I am just wondering what you all think will happen to you if die.
How do you, if you believe there is, vision the after life?

i am infinitely too stupid to know for certain. but here is what i think, what i believe, what i pray:

i pray that i leave this natural life soon, as my pain is too great, my hope too slight.

and so...

i pray that all things are living things.

i pray that all life is eternal.

i pray that when we pass from this natural life, we (our soul? our energy? our essence? other?) live on.

perhaps in human form.

perhaps in a place called heaven, perhaps in this world, perhaps in another.

i pray that everyone and everything is saved.

i pray that we are reunited with those we love and care about, and with those who love and care about us.

in life and love and peace and freedom and beauty and health and happiness.

eternally.

they don't call it a great mystery for nothing

then again on one hand they make out it's a wonderful place where all your pain is gone and everyone loves you but also judge you harshly for wanting to believe that and get there sooner and by your own choice...... it's hypocritical and also funny in the sense that it's akin to this:

an ice cream shop owner tells you everyone the most delicious ice cream in the world hidden in his back room and every day he brings ppl into his shop to boast about it while selling his other ice creams to the hungry crowd but NEVER showing any real proof about the ice cream other than those that would be considered dubious in their authenticity and also telling others one day he'll bring everyone in and see it and give everyone as much as they want

when people say they're gonna break in he switches to a scared defensive and tell's people they're bad amoral and disgusting and shameful to think such a thing and that all good things come to those who wait

that analogy sums up what the church does with god and heaven for me and it should make a good deal of sense

i feel there's SOMETHING after life as we have to have an energy which drives us a "soul" if you will and energy cannot be destroyed only converted etc so you'll be there in some form above all this rubbish of life imho

thankfully more and more people are realising religion is not necessary to be good people

the bible itself is just a big book of war's and death all in god's name anyways and a few healing miracles or mysterious writing or men in the middle of nowhere dehydrated and exhausted seeing things

it's a load of rubbish

if a truly omnipotent being was the creator of us then he's long gone and saying that one act from before our ancestor's existed ie: adam and eve condems us to being outside his domain until death only shows a sense of cruelty that a higher being should not show and instead is more likely the fabrication of men seeking to instil fear and control the masses

truth is no one know's what lies beyond death and believe me i've been close i'm ALWAYS close to death every waking moment now considering taking my life or another as i've further becomes sickened and disillusioned with others and my own weakness when you remove the unlikely and leave only the probable you are truly living in REALITY and while it's harsh i feel it's better than a sad lie we tell ourselves if that makes me a horrible person to those brainwashed by the notion of god and heaven and hell then so be it i don't suffer fool's i will simply respect others belief's and agree to disagree

No..Never..after death you finished.. no one can proved that after death he reborn,if he reborn then why he is not able to talk about his last life...

The way I see it; you don't remember how things were when you were a small child, do you? Do you remember your own birth?
Those memories seem to disappear- and so do the memories of your last life. Some things remain; but you can never tell what aspects of the current day you were passed on from your last life.

Thats because you are dead. Of course you cant remember things, your brain decomposes with the rest your body thus rendering completly and utterly dead.

There is no reason for sarcasm online simply because in order to use sarcasm correctly you need a good facial expression, this is a internet forum, so it is pointless to use sarcasm, but you are infact welcome. My point still stands, you wont remember anything because you are dead, there is no second life, or second chances you simply cease to exsist. Afterlife deductions are a by product of the fear of dying, just like Religion is the means to which early civilizations controlled their people.

Excellent. Thankyou very much for the history lesson.
However; faith is something needed for people to live-- otherwise there really is no point in living at all. Religion was introduced at first to give people a reason to which they live every day-- it wasn't implemented at the very beginning just to control people; that came later on.

I really don't care what you or anyone else thinks. I have my own opinion and you may think whatever you wish! I was simply trying to introduce a new idea to someone who hadn't thought of it before.
We're all miserable here- and you acting like an asshole is just making me angry and even more miserable. Keep that in mind while posting on this forum, because what you say may have an affect on whether or not someone kills themselves.

That's it.

I disagree. Many, many people live and enjoy life without any kind of religious faith. I used to be one of them (and my current depression/suicidality has nothing at all to do with my lack of faith).

an interesting discussion

i don't believe in religion personally but that's just me

so i try to rationalise it somewhat scientifically

something has to drive us as in an energy or a "soul" as most call it

and science shows us energy can change dissipate can be created etc but it CANNOT be destroyed or cease to exist

therefore that energy has to be converted to something else so the idea of spirits staying or moving on to a different plane is completely fathomable in that regard

Actually, energy can't be created either.

When you die, the energy that formerly kept your body functioning dissipates as heat, or remains in the body as chemical potential energy (e.g., fat, muscle, any food that may have been in your stomach at the time of death, etc.). No reason any of it has to ascend to a different plane or anything like that.

(Of course, if you're talking about "spiritual energy" or something of that sort, that's a different topic.)

haha thanks for the correction ;)

and yeah i'm talking about spiritual energy but a bit of a mix between fact and belief in a sense if you will

In my opinion i think that we are now in hell. I think we walk the plains of hell right now. When we die we move to a better place, something like heaven but not heaven. Kind of in the middle of both hell and heaven. Things arent all fluffy and perfect nor hard and hateful.

I guess maybe in a way we are reborn but not on this earth?

Personally I don't believe in heaven or hell, what a horrifying concept both of them are, eternal fire or eternal boredom. Spirits wandering the earth, no thanks, I feel alone enough now without being able to speak to the one person left in my life. My religion says I'll be reborn, another chance at getting it right, that would be cool if I could learn from this life. But in the end I believe we just stop, we die and thats all there is, no afterlife, no rebirth or anything else.

I'm agnostic so I don't even have an idea what's after this life.
In regaurds to death by suicide, will it be similar to the private hell like in 'What Dreams May Come' or like the realm of 'Wristcuters'.
Will we be sent through a process like in 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' or will we become the civil servents of the afterlife like in 'Beetlejuice'.
Will we be judged harshly if we commit the final act and be sent to hell?
I Wish I knew.
Personally, I find the Fire and Brimstone afterlife a story made up to frighten people into conformity and submission.
I actually hope it's like 'The Five People you Meet in Heaven' because there is so much of my life that I don't understand and would like to have explained.
