I'm sorry to hear what you are going through and send love to you. I have a different concoction of mental pain at the moment, but I do have that tired but wired feeling. Went to bed last night feeling utterly exhausted, while my body just refused to shut down. When I did get near the edge of sleep, and started letting go, I got a surge of panic through my body and just didn't get a minute all night. So now I feel even more exhausted - but not sleepy at all 😢

I hope at least the insomnia resolves for you soon, it can be a common symptom of grief.

Sorry to hear about your husband. That cant be easy at all. Please let us know how the mirtazapine goes for you. Im about to start on it myself , but just a bit hesitant at the moment even though my dr prescribed them to me, I'm still a bit worried about the side effects.

Update. It didn't work. So I took another 7.5mg a few hours later. Even then , it took hours until I finally slept at about 6am ot so and woke up with headaches and grogginess and not feeling good at all..should I continue again tonight ? Will it improve with time?

Thanks seabird! I'm getting a bit more sleep now with the mirtazapine. Wishing you also the best of sleep and everyone else. Sleep is so important and not mentioned enough in health circles. You hear people talking about diet exercise and water , sleep is just as important as those things
Yeah, it's huge. Missing even a little sleep messes up the ability to digest properly, let alone exercise or think clearly and rationally. It seems strange we all have to spend so much time not awake, but there's so much happening. Glad you've gotten help.

Wow ! I had that a few weeks ago because of getting sick with the flu. It was an utter nightmare! I really feel for you. Do you think your problem is psychological or physical?
Both - I have always struggled with sleep to some extent, but am currently going through post acute benzo withdrawal and experiencing one of the most stressful periods I've ever had at the same time as problems mount up. It's a wonder I am getting any sleep at all, my brain just shuts down out of complete exhaustion but then snaps on again because it thinks I'm about to be attacked by something....

Sincerely hope this works for your sleep @Kiwi2016, with no side effects.

My sleep was a good length, but oddly shallow, with my mind monitoring its dreams.
I don't ave a link, but the bbc has a good article on what foods help with healthy sleep, including when we eat meals having an affect on sleep.
