I love the shore and sea, used to love solitary walks when I lived in Wales, though I expect it was probably far colder than where you are! Maybe one day I will move back to the coast, it could still be possible, but have to work and save relentlessly to get into a position where it's possible, also depends on property prices. I hope you can enjoy the beach and sea. Sorry you are feeling lonely 😥

@seabird I love the sea too. The Oregon Coast is wonderful, but may not get there again. Its a long drive, gas is expensive and my health isn't what it used to be. But I have some wonderful paintings hanging on my walls. They just can't capture the sounds and smell of the sea.
Hope you enjoy your ocean walks and feel better soon.

At least a couple of months now I've tried to feel and act kindly. I'm not good for much else, though I have done chores like making good food, cleaning & being companionable as I can. I also did the mural wall which looks good I think but it's hard to assess since I'm the one who created it. Being so far away and unable to see any of my family is a strange and sad feeling. I aslo very much miss having a cat & wish I had him back. I've asked about it but pets aren't allowed.
If I go back I wonder if I will have the strength to find work and fix my old junky house. It is in a nice place. It is the only bad looking house there and I know the neighbors hate me becauae I am too poor. So the social situation there is bad because of that. I'm not able to sell it because I wouldn't get enough money to get another place. So I'd end up homeless basically. My daughter can't let me live there becauae her boyfriend has the spare room for his things. & I don't have anyone who'd let me rent a room. My stuff is all at my house crammed into the garden shed. I guess my path has come to a dead end.
What about buying a small RV ? You could get yourself a cat and have room for your stuff. Would you be able to sell the house as it is if you are not well enough to fix it ? I am so sorry seabird, it sucks to be in that kind of situation. I'm currently living in my car, but at least. It's better than sleeping on the streets.

Paintings of the sea, sky and shore are a close second. You're still close enough, to get the moist clean air most of the time?
The huge cost for me in being here is it is not my home country and so I cannot easily visit my kiddos. :(

I will save that idea. It sounds really good to have my own space. I'm well enough to fix the house but I don't want it anymore, because it would be prohibitely expensive to bring it up to a decent standard. So I am selling it. Someone with money can do something nice with it. I'm done with trying to be successful with worldly things. I've never been successful at anything, so I'm not beating myself against it anymore.

@Paul1963 It bothers and saddens me that you're living in your car. If you were in Australia I'd say come and live here bc there's an extra room. But my partner doesn't know I'm here on SF, to put it mildly, it'd be a lot of explaining. Most regular people do not at all understand about suicide ideation, depression, or othet mental illness. I hide it from everyone, because they always think they can convince me to change, that they can fix me. They can't fix me.

That is so kind of you to offer seabird. You sound like a truly good soul. Thank you. I'm with you 100% as regards other people not giving us the understanding that we need as regards mental illness and suicidal feelings. I have lost so - called friends, and all of my family because of this. They simply do not understand, or worse, do not care about our struggles. I also cannot be fixed: I am 59 years old and have suffered from depression since the age of seven. Nothing works, my illness is persistent and untreatable. I no longer desire to get better. I only desire eternal rest. There is no possibility of me surviving another homeless winter. At the end of Summer, I think I will sell my car ( also " home " for want of a better word ) and then just travel abroad until the money runs out. It will be my sixtieth birthday in December. I seriously doubt that I will be here for that particular date.

i can't speak for your partner but they may understand. my wife knew i was suicidal because it was kind of obvious, and she was terrified. she knew about me blonging to the bad site and of course she felt worse. when i told her i joined this site she was beyond terrified and sad. once i explained what this site was about she was very happy i joined and even asks how everything on the site is going. your partner may be happy about you joining if they suspect that you have suicidal ideation. just my 2 cents lol

I've chosen & acted on a path that might be a sort of sell out. I'm not better. Things aren't easier, but at least things are different.
Is it worth trying something different, even if you don't believe in it?
Yes just so long as expectations are kept in check to protect oneself from disappointment like putting all eggs in one basket and hoping it will be best stick to minimum survival mode and anything else is a blessing

I don't miss the house, the area though beautiful was too cold in winter. I don'r miss r the town either. I'm not sure yet about being in a new country. Maybe it's too soon to tell. @Brokendownwreck Staying in basic survival mode is good advice. It's pretty much what I was doing by getting rid of most of my possessions, selling the house & coming halfway around the world.

I am so proud of you making the change. That is not easy. And you walked through that door. Good for you. I wish you so much

I agree with Bear. How did you do it? Did you have a yard sale or sell online or maybe rent out your home furnished. A house in MT could be a good air bnb location. But to deal with business stuff while living abroad and with stress already. I don’t know about that.
