I'm at a 3 or a 4 lately, with a few 5's thrown in. Thinking of actually going to the doctor, though I've been avoiding that with things as they are.
i think if this pain is fairly constant you should see your doctor. there is nothing worse than chronic pain. it drags your whole life down. i hope you go and they can help you...mike...*hug*shake

thanks mike. ive tried all the regular go to's. just going to have to suffer through it.. *brohug
can't your doctor give you something to lower the pain? with pain that high they may not be able to eliminate it but could possibly lower it. nobody should suffer pain that high...mike...*console*sadhug*shake

well i have an appt with my primary next week so I'll ask if they can up the pain meds. i'm dubious.
i hope they will. with this so called opioid crises doctors are afraid to raise pain meds. hopefully your doctor can see that patient care is more important...mike...*hug*shake
Not sure if it will help, but maybe going into specifics about why you need your pain meds to be upped. By this I mean perhaps discussing with the docs on how the breakthrough pain is impacting on your everyday life and routines ie whether you can carry them out, not at all or with great discomfort, disruption of sleep as well if that happens.
I guess I'm stating the obvious here, and if so I do apologise for acting the arsehat.

Hopefully your doctor with any luck will actually pay attention to what you tell them and not just go through the motions as what happened to me on a couple of occassions in the past.

All the best, hope they'll tailor your meds which will prove effective for you.

any advice on handling doctors is appreciated since they seem to have such a hard time investigating symptoms and participating in more than 5 minute communication. that's been my experience, anyway.

i'm sorry that's your experience with doctors. i'm lucky my doctor listens to me and takes as much time as is neccessary. he once spent over an hour with me on a 15 minuet appointment. there are good doctors out there...mike...*hug*shake

That can be a tough nut to crack, trying to get a doctor to sit up and take notice. A lot depends on the type of doctor, such as if they are of the old school type in which case they generally expect to speak and the patient listens and follows. Or there's the new breed, well intentioned but fucking clueless so they need a subtle nudge in the right direction.

What they need to comprehend is, how tired you are of your body and what it's doing to you. So I was wondering if you have been offered any pain assessment tools so as to allow the medics to get a better snapshot of the pain and discomfort you're experiencing?

Just trying to brush you off in a 5 minute consultation is taking the piss, especially considering from what I recall the conditions you're suffeirng with. I don't know how much of an input you recieve from specialists, but if your primary can't seem to be arsed, I don't know ask them to be referred onto someone who may know more of what they are doing?

There was a rheumatologist who... assessed my pain by poking and prodding me... that was back where I used to live and under different insurance, but he prescribed me something low dose.. I've had trouble obtaining my medical records from them so my primary is reluctant to act without them, though she still prescribes me some pain relievers.

She is very quick to the draw though. I recently had a reaction to something and she diagnosed me with X while telling me I met none of the main criteria to have X. It ended up being something else. I don't mean to be tedious about this but I have almost given up on the doctors. I will have to eventually talk to a rheumatologist here, I'm just so fed up with doctors...

I read a book that said many general doctors know nothing about autoimmune disorders, so there's that as well.
