I think i will have to go with Mean Girls (2004), or black swan (2009)
I am not such a movie person tho, mostly series. Back in 2020 i thought I wont be in the mood for such long things, but i started watching friends bc of people recommending it way too often to me. After I got addicted to friends, i started watching everythig series and barely am in the mood for movies.
Mean Girls will never be not iconic

I am a Friends addict as well but I know this might be unpopular, but I just don't see the chemistry between Ross and Rachel. They have their funny moments together, but I don't like seeing them as a couple (no debate please :P)

that's okay, @Holding my breath ~we like "unusual," or 'eclectic,' (eccentric? what does that mean again!) ;) combos or/or "tastes," around here. Now, what is thsi Nothing Hill about? Hugh Grant, or seomthing! :D Sleepless in Seatle. Is hat like, a sequel to ...when harry met?? ;)
Not a sequel, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. An absolute classic.
Notting Hill also classic, Hugh Grant and Julia Robert’s. A very British film. Also brilliant.
Also a massive star trek fan, love Patrick Stewart.

I remember hearing of/or about it when it came out (Sleepless)~ as I recall, very well received! So, excellent taste* & two tremendous actors & stars. . ;^) but both SEEM fairly down to earth! I would not be, were I in their shoes. Heck, I'm not (that way) now! Ha :D
The British Classic, of course, I've known about but just never gotten around to..;) I really should one of these days~
It reminds me of that classic as well - I believe set in Britain (somewhere/London?) at Christmas time that has a million people in it as well... Can't think of the name--but I'd know it, if I heard it. ;)
And I was wondering which Star trek that was, as there have been so many (for me, anyway, to keep track of!). I think he, that actor is a very fine one & I always appreciated when he would come over here & go on the talk shows, as he was just so good & naturally witty: & FUNNY! (^; Amazing command & control over his performances, I wonder if he got his start on the stage/or in the theater.

Agree on Ross and Rachel, after my first round i pretty much skip their scenes. Its painful to watch. Even same for Monica and Chandler, minus their funny start. It also does have with the fact that I dont wanna watch the episodes where their lives get serious through events like marriage, job promotions, child birth, meeting the actual one. It makes me feel weird about my own life. I usually stick to earlier seasons where everything is light-hearted, and im around the same age as the girls in the 1st season anyway so thank god, it seems accaptable to not have it all figured yet. Hopefully I will be in the same place as them in the later seaons in 10 years.

Well, that's ok Princess! There really isn't much difference in between them (the quality) these days as they are so well made. And I love too, to get lost in a good series. Something with which I've missed, ever since cancelling my Netflix subscription a few years back. And they've made it a royal pain in trying to re-open it! I LOVED Black Swan so-much; I'd almost forgotten about that movie. Love that director as well. Now, which one are you? If I may (be so bold as to) ask! ;D & you don't have to answer..;) I will see Mean Girls one of these days, or die trying~ :D I think that movie seriously influenced a generation.

My favorite movie is 2001 A Space Odyssey. My second is Apocalypse Now. My third is Back to the Future.
Cool trio. Back in the days of renting movies from the video store, I would always try to rent 3 & then that seemed to be a decent number all around (even for carrying in one hand on my bike, I guess). Along w/a giant bag of candy! So you see, how times have changed. :D

I like the one where pacino plays the blind guy who is suicidal, that he won an Oscar for - & I believe he wrote a handwritten note, after the fact to his co-star, Chistoper or Chris, is it? who went on to later play Robin (if you've seen that batman?)... but in it, he'd said "...& even though I couldn't see you, I know you were great!" :D

I like the Sci-Fi movies, that have to do with Aliens, or going into outer-space. And then things go suddenly / terribly wrong. Usually with preferences heavily weighted, or weighed on, those that don't have us coming out on top (as the victors) in the end. Gives me great hope! ;)

Those are some great choices JDot. And seeing Waymond in your pfp has reminded me to mention what an absolute masterpiece Everything Everywhere All At Once is. Such a bizarre, stylish, inspirational movie. I really need to go rewatch that soon.

Is that the one w/David Bowie? Another one I have not seen, but heard many great things. Just like w/the one with Andre the Giant. And some others..;)
Yes, Bowie plays the villain
With Andre the Giant? Perhaps The Princess Bride? If so, 'tis a wonderful film, in my estimation, and worth seeing

Could I suggest 2010: The Year We Make Contact? It's a nice follow-up if you've seen 2001, A Space Odyssey, but also works by itself

peace
:)

Yes, that is correct... & it is the movie I was thinking of (that I know everyone universally loved, growing up - but somehow then - elementary school age, maybe? it just didn't speak to, or appeal to me!) :)
I have always wanted to check that one out, I remember hearing the director talk about how helpful the director of the original was, with his questions, and so on & so forth... So now I know something (more) of what it is about! ;) peace.
