I started doing weighted pull ups. Honestly I probably am doing them to soon. And it's hard. But I like the challenge. I went outside to do another set earlier but forgot to add the weight and with just my bodyweight I went flying up, completely took me by surprise. Almost hit my head on the roof.

Also did a new Person Record and got 7 bodyweight pull ups in a row. Getting closer to my goal of 30 lol maybe another 3 years.

I sometimes feel self conscious, I train at home a lot. But it's on a bar which isn't that easy to grip.
So I walk to a park sometime. To practice on a proper bar.
And so many people come up to me and give me advice. Some of it I really appreciate. But mostly it's about me doing too many reps. Then they kind of watch you and they look annoyed you didn't listen.
I know it's not optimal. But I don't know really train to look bigger or to get stronger. I just like the idea of doing cool skills. And I like doing the same thing for hours and hours. It's my escape.
Sorry it's just something that annoys me.

I also tried to run, and I firmly believe out of my own stubbornness that tall people shouldn't run. Because it did not go well. But I will keep trying until it clicks. I do have extremely long legs. Don't know if that's a good or bad thing for running ?

How tall are you @Harrow? Don't have to answer if you don't like. I had a friend who was 6'4" (193 centimeters) who got pretty good at running. From the reading I've done, it seems the key to preventing running injuries like a sore back etc., is to do strength work for the core.

I'm not that tall I'm 6 foot 1. Maybe I am just using it as an excuse. My problem is I'm clumsy. I cannot get into a rhythm. And I don't have flat feet, but for some reason since I was really young, I've always suffered with pain in the arch of my foot. Which doesn’t really make running appealing. But I hope with practice, I will get it down

Maybe get some insoles? They helped my feet a lot. (I don't know what's available in your country, but I just got some at a sporting goods shop). It's really important to have good fitting shoes too. Good luck with your workouts. I think it's great what you're doing and we all get to exercise in the way that feels good for us, even if it's different from how others think it 'should' be done.

3.5 miles today. Very slow, but strangely fun.
Just came here to post and saw your post. Well done.

I got out for a second run in 3 days - was going to go to 5k, but my body was firing a few warning volleys, so I "only" did 2.76 miles, which is amazing considering a few months ago I was wondering if I'd ever run again. Now to see how the body reacts.

Got my 49th consecutive day of 10,000 steps (walked or run) completed, despite the weather. Only got to 5000 earlier so had about 2.5 miles to do on my night walk. Weather was ok, then it started pouring and got lashed with wind driven rain. It died down a bit and managed to keep going. I thought the 10k steps streak was going to get derailed, but hopefully I can make it a 50 day streak tomorrow.

Got over the line. I made a 50 day streak of at least walking (and running some) 10,000 steps a day. I've also made it 5.7 miles along US Route 66 - starting in Illinois. Virtually, of course! Here's to another 50, and completing the 2000+ miles across the USA 😱

Today was core and some strength work for shoulders. I took a walk; got out the door with the idea of going for a run, but this time let it be just a walk as it was weirdly hot. Hopefully autumn is returning tomorrow.
Well done congratulations @AvidFan. Good luck with old US Route 66! : )

My 10k streak technically got broke last night - if we were being pedantic about it. According to my watch I've now reset to 0 days. But I did do my 10k steps. It's just with faffing about with a cat trio, then the virtual walking app, I kept stopping and ended up doing 9900 steps when the clock turned midnight, and another 200 2 minutes after midnight. No way to edit that on the watch. But screw the watch, I still did the steps, and refuse to turn my streak into a pumpkin because of some arbitrary wearable tech anomaly 😊

Speaking of pumpkins I saw my first of the season Halloween yard decorations today. πŸŒ»πŸŽƒ πŸ§™πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘» I dragged my self into running cloths and shoes and shut off my brain for a while. 4.5 miles this morning at 7 am. Good compared to how I hardly wanted to move back in May.

Well done @AvidFan. The watches are great for motivation but I agree; we own them but don't actually need them. I'm sort of addicted to watching my mileage & steps add up, and I love it when my pace improves by a few seconds. πŸ€ͺ

A HUGE milestone for me today. I ran a full 5k. First time getting that much done since early June, following my injury and layoff. Had one or two hip twinges early on, but probably just changing from boots to running shoes and my body adjusting. Got out on to the trails, wasn't too bad mud-wise. Even managed some uphill sections. Had one weird hamstring twinge on the right side but only happened once and then was fine. Ran 9.39/mile pace right at the end. Everything felt a bit wobbly but still seems to work. Wonder where I got to on my virtual walk? 😊 Just about to go and check and update my thread!

Managed to get my depressed self out the door by saying it's no big deal, just a tiny run, you can stop and come back anytime you want, no big deal. Ran 2.5 miles. Feel a lot better.
Love this, it's not easy to always find motivation for sure, also loving that you didn't set yourself up for failure and said "a tiny run is fine~"! *hi5 The best thing is the shower afterwards too, changes the feeling so much! *thumbsup

It's like they say "showing up is more than half the part of what you'll need to do" or something.
Going to the gym, like physically being there in your sports clothes before having lifted anything is worth so much... I feel. *yes4 Whether or not you're going for the full body workout or just 15 minutes of cardio. It just helps to show up.

I only exercise at home, the biggest hurdle is indeed just changing my clothes into sportswear from a passive state on the couch or whatever.
Once that's done it's near impossible not to start exercising. =)

@Citizen Insane that made me smile; it's all experienced as being true every day. It should be at the top of the Exercise Club thread. Thank you for the support 😊

Showering washes off not just the sweat and salt but the accumulated emotion which for me gets cooked - processed - in the heat of runs and strength workouts.

Yeah as well about the exercise clothes; I even for about 2 seconds considered trying to sleep in my running outfit. 😜
