I think you should make that your #1 priority for the new year, we will be here to support you every step of the way. Are there any AA meetings where you live? You can do damage to your liver and we do not want that for you, you're a good person *hug
I’ll have to check on AA meetings in my area. Beside my mom dying of cancer my dad is dying from cirrhosis of the liver so I guess it’s like father like son?!?! Thank you my friend for the kind words.

Oh dear, i'm so sorry to hear all of that :( That is heartbreaking. Good luck finding AA meetings in your area, if its not the time to do it then wait a while when you are emotionally ready for it, that what doctors say when coming off meds, to wait until the time is right. You have us for support too - all the way :)

Thank you so much, you have no idea as to how much you’ve helped me. Even when I progress backwards you are always there trying to help me move forward. You truly are a special person!

I suppose for 2020 fitness goals are not changing too much from what they have been the last few months.
Situps every day
Tennis 1-2x / week
Long walk/run 1x / week
bonus: Maybe think about adjusting types of food eaten but not sure I will have energy for that.

Being healthier drinking more water than diet pop and that includes cutting down on social media and internet useage and focusing more on figuring out why I am sleeping all of my free time away between work hours. Give the cpap machine another shot. Getting myself financially healthy again now that i have two big loans over my head.

Physically getting more trim and toned is my objective of living well.

Cheers and Happy 2020 to everyone.
Happy New Year to you and here's to all of your goals and good health!

I am returning to a consistent yoga practice again after all the phsycial therapy and chiropractic I've been involved with the past few months and was told not to do it. I will continue my daily dog walks which are leisurely and the once or twice a week walk with the walking group, weather permitting as I hate to be out in the cold....water intake is ok but needs to be increased, warm lemon water very first thing in the morning. Body brushing prior to shower, stimulates lymph system. I don't eat after 6pm and high protein with evening meal to balance blood sugar during the night.

My goals this year are to not fall back in my bad habits or eating. I will eat too little for extended periods and then eat too much for extended periods. This year, I want to eat for hunger, enjoy my meals, hit the gym but don’t push myself too much of it isn’t fun, qualify for the Boston marathon, feel healthy and feel confident in myself.

I will more than likely slow down on my baking, meal prep when i know my work schedule is too much, stay away from eating out, and if friends or family want to eat out I won’t stress it I’ll just go!!!

I also do want to lose some fat and tone up, but I feel like if I follow my goals this will happen naturally. I don’t think losing weight will make me confident or happy. But I think being happy and confident will help me lose weight.

And No it does not have to be like father, like son. That chain really can be broken. And it's impossible for most to do it without some support. 12 step recovery has a lot going for it in understanding and ability to provide. There are some healthy people and groups in that setting. I'm sorry to hear about your dad's illness as well and hope he is staying as comfortable as he can be if it's severe and creating problems.

After all this talk about needing to quit drinking here I am sitting at a bar downing my second and I’ve only been here a short time. I feel like a hypocrite. I guess my 2020 sobriety will have to wait a little while longer.

No - you are not a hypocrite, you're in the midst of addiction and addiction to anything can make our emotions and feelings even worse and more dire, you have the chance to beat this addiction, I think what ''they say'' is true, that you first must admit your addiction and move forward from there. In my life I have been addicted to a few different things, I know how hard it is so you won't be getting any criticism from me however if you need support SF is here for you whether you want to give up alcohol tomorrow or next month.

I really feel for you, addiction is brutal and even worse when mixed in and tied with depression and other mental ailments. I think you should start a thread in the substance abuse forum there, just for this issue, that is what I did starting December and now I'm a full month off the ciggies, go for it and never look back :) Support is our specialty *hug
