What Are Your Self Care Goals?

Hello and welcome to SF @Kaitylin ! :)
Hi thanks. How are you doing? Can not sleep yet.
I like your resources. I like researching about nutrition and alternative therapy.
I would like to come off all my medications, the side effects scare me. And the fatique is depressing.
But I am still breathing in a fashion. Lol.
I have read that the right foods, vitamins and minerals can help you recover from mental health problems if it is caused by not having enough vitamins.
Some people have auto immune diseases and need antibiotics because of viruses.

You're welcome! :)
How are you doing?
I'm ok. I'm generally much more sluggish in the Winter, but the herbal medicine I've been taking lately has been helping a lot.

I'm sorry it's like that.

If you want to come off of medication, you might be able to do that successfully, but it's important to do that in consultation with the prescriber, and it usually has to be done gradually. Sometimes people will try to come off of meds suddenly, and that can create a lot of problems.

Dietary changes, meditation, exercise, supplements, and traditional Chinese herbal prescriptions can help a lot. It's good to get the advice of professional regarding those things, especially Chinese herbal medicine.

Thanks good advice, I have come off my medications in the past and I get poorly.
So yeah gradually maybe better for me.
I do not know much about Chinese herbs.
I try not to mix my medications, like anti-inflamitories. Excuse spelling. Certain foods and grapefruit nor rarely drink alcohol nor coffee much.
I am the other way, I prefer autumn and winter. I get heat intolerance in the summer.

The links in my signature have quite a bit of info. There's a lot more to know about the subject though.

If you're getting conventional medication and Chinese herbs at the same time, both prescribers should be informed of what you're taking or planning to take.

With acupuncture, I think you'd still want to tell them what conventional meds you're taking, but otherwise wouldn't have to do a lot as far as combining is concerned.

On the fence over taking an art class for 8 sessions on Saturday afternoons. I would have to miss 2 bcz im going camping and the other day, a Bollywood musical. I think the art class would be good for my spirit and self care. Its close to $400 to which I feel is a lot but may be worth it. The class is the fundamentals of still life and figure drawing. I also think it would help my drawing skills. I luv to do this so im leaning towards going for it

Number one is get back to my running or at least walk 10,000 steps a day
Look after my diet - I am doing quite well and have lost some pounds already, have cut out biscuits every day, though chocolate is still self care!

Those are maintenance things really that I'm always doing, but I was just looking at IRL social group I used to be in - they go on walks and have meals, occasionally theatre or other events. I used to go often but lately work took over my life doing 2 jobs for last 3 years. So I plan to rejoin.

Basic goal - interact with more humans who aren't to do with work!
