Insomnia? Welcome to Team NoSleep.

It might not work, but if you tell yourself I cant sleep, it's likely not helping you. Go to bed and think about all the things you have to do tomorrow, and realize it's likely 3am and you're in your warm cozy bed. What good does worrying about it do'?
Set aside a time during the day, that you will think about your problems or anxiety, then lay it to rest.

Well its almost 3am. I have been sleeping but had a bad dream and ive woken up feeling unsafe. My tummy is feeling a bit upset also. Going to look for a yogurt maker on amazon after reading @Gard post.
My yogurt maker costs about $30. It has a temperature and time control. I don't think you need a very expensive one.

Combined with avoiding very aggressive movies before bedtime, this has helped me. I hope it helps you too.

I've been having a bit more trouble than usual. Waking up tends to bring on a spike in anxiety, and then I hve to work on breathing to control it. But after trying it for a night, then not taking it the next, and repeating this a few times, I'm convinced taking magnesium glycinate before bed is helping me sleep through most of the night.

I tried magnesium glycinate too and it felt like it had the opposite effect on me

wow that's interesting. Did the pill have anything else in it, or just the m. glycinate? I wonder if it's possible to have different effects on males than females. I'm always curious about just how much of a placebo effect happens for me. But, if it's harmless and it's helping me sleep I figure it's fine.

Tried it once but didn't really seem to do much either way. Another very early wake up for me and a body whose battery is flatlining, I have a 12 hour work day stretching ahead of me, with last meeting mid evening, I'm not sure how I'll get through it. I suppose the same as every other day for the last 2 years of hell. 😢

Speaking of work, I lost my job because of my insomnia. So yeah there's that. No idea what to anymore. Doctors are hopeless. Noone can help. What's the solution

I think I have tried every form of magnesium. I never felt like it made enough of a difference. it can really help with anxiety & rest. I tried CALM a powdered version of citrate. It didn’t help me much but worked for my sister (anxiety, sleep).
@seabird - perhaps worth trying in the AM If the morning anxiety comes back. It is easy to use smaller doses. I also read they have gummies. .

@Jezah81 - sorry to hear your insomnia interfered with work. It’s so hard to find a way to sleep and feel better.

Sorry to hear that. Insomnia has to be one of the most frustrating things ever - your body has all these smart systems that regulate heartbeat, oxygen, energy, repair and all the rest of it, but it completely sabotages itself when it comes to sleep, like you got across a desert with no water, reached a water fountain/fridge full of cold drinks, and body just says nope, not having any of that.

I just came back from the doctor for the 100th time. He prescribed me mirtazapine. He told me to take half a tablet which is 7.5mg one hour before bed. Any experience with this? Is it worth trying it? Will I feel better the next day to work again or exercise? Will I feel lethargic? I'm so confused and upset. This is ruining my life

Not personally used mirtazapine, but I know a few people it's worked for. It can increase appetite and energy as well. It's possible you might feel groggy if you sleep deeply on it, I think all you can do is try it if your doctor has approved it. Maybe try on a day you don't have to work the next day, if you can do that, to trial it out and see how you react to it.

Ive taken Mirtazapine for about 8 years. I got prescribed it after a bad episode of anxiety. I was initially put on 15mg.
The good:
Its excellent for anxiety and for sleep. I wouldnt be able to function without it.
The bad:
I put on 3 stone, i went from 11.5 stone to 13.10 stone. Ive managed to get back down to 12.4. But its difficult as you feel hungry all the time.

Dissociation at times, feeling hung over in the morning.

if i forget to take it, i cant sleep.

Weird dreams, as it increases rem sleep.

I would check with the chemist about if you can take half a tablet, as i read you shouldnt break them in half because of the way they a coated.

Hmmm thats interesting as the dr himself told me to take only half of the 15mg. Did you feel hung over all the time or only after the first few times when you started taking it?
