I met my goal of going out for another long walk today. I walked 4 miles with my niece this morning. Then we went blackberry picking this afternoon so walked some more. In total I've done nearly 20000 steps today :)

Food wise I've done pretty good. I didn't have breakfast, just coffee. For lunch I had some nuts and some fruit and for dinner I had chicken breast with a bread roll and salad with a small portion of blackberry crumble for dessert. And I've drunk more water today, probably about a litre and a half.

So last week I set myself some goals for the month and I want to check how I'm doing:
*cut down on the amount of carbs I'm eating, particularly bread. I have eaten less carbs than I had been, but would like to reduce carb intake a bit more this week
* cut down on the amount of alcohol I'm drinking. I'm going to try to have at least 3 alcohol free days a week. I did manage 3 alcohol free days :)
* exercise more. Go for a walk of at least 30 minutes 3 times a week, do at least 8000 steps every day and do some toning exercises 3 times a week. I went for a walk 3 days this week but I didn't manage 8000 steps every day. However, I have walked almost 70000 steps this week so averaged more than 8000 a day :) Unfortunately I only managed toning exercises once.
*drink more water and green tea. I haven't done very well with this.
*visit this thread every day for the rest of the month to report progress. I have done this this week :)

All in all, not a bad week.

Let's all have another good week this week. Good luck everyone :)
Just like I said, I'm impressed :D You're on the right way ! Congratulations.

Last week I ate only on the evening / afternoon in order to let my insulin levels as low as possible. I think I had good results and I will probably continue on that. I like it. And it lowers my global calories intake. I also drank a good amount of tea.
For this week I would like to listen to my body more, even though I think I did it quite well last week.
I also would like to wake up early and go to work early... And I'm writing this from my couch while I should be at work... I woke up at 12:00 :( So I failed already, maybe tomorrow I will succeed !
I tried croissants again and failed again haha, I'll try again someday but for the moment I'll bake something else ^^
Also, I have to take a few decisions in my work because it affects me directly.

@bobbob cocoa powder is actually quite healthy :) I used to eat a lot of brioche with chocolate, so I stopped buying brioche ^^ I also stopped buying good chocolate, only chocolate for baking (not very od eaten raw) to be honest it works quite well !

I had an extra meal than usual today 'cos I was hungry, a healthy sandwich though is all it was and low in calories :)

I did not reach my goal of 30 minutes exercise so i'm only going to aim for 20 tomorrow.

Good luck everyone.
You're doing great I'm sure it will turn out well :D yay

Wow...a 4 mile walk @Woowoo---good for you and everyone else for eating healthy---and @bobbob I can relate to the chocolate thing...one thing I do is buy dark chocolate honeycomb and then keep in fridge and cut a piece in half and eat slowly...that seems to work for me as they are too big to eat in one bite...as admit have bought my mother-in-law chocolates that know she likes and then I end up eating them and have to buy more for her...lol...

So my OH has started "walking" the stores...so with his pedometer we've discovered four inside perimeter walks at large hardware store is a mile...so have added that to my routine after swimming. Still swimming about 40 laps but when did the math was a bit disheartened that think is only 1/2 mile ...even though takes me 45 min-60 min so will have to work on increasing as would like to get up to a mile...

Wishing all the best...know that we can do this...

So how has everyone's day been today? I did pretty well on the food side of things, I'm honestly too tired to exercise. I loved @Woowoo 's idea of setting weekly goals. I am one for goals and targets so I might steal that idea :)

Today has been a healthy day; I am not hungry which is a good sign that I'm eating plenty of food and I know I am getting enough nutrients.

I really admire you guys/gals for all the exercise ye do. I feel too unfit to exercise and it doesn't help that I am an all or nothing kind of person. Some ideas would be very appreciated regarding getting myself to actually use my treadmill.

Well done all of you, ye're smashing it guys.

Do any of you have any targets for the end of the month? @Woowoo @sassy123 @Kiwi2016 @Lightsout @bobbob @Patafikss @Innocent Forever @Rockclimbinggirl

My goal from last week - 1st of November is to lose 21lbs.

I would just like to be down the weight I am up and 3 pounds on top of that then I will have reached a mini goal I could be happy with I want that number to be my top weight number when my weight fluctuates because I am always going to have to be careful.

I've had a pretty good day. A cappuccino for breakfast, a jacket potato with chicken and salad for lunch, and roast pork with cauliflower, swede and kale for dinner with a meringue nest and raspberries for dessert. I also had one gin and slimline tonic.

As you know I've been struggling with what to drink that's not too unhealthy. I like green tea, but don't always want a hot drink. Today I tried Lipton mango iced tea which is really nice and only 48 kcal per 250 ml so much healthier than sodas :) As well as that I managed to drink 2 large glasses of water.

I haven't had time to go for a walk but I was doing a lot of rushing around at work so have done nearly 10000 steps :)

I've started exercising with greater regularity.
Thursday, walk around the track--for half an hour.
Friday, Stretch & Balance class (=Yoga).
Today I did another exercise class with a cardio and strength component.
Foods okay. I've eaten some carby food, but less food all together. My clothes feel loose on me.
My exercise tomorrow will either be a walk or the strength & cardio class again.

Well done, it sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up :)

@Petal Maybe you don't feel motivated because you're bored of this exercise ? What about trying something else ?
Also, when you're on the treadmill you can put a TV show on (45mn) and you're allowed to stop only when the episode ends :D You start slow because 45mn is a lot, and just try to stay in your rythm. If you feel it's too much, slow down, but the goal is to finish the episode ! It doesn't matter if you finish super slowly, just keep moving
I don't know if you watch TV shows but you can do it with all sorts of videos if the idea appeal you

About my goals for the month, I can't really tell about how much weight I need to lose because I don't have a scale, but last week I was indeed thinner, and it seems my legs are FINALLY getting thinner, that's what I wanted since the begining. Maybe in 3-4 weeks I will finally be in a shape I like ! So this would be my objective :)

@EZ Writer Congratulation, you're on the right track ;) keep going !

@Woowoo good job ! I bought some tea that is made to be done cold : 30mn in room temperature water, then remove the tea and place the bottle in the fridge, you have an awesome cold drink, homemade \o/ It's perfect for hot days, and it's still very tasty
alternatively, you can steep you tea 5mn at 95°, then let it cool down and then put it in the fridge, you actually have different aromas (and stronger) but it's you to decide what you prefer !
i'm talking about the AquaExotica from Kusmi Tea

Today I ate a few cherry tomatoes and I feel like I didn't eat enough yesterday as I had some kind of weird stomach ache, I feel tired. I'll eat a nice plate of pasta tonight, it's gonna be better ! I also brought a banana at work so I have a nice snack for 4pm :)
Tonight I will try to make Melon Pan (it's not made with melon, it's about the shape ^^) It looks really difficult, but it shouldn't stop anyone !

@Patafikss Thanks so much, your post makes great sense to me, I will put on some music in a while, get on the treadmill and see how I get on and I will let you know how it goes :) I appreciate your helpful response. I am very overweight so I need to bite the bullet and get the exercise in, in any way I can to be healthier and to increase my self confidence about body self image :) Hugs xxx

Hi @Petal I have the same problem with exercise, really don't enjoy it, so maybe I'm not the best person to be giving advice! However I think walking is good if you're not that fit, especially if you can build it into your daily life - like instead of driving somewhere or getting the bus, walk there instead. The other day I walked over 5km home from work, because I hadn't been active at all that day. Walking may not be as good as cardio exercise, but it's a lot better than nothing and you are building some muscle and burning calories. It's also good because you can distract yourself with the sights around you, or listen to music. Another tip I have from one of my friends is to listen to podcasts while exercising, there's so many out there on a multitude of topics.

I've had another good day. I ate a blt sandwich for lunch with some baked crisps, then for dinner I had roast beef with new potatoes, broccoli, swede, courgettes and carrots cooked by fruit salad.

Exercise wise, I haven't had time for a long walk but I've had several short walks and I've been running around at work so I've done 15000 steps today :)

I did pretty well yesterday too food wise. I was hungry and was craving sugar so I reached for fruit like bananas and pineapple instead of chocolate. I have had a good few days. Hopefully I can keep it going. I have been doing better than usual with water intake too, not marvelous but better than it was. Did not end up exercising yesterday as I fell asleep after a dinner of baked potato and low fat cheese with salmon, yum :)

@Woowoo well done for having such a great day. You will be healthier in no time at the rate you are going.

Not feeling good today. My mood goes down the drain after feeling okay for a few days. But health wise, im doing ok. Just had moderate exercise today, and so far im eating healthy food :) how are you doing?
Awh sorry to hear you are not feeling well, that sucks. I can definitely relate to the mood changes, pick out something positive you can do for yourself today and make it a goal to do it, that is normally what helps me - having focus and attention on something I like. Glad you are OK health wise, that is welcoming news.

I am doing just fine, chilling out listening to music, think I will watch Netflix for a while as its 4:30am lol , thanks for asking :)
