Practical Advice I think I might have seasonal depression.

#1
It's the magical date, October 26th. I dreaded that day, because of how etched it was in my mind. The end of October kicked off a major depressive episode, and I experienced the following:
1. Loss of pleasure. I couldn't even distract myself from what was going on.
2. Loss of appetite, I didn't even feel the need to drink water! That water thing still baffles me to this day.
3. Psycho motor retardation. What it means that every action feels as if it would requires tremendous amounts of energy.
4. Suicidal Thoughts and fantasies. What would happen if I did it? How will people react?

Now this could be an just a period of feeling down, but I'm still worried that it would go like last year. Starts late October, carries to November.

If I was to sum up the current things on my mind, it would be that on top of my chronic pain, I now have this proto-depression lingering. So there are now two things that make it harder to get out of bed. When the weather starts to get colder, it's gonna be three things that makes it hard to get out of bed.

And so, I'd like to "catch" this before it goes any further, I feel like I am "sane" now, and can deal with it. Anything from an alternative view point of my situation, words of encouragement, empathy, or ways that helped *you* get out of your depression would be much appreciated. Also please try to summarize things and source more links and resources if you want me to check them out, I know that you're trying to help, but I'm not in the mood to click on links.

I think seasonal affective disorder is thought to be related to getting too little sunlight, so if it were that, it wouldn't end in November.

In traditional Chinese medicine, different organs of the body are thought to be more active during different seasons, and therefor an illness that comes in a certain season and ends afterward may point to a problem with a particular organ.

I'm just taking a guess here, but you might want to try including foods like cooked carrot, fresh ginger, and rice in your diet, particularly around this time.

I hope something can help.

i'm sorry that you have depression , i will try to share what i can.

you mentioned chronic pain, i'm not sure how bad the pain is but i can gaurantee that chronic pain causes depression. i suffer moderate to severe chronic pain so i understand.

you are going through a lot and from the way it sounds you get overwhelmed sometimes. the good thing is you're ready to fight to get better. of course first thing is talk with your doctor for possible meds and therapy.

i am going through sepsis recovery which is a long process and depresssion is getting worse. but through everything i go through i know i can get better if i keep fighting so please don't give up, you probably will but you have to fight to get back up. try doing anything that brings you joy and find things to occupy your mind, it does help.

from experience i can say try not giving up, keep fighting. friends can help and of course friends here will stand with you. if you ever want to talk feel free to use my inbox. you'd be surprised how much inner strength you have
