I'm wondering ho won earth you've managed to see it? I haven't even managed to do that..;) (but I know o fit, of course, from its cover at the video store growing up - looked like one my sister would be interested in: hence, the~*> )...:)
I saw it in high school! Back then the screen caps and gifs from the movie were all over Tumblr (I was a Tumblr kid, a bit embarrassing). I like Winona Ryder and I thought she and Christian Slater looked cute together (even though it was a toxic relationship lol), so, there! :D I also liked the dark humor the movie has.

Nice, very nice! I'm going to have to see it one day, and my list, just keeps expanding & growing! ;) I bet they were a hot couple back then. :D uh-oh, "toxic?" you say~! :) dark humor is always good n' welcome. So, with the Tumblr then, was it as if you'd already experienced, or 'seen,' the movie (to some extent?) then?

and i'm even certain that is not my only favorite....
like just yesterday i was at my electrologist's office waiting for the procedure when she reminded me i could watch a movie. thusly, i was behooved to request my all time favorite movie by virtue of having never seen it!

it in fact has been a life long dream for the past 12 or so years to finally see this when my kids would laugh at me and say "no it aint on netflix or amazon's or whatever ever"! and i'd only be behooved to dream on...

well now dare i cut to the chase....
the movie is none other than Despicable Me and during the 2+ hours i was there during the procedure, i did indeed watch that movie and guess what. still a FAV... for my entire life long life... the past 12 years... and going forward! i highly recommend it.

Despicable Me is so fun! I love it. I feel like it ended up getting a bit of a bad reputation because of how popular and widespread the Minions got, unfortunately. And maybe too many sequels. But the first one was great.
I think i will have to go with Mean Girls (2004), or black swan (2009)
I am not such a movie person tho, mostly series. Back in 2020 i thought I wont be in the mood for such long things, but i started watching friends bc of people recommending it way too often to me. After I got addicted to friends, i started watching everythig series and barely am in the mood for movies.
LOVE MEAN GIRLS! Used to watch that all the time when I was younger. The other week at my work at the crisis center, I was sitting back with the adolescents, and they had it on. I couldn't see the TV from where I was sitting, but I could hear it, and it made me smile.
I've never seen the new movie musical that just came out, but the guy who played Damian in the new one went to my college, in the highly-ranked musical theatre program.

Agree on Ross and Rachel, after my first round i pretty much skip their scenes. Its painful to watch. Even same for Monica and Chandler, minus their funny start. It also does have with the fact that I dont wanna watch the episodes where their lives get serious through events like marriage, job promotions, child birth, meeting the actual one. It makes me feel weird about my own life. I usually stick to earlier seasons where everything is light-hearted, and im around the same age as the girls in the 1st season anyway so thank god, it seems accaptable to not have it all figured yet. Hopefully I will be in the same place as them in the later seaons in 10 years.
Omg, I agree about Monica and Chandler!! It feels weird seeing them together. I don't like any of the "power couples" they tried to push on us. Even though it seems to be working because A LOT of people like them. Another unpopular opinion (AND SPOILER), I like the episodes where Joey and Rachel got together. I think they had more chemistry. Joey was a gentleman to Rachel and if I remember correctly, she was one of the women he actually fell in love with! I just thought it was so sweet. I hate that a lot of people despise that storyline lol.

I tend to watch random Friends episodes and I usually avoid the parts where Ross and Rachel or Monica and Chandler had their stupid serious love storylines. Like when Monica and Chandler got married, or the proposal, Ross trying to stop Rachel from going to Paris. blah. lol. I realized that I tend to enjoy the later seasons (without the Ross/Rachel/Monica/Chandler love storylines) because I just thought they were just hilarious. And maybe because when I started watching Friends on TV, I started watching it from around season 8-10? I think?

I don’t have a favorite movie but I like old, circa 1970s or earlier movies. Why - because there was dialogue and it was well written. In the age of CGI it is so easy to make eye candy and nothing of substance. So along those lines, I think Casablanca is the most impactful movie I’ve seen. I also like the French film Delicatessen. It’s a dark comedy set in post apocalyptic dystopia, but the storytelling is brilliant. Honorable mention to Al Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick for some of the most innovative film techniques ever.

I do love CGI movies such as Avatar or Pixar and especially anything at all by Studio Ghibli. The latter of those still uses hand drawn art, and it’s so beautiful that it creates a whole new world to get absorbed in. I have seen the Pixar movie Wall-e at least 5 times and I still don’t think I have watched it without crying.

I like animated movies because if I want death, destruction, murder and mayhem, I can look at the news for free. I want my entertainment to be about something happy. Except for the remake of the First Omen coming out- I loved the original when I was a kid. I don’t really do horror movies anymore, but the trailers have sold me on this one.

I like your choices @JMG ~but tell me: who is your favorite Star Wars character?
Thanks MrB for your sweet compliment about liking my choices, and lol about asking “who my fave SW character is?” ha that made me laugh so much 😋 😂 😂 😂

Read most of the replies here (did a bit of “skimming” on some of it, sorry, lol) and saw the comments about Friends, just wanted to say I LOVE that show SO much, it’s one of my all time faves (along with Family Guy, South Park, Sex and the City, Breaking Bad, and a few others that I’m too embarrassed to reveal here lol) and ya I agree about Ross and Rachel and Chandler and Monica not having much chemistry. Loved the show anyway though, such a classic. Wish they woulda given Joey a solid gf too though, anyway maybe those show writer people just wanted one of the characters to “stay single” or who knows lol. I recently rewatched all the seasons of it, and currently been rewatching seasons 5-8 (I own 7 and 8 and got the other ones from the library, thank god for that place having DVD’s, yes I’m old school with watching DVD’s lol, whatever it is kinda easier in a lot of ways) and ya it helps me feel so comforted for sure :)

Very glad I didn’t post a cafe for today lol, I almost did but glad it didn’t interfere with this cafe getting so many (well-deserved, of course!) replies! Congrats on that MrB, awesome cafe! :) ;) I’m gonna try hard to post one for tomorrow, gonna be busy over the next couple days after that (for Easter) but ya definitely like the idea of there being an “Easter” cafe :)

Thanks @JMG ~for the "Kind Words!" : ) You know, I hate to say it... but I've never really watched, or paid much attention to Friends, so maybe that had something to do with how popular it was? Or I don't really know. All I know is, I don't even know where it's set (LA or NYC)? All I know is, every time I guess (say when it began in re-runs) I'd guess 'incorrectly!' I think, it was the colour of the walls, that was deterring/or distracting me! :D Will look forward to your Easter upcoming Cafe` & yes, I knew it! It's Indy, isn't it? (as in: Indiana..;))~>*

You’re so welcome MrB! :) Lol aw no worries about Friends, my friend doesn’t seem to really like it much either (much to my disappointment, lol) he has compared watching it as it being like a “candy bar” for the mind. I definitely did not like such a comparison at all, but he often picks apart most shows (just likes them to be high quality/well done/well written, which I can definitely appreciate and I like for shows/movies to have that too of course) and also I think he just usually doesn’t like “sitcoms” or any kind of comedy as well.

Anyway oh you asked where Friends is set, it’s set in NYC which I always loved about it since it’s a place I hope I will somehow be able to see in person someday. Lol about the color of the walls, ya I found that distracting a bit too but I love that they took a risk by doing that (talking about the “show creators” here of course, lol) most sitcoms just have boring white walls, those purple walls (in that one/main apartment anyway, lol) were definitely very different!

Aw thank you also for your kind encouragement about posting the easter cafe for tomorrow, I’m always worried to say in a current cafe that I plan on posting one “the next day” cos I guess I get paranoid that someone else will try to post one before me or something like that, but anyway I decided to just be brave and post about it anyway, and hope that my “worst fears” are nothing more than silly and paranoid lol.

Ok sorry this is kind of a long reply lol but just one last thing I wanted to say - lol about guessing “Indy” as my fave SW character :p

@JMG ~Honestly! I haven't ever even given it a very fair shake (friends...) so, you know? Who knows, I may LOVE IT. . :D That's it, the walls were pointing me Cali's way, for some reason or another. I will say, I do like a lot of those actors & actresses from the show. So, you know~ who knows? ;) Maybe I'll see the movie, some-day, instead? Save some time. :) There's lots of series I have got to see. Most of the big, or most popular ones. Game of Thrones. Sopranoes, et cetera~!* :D Those are actually the only Star Wars movies I have ever seen, and it's been light years since I've seen any of them. Seen Spaceballs, more recently~ (I think I saw Jedi when it first came out on video) ;) Great music/soundtrack! Played them in band. Wonderful Trumpet parts. I'm sure those sitting in front of me are now appreciative of all their hearing loss. . . :) We'll see you in your Cafe` (or Jim's)! :D

So I didn’t watch Friends when it was on TV. I don’t watch TV unless I get super hooked on a show like Wednesday or Breaking Bad. I have heard so much about how objectively good Friends was, like it is apparently a show where you don’t have to have any volume on to get the story, because the actors are that good at portraying emotions. I think I should watch it for the sake of cultural literacy since so many people consider it a favorite.

Also Family Guy is genius. You have to suspend your sensibilities a bit because it is so very crude, but it’s making fun of real things that happen today. I’m not easy to offend so I think it’s hilarious and it also causes me to take a look at some of my own cultural assumptions.

What about Bob was the type of movie I used to like (not that I don't - I just haven't seen it in years. Like galaxy Quest which was a spoof on Star Trek. Now I like action adventure movies and my attention span is growing short so that i only watch movies that are under 2 hours. But i like the Reacher series on Prime which are shorter than the books but just as good.

How about some tagging? @JMG @Lane @KM6710 @Witty_Sarcasm @Auri Please tag more
Thank you for opening and tagging me @MisterBGone and @cymbele . Itshard for me to remember a lot of the names of many of the names of the many of the movies that I've seen but any movies like Beetlejuice, The Bronxtale, the Breakfast club, anything from the 80's I luv 💓.
