The scene where Danny is tooling around the Overlook on his trike and goes around the corner
and sees the dead twins at the end of the hall
STILL freaks me out, and I've seen it at least fifty times, maybe a hundred..
Yes! I was thinking of that exact scene as I was posting. Even if you've never seen it before, the buildup to that is itself excruciating, because you just know that something terrifying is going to be around one of those corners.
"Come play with us Danny. Forever."
Just to make that and the whole movie a little extra horrifying for kid me, my name's Danny, lol. Luckily I was like 15 and not 8 years old or something, or else forget it, I'd probably still be in therapy about it*yes

Coincidence.

BUT...even as a die-hard atheist, I love films about this kind of stuff (Poltergeist, The Changeling, The Others, The Shining)...Just because it's fantasy and make-believe doesn't mean it isn't a fun, creepy ride .
I don't believe in curses either, but I do have an imagination and horror is one of the more imaginative genres. I also like the first 2 Hellraiser, although they're not for the faint hearted.

When I was a kid The Shining scared the living crap out of me, all of it did. But nowadays for me the most terrifying part is Jack Nicholson*bleh. It's one of those few 'perfect' films. The acting, the directing, the script, the lighting, the locations, etc. Everything from the first frame to the last is flawless.
It was as The Joker that Jack Nicholson terrified me the most.

Have you seen Hereditary, now that is one strange and creepy film, it starts off slow but by the end all many of weird and unsettling things have happened.

Pootie Tang, lol. Somehow I avoided seeing this one all of these years. Earlier I read this review of it online:

Pootie Tang crosses all cultural barriers to become the dumbest movie I've seen in an entire generation. But it is also funny as hell ... Pootie Tang strives for the dumbness it achieves, a feat few films can do ... this is a good kind of dumb. Like mooning. Like a cat falling off a table.
As soon as I read that I thought, ok now I know what I'll be watching later:D

The Shining is a classic :) Have you ever noticed that throughout the movie, every now and then it sounds like a voice whispers 'shone'? It's creepy. I like the bar, and the maze *hiding:D
