What is the meaning of the phrase, “go touch grass?”

Is it literally about getting outside for a sec, or is it one of those phrases that mean something very specific but are indirect ways of insulting someone? For example, I had to learn the hard way that, “help me understand…” is not an expression of curiosity, and “how’s that working out for you?” is not a request for qualitative data…

Fuck AI companies and their indiscriminate hoovering up any and all data that they can get their hands on to train their models! As a techie, I am worrying that boardroom ignorance of the principle that garbage in = garbage out is going to be the downfall of western society.

Only some reporters are calling attention to the immense power demands of all these cloud data farms and the environmental impacts of getting all the power into the machines.

It's not necessarily literal. It's really a way of telling someone that they spend too much time online and should try to engage more in life outside the internet. I have most frequently seen it used in a derogatory manner.
